Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible This eight-part study (30 minute sessions) provides the easiest way to understand the Bible. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible makes the complex simple. It helps you to uncover the story woven throughout Scripture so that you can get the big picture of the Bible and understand what it is all about. The Bible is a story about the Father s unfailing love for you, a love that you are now called to share with others. Prerequisite: None Course Length: 8 weeks Presenter: Jeff Cavins Then Begin the 3-Part Foundational Series The Great Adventure begins with a three-step foundational series designed to give you a solid basis for all future Bible study. Each foundational course is offered once per year. Classes begin in September and run through March or April. Step 1 The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation The Bible Timeline is the first foundational study in The Great Adventure Bible Study Series. A combination of individual reading and study, group discussion, and lecture commentary guides participants as they read through the 14 narrative books of the Bible and discover the meaning of each in light of the whole. The Bible Timeline is an immensely rich study, diving deep into each time period of salvation history. Prerequisite None Course Length: 24 weeks Presenter: Jeff Cavins Step 2 Matthew: The King and His Kingdom Building directly on the foundation laid in The Bible Timeline, Step Two in The Great Adventure Bible Study Series, Matthew, The King and His Kingdom, shows how Jesus builds on the foundation laid in the Old Testament to inaugurate the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. Experience how Jesus relived the life and struggles of Israel to become the faithful and victorious King, and see how the promises of the Old Testament are fulfilled in Christ and his Apostles. Prerequisite: Bible Timeline Course Length: 24 weeks; Presenter: Jeff Cavins Step 3 Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom, builds on The Bible Timeline and Matthew by showing how Christ's Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry out his work in the world. The book of Acts shows the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring outcasts in the same way that Jesus did on earth. The Acts of the Apostles provides an historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul's letters in particular come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative. Prerequisite: Bible Timeline and Matthew; Course Length: 24 weeks; Presenter: Jeff Cavins

Topical Studies These courses are short, 8-16 week studies, focusing on a specific book of the Bible. These courses have no prerequisites and can be taken in any order. Not every course is offered in each session. Exodus: Called to Freedom The Exodus can be The Exodus can be viewed as the defining moment in Israel's history, for it was then that God called Israel out of slavery in Egypt and to a life of freedom as His people. In Exodus: Called to Freedom, Dr. Tim Gray looks through the lens of Christ and the Church to show that, more than just seeking to free His people from the domination of Pharaoh, God desired to free His people from the far more sinister tyranny of sin, so they could live the authentic freedom that belongs to children of God. Because of this, the Exodus story is not just Israel's story, it is our story as well; it tells us who God is and what He calls us to be. Course length is 10 weeks First Corinthians: The Church and the Christian Community The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. With divisions, immorality, persecution, and other trials of the faithful, the message of St. Paul to the Corinthians is a much-needed message for our own times. First Corinthians: In The Church and the Christian Community, Dr. Tim Gray explores the key elements that the apostle Paul introduced to a new and growing Church. St. Paul taught the Corinthians about the nature of grace and the Church as the Body of Christ. In addition, he introduced the Corinthian Christians to the most powerful gift of all, the Eucharist. Galatians: Set Free to Live Galatians: Set Free to Live, by Jeff Cavins and Gayle Somers. Paul's letter to the Galatians speaks directly to the heart of Christians and addresses the most important question we can ask: "What must we do to be saved?" This fascinating letter reveals the merciful love that God the Father has for us, his children. It speaks of the extraordinary gift of salvation that Jesus has won f or us, and it explains how we can unite ourselves to Christ's redeeming sacrifice through faith and love. Galatians is a study that will reignite your love for God as you learn of the astonishing love God has for you. James: Pearls for Wise Living James is one of the most practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs, it is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between the competing demands of this world and their faith. All through this study, Jeff Cavins shows how the book of James offers pearls for wise living by applying the wisdom of James to the present day. For anyone who has struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers a wealth of practical solutions for handling and even sanctifying everyday circumstances.

Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother Prophets Psalms Revelation As Catholics, we have a profound reverence for the Blessed Mother. We turn to her in prayer, in the Mass, in the Rosary, and in Marian devotions. We honor her with special feasts celebrating the significant events in her life. We place images of her in our churches and homes. Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother is an extraordinary pilgrimage that reveals Mary's unique role in God's Kingdom and in our lives. Filmed on location in the Holy Land, Mary: A Biblical Walk with the Blessed Mother will place you in the midst of the powerful drama of her earthly life, taking you through her joys and her sorrows. You will learn how she works in our lives today, drawing us ever closer to her Divine Son. Seeing Mary in this way will change you forever. Mary will become a part of your daily life, and in your daily life, you will become more like Christ. God is calling you to a deeper relationship with Him. If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is his Bride, then the prophets can be seen as "spiritual marriage counselors." They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant relationship with God. They urge us to repentance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce the blessings of faithfulness. Their prophetic words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom, and show us how to share him with others. Course length is 10 weeks. With Psalms: The School of Prayer, The Great Adventure moves from telling the Story to making it personal. While the historical books of the Bible recount God's creative and redemptive acts in history, the Psalms reveal Israel's response to God 's covenant offer and serve as a model for our response to Him. Indeed, one could say that the historical books tell the "outside" of the story of Israel by giving an historical perspective, while the Psalms tell the "inside" story, which comes from the deeply personal perspective of one who is seeking God. Our communication with God is enhanced by a deeper understanding of the book of Psalms and of the individual psalms that reside in each of our hearts. Course length is 10 weeks; presented by Jeff Cavins and Dr. Tim Gray. In this intriguing look a t one of the most talked-about books in Scripture, Jeff Cavins explores Revelation to demonstrate how the Kingdom established by Christ in His Church is intimately connected with the Kingdom of Heaven, especially through the celebration of the Mass. You will also learn what all the mysterious figures and images of Revelation represent, as well as what will happen during the Second Coming of Christ, what has already happened, and what is happening now in salvation history.

Priest, Prophet & King The better we understand Jesus, the better we understand ourselves. But who was Jesus, this itinerant preacher whom many called the Messiah? In the seven week study of Priest, Prophet & King, you ll discover Jesus as the Anointed One the ultimate priest, prophet and king foreshadowed throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, Using biblical insights and engaging stories Bishop Robert Barron affirms that we see Jesus most clearly through the lens of the Old Testament. Through this deeply Biblical program, you will better understand Jesus, become more familiar with Scripture, and realize your own priestly, prophetic and kingly mission, received when you are baptized into Christ. Course length is 7 weeks. Peter: Cornerstone of Catholicism Simon Peter a poor fisherman; an impetuous follower; a bungling disciple. Peter: The Cornerstone of Catholicism offers a fascinating, in-depth study on the life and meaning of St Peter. Bringing together Biblical stories, historical knowledge, solid Church teaching and personal insights, Dr. Tim Gray gives a fresh perspective on the fisherman who Jesus entrusted with His Church. Course length is 10 weeks. St Paul s Letter to the Ephesians St Paul s Letter to the Hebrews St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians can be examined in two parts. The first part is essentially a prayer and extended meditation on the mystery of Jesus Christ as revealed through his body, The Church. The second half of is a set of practical instructions for Christians. Many say that there is no other New Testament epistle that expresses Christian truths in such a majestic way. Commentaries by Dr. Scott Hahn and Mark Shea; Course length is10 weeks. Hebrews is written to Jewish converts, who, because of persecutions, as well as fear and doubts about their Christian faith, are tempted to revert back to traditional Judaism and its Temple-centered worship. The Book of Hebrews stresses that Jesus Christ is the true sacrificial lamb who shed His blood for us and freed us from sin. Commentaries by Dr. Scott Hahn and Mark Shea; Course length is 16 weeks. 2nd Corinthians In Paul's Letters to Corinthians he addresses ongoing problems experienced in the Church at Corinth. Paul tackles each of these problems with his typical spiritual zeal, strengthening their faith and commitment to build up the Body of Christ. Two thousand years later, we struggle with much the same problems; Paul's words of wisdom are both pertinent and valuable! Commentaries by Steve Ray; Course length is 12 weeks.
