Money & Marriage- Introduction- Facilitator s Guide for Week 1 Overview: The primary objectives for Week 1 are to begin to develop close relationships among the participants and to reinforce the study requirements. Note: The blank space following each agenda number is for you to fill in the scheduled time for each item. For example, if your class begins at 7:00, #1 would read 7:00, #2 would read 7:05, #3 would read 7:10, and so forth. This will help you monitor the time so that the class will end punctually. 1. (5 minutes) Open in prayer. 2. (5 minutes) Each person recites from memory: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord (Isaiah 55:8). 3. (5 minutes) If you have not done so before, review with your group the class requirements found on page 3 of the workbook. 4. (70 minutes) Ask each person to take 5-6 minutes to introduce themselves, beginning with a facilitator. Ask them to share how they were introduced to Jesus Christ, what they do for a living and something about their family. If someone is too brief, ask questions to provide an opportunity to learn more about the participant. 5. (15 minutes) Begin the Homework discussion. Remaining : 1. (5 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 1) DVD and answer any questions. 2. (10 minutes) Review what to do for next week. Complete Homework on pages 18-25. (Remind everyone to do the homework daily.) List Your Possessions on page 41-42. Review the calendar to determine if any regularly scheduled classes fall on a holiday. If there are any conflicts, please reschedule at this meeting. Schedule a social. 3. (10 minutes) Complete the Prayer Logs starting on page 151. Participants should have one Prayer Log for each couple, including themselves. Take prayer requests and note them in the Prayer Logs. Reminder Decide which facilitator will contact the participants this week and record it on the Care Log on page 157 or 158.
Money & Marriage- Building a Healthy Marriage Facilitator Guide for Week 2 Each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33, NIV). Reminder: Alternate with the women answering one of the day s homework and the men the next day. Remaining 1. (10 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 2) DVD 2. (5 minutes) Review what the participants will do for next week. Complete Week 3 Homework on pages 44-52. Complete The Deed on pages 65-67. 3. (10 minutes) Note in the Prayer Log requests and answers to prayers. Reminder: Please contact your group members this week to encourage them and care for them.
Money & Marriage- Compass Map (part 1) -Facilitator Guide for Week 3 Overview: God has a major role in our finances, and we have a role. Giving with an attitude of love is crucial. Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things, enter into the joy of your master (Matthew 25:21). Remaining : 1. (10 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 3) DVD. 2. (5 minutes) Review what the class is to do for next week. Complete the Homework on pages 70-77. Complete List Your Debts on pages 92-93. 3. (10 minutes) Note in the Prayer Log prayer requests and answers to prayers. Reminder: Please evaluate the participants to identify those to ask to be future Facilitators of this study.
Money & Marriage- Compass Map (part 2) Facilitator Guide for Week 4 Overview: The Lord discourages debt because it enslaves us to our lenders, and God wants us to be free to serve Him and the people He places in our lives. 2. (5 minutes) Each person recites from memory: Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7, TLB). Reminder: Assign one of the participants to lead the class so that they learn it is not difficult. Remaining : 1. (10 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 4) DVD 2. (5 minutes) Review what the participants will do for next week. Complete the Homework on pages 96-103. Complete Setting Your Goals on pages 118-123. 3. Money and Marriage- Compass Map (part 3) Facilitator Guide for Week 5 Overview: This week s objective is to help couples deal with financial conflict and grow closer together during it. Let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God (James 1:19-20). Remaining : 1. (10 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 5) DVD 2.. (5 minutes) Review what the students are required to do for next week. Complete the Homework on pages 126-132. Complete the Our Marriage Covenant on pages 149-150. 3. (10 minutes) Note in the Prayer Log requests and answers to prayers.
Money & Marriage- Storms of Life and Finishing Strong Facilitator Guide for Week 6 Overview: This week s objectives are to help couples grow closer together during challenges and finish their marriages strong. : I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me (Acts 20:24, NIV). Remaining 1. (10 minutes) Play the Money and Marriage God s Way (Week 6) DVD. 2. (15 minutes) Note in the Prayer Log your long-term requests and answers to prayers. 3. (5 minutes) End in prayer.
