The Mystery Revealed <Seed is the Word of God <Soil is the heart (v. 12, 15) Romans 10:9-10 with the heart a person believes <Beside the road Satan prevents faith and salvation <Rocky soil hear and rejoice but fall in time of testing < Thorny soil cares, riches, pleasures prevent fruit <Good soil an honest and good heart hold fast; bear fruit; persevere < Fundamental need: a good heart (Deuteronomy 6:29) Matthew 15:8 a heart far from me

The Fruit of Good Soil (8:16-21) <A new image: A lamp is lit Lamp exposes the heart Problem is not the seed, or the light (John 1:4-5) Warning: Take care how you listen <Jesus mother and brothers seek to see Him (19-21) A third image the family of God is not biologic, but spiritual <The Word: trust in Jesus Christ and obey Him

A Demonstration of His Work (8:22-56) < Jesus stills the storm (8:22-25) Jesus led them into the boat to cross the lake The storm descended on the lake as if unexpected by Jesus Jesus slept entrusting Himself to the Father (1 Peter 2:23) A test of rocky soil will they believe for awhile? (8:13) They called upon Jesus He directed them to the core issue: Where is their faith? He is the Commander of the winds and water and they obey

A Demonstration of His Work (8:22-56) <A legion of demons is cast out (8:26-39) Demon possessed; controled by Satan Demons under dominion of Christ (8:28) Demons did not want to enter the Abyss Abyss is prison for demons Rev. 9:1-11 release of demons from the abyss Rev. 20:1-3, 7 - Satan s prison for 1000 years Demons sent into the pigs and into the lake Citizens wanted Jesus to leave Healed man wanted to go, but Jesus made him stay to preach

A Demonstration of His Work (8:22-56) < Jairus request for his sick daughter <An interruption a woman beyond healing < The woman is healed immediately <Jesus detected her touch and the healing < Your faith has made you well; go in peace. <A sad message from Jairus home <Jesus called on Jairus to believe. <Jesus was mocked an obstacle to Jairus <His daughter was raised from the dead <Jesus told them not to speak of this

Glad Tidings of the Kingdom <Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Savior and King <An obstacle the heart of man Obstructed by the devil Turned aside by testing/temptation Choked out by cares, riches and pleasures <Good news The Sower prepares the soil! Demons cast out Testing lifted before faith fails Cares of this world can be removed Faith need not be huge hidden in a crowd; mocked by friends and family <Good news we are partakers of the Divine nature (2 Peter1:3-4) < Take care how you listen (8:18)
