This little paper has met with popular favor, it has made friends, it deserves to live. Some weeks ago an application, accompanied by the required fee, went forth seeking privilege to enter the mails. This application is held up pending a larger per cent of paid up subscribers. A ninety per cent bona-fide subscription is required by the U. S. Postal Service. To this fad we are required to make a sworn statement. According to our instructions friends cannot donate over one half the subscription appearing on our list. To secure the privilege of the mails we must make oath that our paper is paid for, that it is not complimentary. Therefore we need about thirty per cent more bona-fide paid up subscribers. Will you help us? WiU you mail to our editor fifty cents (stamps will do) for a year s subscription? Friends of this paper would gladly pay for your paper, if it could be mailed to you gratis. We regret that this plan will not meet the postal requirements. Therefore, we see only one way to attain our goal namely your help. Saul was a capable, courageous man with a magnetic personality. He was very well educated having studied under Gamaliel. (Read Acts 5:33-40). Saul was a zealous man and lived his life with intenseness and enthusiasm. He believed that Jesus was an imposter and that his followers were heretics. He believed they should be eliminated for the good of the state and he acted vigorously under these convictions. Consequently he went to the Court of the Sanhedrin and requested letters of arrest to be served upon Christians in Damascus. He received these letters and started out with his men north from Jerusalem one hundred thirty-three miles to Damascus. There was no doubt in his mind as to the result of his journey. He knew the Christians would be found easily and his men, fully armed, would make the arrests. He was. well satisfied with himself. (Suddenly, on the last day of his journey, just outside the gates of Damascus, he was struck down by a shaft of light from the heavens. In the light was a voice which said, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?" Trembling and astonished Saul asked who spoke to him. Then came the answer "Jesus whom thou persecutest." What did that answer mean to Saul? It meant that he was wrong. Saul realized this immediately and the next thought came like a crash. What should he do? So he asked the question and this was the answer, "Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." Then Saul was left lying on the Damascus road. His men, speechless because they had also heard the voice, saw him arise to his feet and suddenly Saul realized he was blind. So he was led, a blind man helpless and trembling, into the city cf Christians he had set' out to persecute. (j THE COMMUNITY CHURCH NEWS who was scalded about three weeks ago, by taking the cap off of a radiator on a tractor, is still on the invalid list. Moe Rearick and Bill Lawrentz returned from a two weeks fishing trip in Canada last week with several nice fish. Fish stories will probably appear later. For the past several months Carl Henr^ has been constructing an automobile. It looks like a racer, has a Model T Ford engine with overhead valves, special transmission, low center of gravity, etc., etc. Edward Fortime of Highland avenue returned last Monday from a two weeks visit with an lincle in 'Bontiac, Michigan. He hitchhiked both ways. It took him 24 hours to go up and 8 hours to return. On Tuesday evening of last week Fred Sommers was elected president of the Akron Chapter Veterans Rainbow Division. There are about one hundred members in this chapter. He will take office in September. We hear that the Stow school is in the market for a new. school bus. Last Saturday evening on starting to turn his Model "T" off tho Hudson road into Ritchie road, one of the more modern high speed cars ran into him. Both cars were damaged. Some eight or nine State Police and Deputy Sheriffs were soon on the scene trying to slow down traffic along the Hudosn road. Thig is the second auto accident in this vicinity within a week. To Mrs. Louie Stein after a picnic husbands must look very much alike. It would seem that she has been married long enough to know her own, but such was not the case last Saturday evening for when Mr. Bishop drove up in his Bolls Royce for Mrs. Bishop, Mrs. Stein immediately installed herself in the front seat beside Mr. Bishop, and proceeded to inquire where and why he got that picnic basket, etc., etc. However before long it dawned on her that the man in the car had the right basket and other equipment, except sitting in the front seat was the wrong wife.
