If you would like to receive our weekly news, be sure to enter your email address. If you are a new visitor, we would enjoy knowing a little about you, so please complete a Contact Card that you will find in the pew pocket in front of you and place it in the offering plate. The SVUMC orchestra will have an organizational meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 6 p.m. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please plan to attend or contact Candi Smith. Cookies for Kairos Inside (Jail Ministry) Several members of our congregation and local community are volunteer team members for the Kairos weekend (November 2 5). Each team member has committed to baking 125 dozen cookies. We need your help again to reach this goal. A few dozen cookies from each of you can become a blessing. Please prepare as many dozens as you can. A checklist to help you plan is available in the sanctuary lobby and in the Fellowship Hall. Please have your cookies baked, packaged, frozen and delivered to church by Wed., Nov. 1. For those who prefer not to bake, prepare and bring your cookie dough (with baking instructions) to our Cookie Baking Event which will take place in the FLC Kitchen, Tue., Oct. 24 & Wed. Oct. 25, 9:00AM 4:00PM. Thank you so much for caring. For additional information, contact Jim Evans (266-3688). Please join us Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 6:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary for Vespers, a casual communion service lasting about 45 minutes. Our speaker will be Sara Evans. All are welcome! Ruth Circle s October Circle will be this Thursday, October 26th, 7:00pm in the Serenity Room. All ladies of the church are welcome to attend for an evening of fellowship, prayer, learning, and fun! Please bring a friend! For questions, please contact Annie Coppola at 520-678-5647 Operation Christmas Child Mission - printed Christmas shoeboxes that share the Gospel of Jesus Christ -- a project of Samaritan's Purse with Franklin Graham, President -- begins Sunday, Oct 22. Boxes will again be available this year in Fellowship Hall and may be brought back to the Fellowship Hall the next 3 Sundays, ending Nov 12. Inside each box is an information pamphlet to help you in filling your box with items for a special child who has never received a Christmas gift. (You may also use your own Christmas-wrapped shoebox.) Start with a WOW toy and fill up your shoebox. Most importantly, PRAY for the child who will be receiving your gift. Also please include the $9 donation inside (that helps send it to anywhere in the world!) For questions call, 439-9364. Marlana Way and Linda Mullard, Co- Chairs. SVUMC will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct 28th from 4-6pm. If you are interested in having your car in the Trunk or Treat rows, sign up in the lobby. Please be in the Activity Center Parking Lot at 3pm on the 28th, and plan to stay set up until 7pm (for safety reasons). Bring your own decorations and wrapped candy or small toys/stickers for approximately 200 children. This year there will also be activities on the lawn, run by our Education Committee and the Rainbow Girls, and we will have lots of different ways to get involved if you'd like to volunteer. Please contact Roxanna McGinnis, Shin Anderson, Holly Bell, Jenna McCrery or Joe and Cindy Stewart with any questions. We will be collecting wrapped candy in the office as well, to use as prizes for the lawn games. Thanks for your support! Come out and mingle on Saturday night the 28th! On Saturday, 04 November from 8 to 2 the Fishermen will sponsor the annual Fall Arts & Crafts Fair in the Activity Center. We have 20+ vendors signed up to bring their unique, handmade items. We ll also have coffee and sweets in the morning and hot dogs, chili dogs, and just chili (all with chips) and soda at lunch time. Profits will go towards meeting out commitment to Good Neighbor Alliance. In conjunction with this event, the Mission Store will be open in the Serenity Room. They will have baked goods and donated treasures for sale to support missions of our church. There is a sign up sheet in the Sanctuary Lobby. For more info, call Edie Rowett (520) 220-1776. The 4th annual "Reclaiming Family Dinner" CrockPot Seminar is rapidly approaching! SVUMC Outreach Team is in need of 30+ LARGE CrockPots by Sun., Nov. 5th (from 4-6pm). If you can purchase a NEW slow-cooker (any brand) in the 5 quart size or larger, please do so, and leave it in the Outreach Office by Sunday morning, Nov. 5th. Every CrockPot donated will welcome another potential family to our church: the more CrockPots received, the more families that can attend this great event. Please contact Holly Bell or Sheila King with any questions. We will also need 30+ CrockPot-cooked meals at 3:30pm on Sunday, Nov 5th. If you can, please bring your CrockPot (clearly labeled) to church on Sunday morning the 5th, and plug it in to cook all day in the Activity Center kitchen. There is a sign up sheet in the lobby for those willing to bring a meal for this event. Thanks!

United Methodist Women will be hosting a Happy Hour of Giving meeting Thursday November 9 th from 4-6 pm in Fellowship Hall. We will be serving meatballs, wings and other food groups for your enjoyment! YUM! This meeting will kick off our yearly project for items to fill Christmas boxes for our homebound church members. Boxes will be delivered in the middle of December. Suggestions include: Men s and Women s nonskid socks, toothbrushes, tooth paste, travel size shampoo or hand lotions, nail clippers, hand held magnifying glasses, sugar free or regular hard candies and any other items that would be useful. A basket for your donations will be available November 10 th in the Sanctuary Lobby plus a sign up sheet for decorated Christmas cookies to be included in the box will be next to the basket. Call Jeanette Higgins at 678-3054 for any further information. The SVUMC Music Dept. is starting a choir for the 7:30 service. Rehearsal is on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. This new choir will sing once or twice a month. Please see Candi Smith or Carl Coss. The ladies of Ruth Circle would like to thank these gentlemen who showed up on a Saturday to help us by set up for the Fall Potluck: David Israel, Gary Larson, Steve O Neall, Dale O Neill, and Tony Waalkens. Also, to all the wonderful people who stayed after the potluck to help clean up. You made our hearts full! Help us spread the word! The Sunday School will be setting up a rock painting tent for the Trunk or Treat. We are asking for donations of craft paint, paint brushes, and newspapers. The goal is to get at least 100 rocks out into the community representing the church. Please leave donations in the box on the Sunday School table. Thank you for your kindness. Jenna McCrery Requests for announcements in Sunday worship are due by the preceding Wednesday at noon. Please email your request to Pastor Matt at mattdswc@gmail.com and to the Office at doncella@svumc.phxcoxmail.com Announcements must be of interest to a significant portion of the congregation; time is limited, so the Pastor may not be able to honor all requests. Bulletin announcements are due in the office by the preceding Tuesday at noon. Announcements should be no more than two or three sentences. Longer announcements can be sent to Clay at claymbowman@yahoo.com to be included in the weekly email, The Jaunt.
