Jesus Calling Enjoying Peace in HIS Presence Proverbs 22:17 A merry heart does good like medicine I am INVOLVED in each moment of your life. I have carefully mapped out every inch of your journey through this day, even though much of it may feel haphazard. Because the world is in a fallen condition, things always seem to be unraveling around the edges. Expect to find trouble in this day. At the same time, trust that My way is perfect, even in the midst of such messy imperfection. Stay conscious of Me as you go through this day, remembering that I never leave your side. Let the Holy Spirit guide you step by step, protecting you from unnecessary trials and equipping you to get through whatever must be endured. As you trudge through the sludge of this fallen world, keep in mind in heavenly places with Me. Thus the Light of My Presence shines on you, giving you Peace and Joy that circumstances cannot touch. PSALM 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him Book Review. Stay tuned.we are currently discussing how to grow our Sunday School! This is a MUST READ book by Kyle Idleman. Matter of fact, this is a great book to give away at Christmas time! It s about becoming a completely committed follower of Jesus. God isn t interested in having an enthusiastic admirer. A fan wants to be close enough to Jesus to enjoy all the benefits, but not so close that it requires sacrifice. In this book, you will be challenged to take an honest look at your relationship with Jesus. His call to follow may seem radical to us, but Jesus desires it for every believer! Pastor Dave
Pastor s Pen A Message from Pastor Dave As you know, I am your new Pastor and I thought you would like to know a little about my family. I am married to Jeanette. We celebrate our 46 th Anniversary on August 21 st. We are the parents of 3 girls who are all married. We have 11 grandchildren. Their ages range from 20 years old to 8 years old. My oldest daughter adopted 5 children at the same time and because they all were named when she adopted them, we now have 2 Morgan s and 2 Riley s. When all of our grandchildren are present we address them by their first and middle names like Morgan Ashley or Riley Ann. Jeanette is a highly skilled pianist and harpist. She also has a very beautiful singing voice. Jeanette and I love to entertain! We plan to have you over to our home for a BBQ. If you have children or love to swim yourself, you are invited to swim in our pool that night. We will swim and eat and get to know each other. The dates for our BBQ s are listed below: Welcome! So here s the formula to success in God s eyes: Prayer=Power=Fruit=God s Glory
Pastor s Pen Continued. from Pastor Dave Over the next few months I will be preparing a study on HOW TO UNDERSTAND YOUR BIBLE. It may seem simplistic, but if you follow the study from start to finish, it will prove very valuable. You might want to save each study, so you can help a new believer understand their bible. THE STRUCTURE OF THE BIBLE How many books in the Bible. How many book in the New Testament. How many books in the Old Testament. (answers at the end) THERE ARE 3 KINDS OF BOOKS IN THE O.T. History Books Poetry Books Prophecy Books The first 17 books in the OT are Historical The next 5 books are Poetical The next 17 books are Prophetical The historical books are not laid out for us in chronological order. If you wanted to read the historical books chronologically you d read: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, I Samuel, II Samuel, I Kings, II Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah. Most of the Prophetic books were written during the time of II Kings Hosea & Amos were written specifically to the disobedient 10 tribes called Israel. Habakkuk, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel, Micah, Zephaniah, Lamentations were written to the 2 southern tribes called Judah. All written during the time of II Kings Ezekiel & Daniel written after II Kings and before Ezra. Haggai & Zechariah were written during the time of Ezra & Esther. Malachi was written during the time of Nehemiah. The Old Testament isn t one long, unbroken story that flows evenly and consistently out of one book into the next until they are finished. So try reading the OT books according to their Chronological date: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, I and II Samuel, I and II Kings, Ezra and Nehemiah. Enjoy reading the 11 primary historical books! Next month..the New Testament!! The 5 books of Poetry time line is as follows: Job written during the time of Genesis Psalms- written during the time of I Kings Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon written during the time of II Kings.
DOVE NEWS ARTICLE JULY, AUGUST, 2017 PRAY + PRAY + PRAY + PRAY We are all aware of the Spiritual condition of our Nation and many of our Churches. I am suggesting that during July & August we as individuals and as families make every effort to make prayer a priority for these issues and others. God told us in 2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people, who are called by my name, will HUMBLE themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Can you imagine what would happen in our Nation and in our Churches if we as Christians made every effort to pray and ask God to send the power of His Holy Spirit upon us causing a great awakening. If we commit to serious prayer, it could happen. Another thing you could do this summer is study something in the scriptures you do not understand like Spiritual Warfare. What is it and why should we be concerned about it? I N SPITE OF ALL THAT IS GOING ON IN OUR WORLD, GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL
Blessing Bags The Women s Association has begun a new project that has us really excited. Ruth Circle is putting together Blessing Bags. We are taking lightly used medium sized handbags and filling them with toiletries and personal care items. Our hope is that these Blessing bags will then bless someone who is in need women who are homeless or in shelters. We are also preparing small kits of similar items for men. Each bag will contain a guardian angel and a prayer square with the name of our church so that the recipient will know someone cares and is praying for them. If this project goes well, we hope to do it two or three times a year. Below is a list of the items that are being collected. There are two wicker laundry baskets under the benches in the room behind the sanctuary where handbags and items may be donated. Ruth Circle thanks the congregation for their support of this project. If you have questions or would like to help. See Janet Wilson or any other member of Ruth Circle.
