Northern Norway is recovering from another winter storm. Electricity was back Friday morning in most households in the counties of Troms and Nordland, after extensive power outings on Thursday, due to a fierce winter storm which stopped air travel and damaged buildings in the region. [Join the crowd!! - ED] Record high opposition to EU membership. Twenty years ago Friday, Norway voted no to EU membership in a second referendum, and the opposition to Norwegian membership in the Union is now higher than ever, at 74 per cent. The latest Sentio poll shows that only 16.8 per cent are in favor of membership, while 9.2 per cent are undecided, when asked if Norway should become a member of EU, Nationen Norway faces a new terror threat. There is an increased risk of a terror attack taking place in Norway within the next year, according to the Security Police (PST). This time, however, the threat is directed towards the police and military [sound familiar?], not the public, PST explains in a press conference. The Security Police (PST) presented a new analysis on Wednesday that illustrates a greater terror threat against Norway in the coming year. RECIPES (Ann Gesme) Flatbread Cream 1/2 cup shortening and 1/3 cup sugar Add: 1 cup buttermilk, and 1-1/2 cups All-bran cereal soaked in 1 cup lukewarm water. Mix together and add: 3-1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp soda, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp baking powder The dough will be rather soft. Take about 1/3 cup dough and roll very thin on a floured pastry cloth, using a stocking-covered rolling pin. Bake on a lefse griddle. Lefse 1 c. water 3 c. milk 1 c. whipping cream 1 stick + 2T. butter (total 10 Tbsp) or try 5 tablespoons 3-1/2 t. salt Place ingredients above in a sauce pan. Heat until butter is melted and it begins to boil. Remove from heat and add 4C. Hungry Jack potato flakes. Stir well. Cool completely in refrigerator (several hours, or overnight). When mixture is completely cooled, add 2C. flour. Mix with a pastry blender. Roll out on floured pastry cloth and bake on lefse griddle. I use about 1/3 cup for each round. EXERCISE NOTE If you are doing anything to stay in condition, from walking in a mall, to biking, to swimming, to stretching, to lifting small weights, see Verl Lekwa and get started on the SON exercise medal ladder. It acts as an incentive to stay healthy. OLE and LENA When Lena tried to give the phone operator her phone number on a long distance call, the operator inquired, Do you have an area code? No, said Lena. Yust a little sinus trouble. Ole was filling out a questionnaire. To the question regarding church preference, Ole put down: Red brick with white trim" 2
