Kookaburra Yoga Mt Kailash Spiritual Pilgrimage to Tibet Kathmandu Simikot Kailash Lhasa Meditation Trip Sun 16 Sept - Sat 6 October (21 days) Join Robert Becker on a spiritual pilgrimage to the world s holiest mountain - Mt Kailash in Tibet. Journey to mystical Mt Kailash and Lake Manasarovar near the juncture of the Tibet-India-Nepal border, departing from and returning to Kathmandu, Nepal. Visit the Potala palace, temples and monasteries of Lhasa, the Yamdrok Tso lake, Gyantse, Sakya fortress monastery, turquoise waters of Lake Manasarovar and thermal springs arriving at Kailash for the full moon. Participate in the traditional Yoga pilgrimage walk around Kailash. Appreciate a broader understanding of ancient and contemporary Yoga traditions including the commonalities and distinctions across Buddhist, Bonn, Hindu and Western perspectives.
Yoga pilgrimage may encompass personal experiences of heightened awareness, connection with nature, reverence, clarity, insight of life purpose and meaning, self development and potential transformation. From Simikot to Kailash The third main way to Kailash is via the small village of Simikot in far northwest Nepal s Humal istrict. To reach Simikot you need to fly from Kathmandu to Nepalganj in southwestern Nepal and then take a second flight on to Simikot, elevation 2985 meters. From Simikot, you trek to Hilsa, known as the Limi Valley Trek. This gorgeous trek takes about 6 days to complete going straight from Simikot to Hilsa and gives your body time to acclimatise to high elevation. Once you reach Hilsa, you then cross the bridge into Tibet where there is a China Customs building. Your driver and guide in Tibet will then meet you and drive you the short distance to Purang, the first major town in Tibet. You will stay in Purang, elevation 3890 meters, before going to Lake Manasarovar and to archen, the starting point of the trek. After the trek you ll visit Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, before lying back to Kathmandu. This is an awesome route that very few foreign travellers take.
