Cookies for Kairos Inside (Jail Ministry) Several members of our congregation and local community are volunteer team members for the Kairos weekend (November 2 5). Please prepare as many dozens as you can. A checklist to help you plan is available in the sanctuary lobby and in the Fellowship Hall. Please have your cookies baked, packaged, frozen and delivered to church by Wed., Nov. 1. For those who prefer not to bake, prepare and bring your cookie dough (with baking instructions) to our Cookie Baking Event which will take place in the FLC Kitchen, Tue., Oct. 24 & Wed. Boxes will again be available this year in Fellowship Hall and may be brought back to the Fellowship Hall the next 3 Sundays, ending Nov 12. Inside each box is an information pamphlet to help you in filling your box with items for a special child who has never received a Christmas gift. (You may also use your own Christmas-wrapped shoebox.) Start with a WOW toy and fill up your shoebox. Most importantly, PRAY for the child who will be receiving your gift. Also please include the $9 donation inside (that helps send it to anywhere in the world!) For questions call, 439-9364. Marlana Way and Linda Mullard, Co- Chairs. SVUMC will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct 28th from 4-6pm. If you are interested in having your car in the Trunk or Treat rows, sign up in the lobby. Please be in the Activity Center Parking Lot at 3pm on the 28th, and plan to stay set up until 7pm (for safety reasons). Bring your own decorations and wrapped candy or small toys/stickers for approximately 200 children. This year there will also be activities on the lawn, run by our Education Committee and the Rainbow Girls, and we will have lots of different ways to get involved if you'd like to volunteer. Please contact Roxanna McGinnis, Shin Anderson, Holly Bell, Jenna McCrery or Joe and Cindy Stewart with any questions. We will be collecting wrapped candy in the office as well, to use as prizes for the lawn games. Thanks for your support! Come out and mingle on Saturday night the 28th! On Saturday, 04 November from 8 to 2 the Fishermen will sponsor the annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair in the Activity Center. We have 20+ vendors signed up to bring their unique, handmade items. We ll also have coffee and sweets in the morning and hot dogs, chili dogs, and just chili (all with chips) and soda at lunch time. Profits will go towards meeting out commitment to Good Neighbor Alliance. In conjunction with this event, the Mission Store will be open in the Serenity Room. They will have baked goods and donated treasures for sale to support missions of our church. There is a sign up sheet in the Sanctuary Lobby. For more info, call Edie Rowett (520) 220-1776.
