St. Vincent de Paul Meeting Our Annunciation Parish St. Vincent de Paul Conference will have their monthly meeting this Tuesday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. All are welcome to become involved in this outreach ministry that seeks to provide emergency material assistance to those in our neighborhood who are in need. Interested in Becoming Catholic? If you have no church home, or are attending Annunciation but are not Catholic, have you ever thought about becoming Catholic or wondered how someone becomes Catholic? There is no commitment required for someone to begin the inquiry process - just an openness to ask questions and find out what is involved in the process for becoming Catholic. Come and see! If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more about the possibility of becoming Catholic, please contact Father Grogan or Dr. Sandi Chakeres at the Parish Office, 861-1295. Eucharistic Holy Hour Please join us this Wednesday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m. in church for Eucharistic Exposition and Adoration, beginning with brief prayer and song. There will then be time for quiet, personal prayer, reading, meditation, contemplation, and adoration. We will conclude with Benediction at 8:00 p.m. All are welcome! First Communion Family Preparation Children preparing for First Communion and their parents are reminded of our First Communion Family Preparation gathering this Thursday, March 9, from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in church. FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT MARCH 5, 2017 CRS Rice Bowl Week One: Focus on India Priyanka Baliar Singh (age 12) with her mother, Megharani (Megha) Baliar Singh, as she cooks outdoors. (Photo by Jennifer Hardy/Catholic Relief Services) The Singh family lives in Deipur Village in Block Kanas, Puri district, Odisha state in Eastern India. They receive assistance through CRS Community-Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP) program. CBPD provides a range of disaster preparedness and resilience interventions, such as livestock vaccinations, improved varieties of rice that can withstand flooding, kitchen gardens, bag gardens and nutrition education. All of these interventions help the family withstand natural disasters and personal crises, and often allows them to save money for other family needs. The 3 goals of CBPD are 1) preparedness, 2) mitigating agriculture and livestock losses, and 3) early recovery, which includes kitchen gardens because they re fast growing. CRS runs CBPD in partnership with the Society for Women Action Development (SWAD) and also received technical assistance from the Central Rice Research Institute. CBDP receives funding from the COFRA Foundation in Europe. Learn more at www.crsricebowl.org. Would you like to learn more about CRS Rice Bowl, our parish Lenten Outreach?
