Rev.Dr.Siemon Netto AbouttheAuthor For57years,UweSiemon Netto,aninternationaljournalistfromGermany,hasreportedabout major world events including the construction and the fall of the Berlin Wall and the assassinationofpresidentjohnf.kennedy.hecoveredthevietnamwaroveraperiodoffive years, from 1965 until 1969 and then again in 1972. He has also written extensively about topics ranging from wine, food, classical music and modern art to religion. At age 50 he interrupted his career to earn an M.A. at a Lutheran seminary in Chicago and a doctorate in theology and sociology of religion at Boston University. His doctoral dissertation titled, The Fabricated Luther: Refuting Nazi Connections and Other Modern Myths, has been widely acclaimedasaresoundingargumentagainstthechargethatthe16th centurygermanreformer couldhavebeenhitler'sprogenitor.aspartofhistheologicalstudiessiemon Nettoservedasa chaplaintovietnamveteransinminnesotaandwroteasignificantbookonpastoralcaretitled, TheAcquittalofGod:ATheologyforVietnamVeterans.Dr.Siemon Nettonowlivesinsouthern California as a writer, educator and founding director emeritus of the Center for Lutheran Theology and Public Life in Capistrano Beach. Rev.Dr.WalterSundbergbeganhisworkatLutherSeminary in 1978 81 as an instructor in systematic theology. He returnedasassistantprofessorofchurchhistoryin1984,was namedassociateprofessorin1986andwasnamedprofessor in 1994. He was acting chair of the history department in 1987 88andChairoftheHistoryDepartmentfrom1991 1993. HewasavisitingprofessorattheCollegeofSt.CatherineinSt. Paulin1985 86. Ordained in 1981, he was assistant minister of Como Park LutheranChurch,St.Paul,in1981 84.Hewasaninstructorat Augsburg College, Minneapolis, in 1980, in the U.S. Army Chaplains Program in 1977, and at Lutheran Theological SeminaryatPhiladelphiain1976. SundbergearnedtheB.A.degreemagnacumlaudein1969fromSt.OlafCollege,Northfield, Minn.,wherehewaselectedtoPhiBetaKappa.HereceivedboththeM.Div.degreeandthe Ph.D. degree magna cum laude from Princeton Theological Seminary (1973 and 1981). He studied at the University of Tubingen, Germany, in 1971 72. He received the Rockefeller TheologicalFellowshipandtheAmericanLutheranChurchGraduateFellowship. HeisamemberoftheadvisorycouncilofInterpretation,andtheeditorialboardsofLutheran Quarterly and Lutheran Commentator. A board member of both the Great Commission Network and Lutheran Bible Ministries, he has also served on the board of Lutheran Bible InstituteandtheALCInter ChurchRelationsCommittee. Sundberg contributed "Ministry in 19th Century European Lutheranism" to Called and Ordained: Lutheran Perspectives on the Office of Ministry (edited by Todd Nichol and Marc Kolden, 1990).
