DON T BE ANXIOUS Today s Meditation People have, it seems, a natural penchant for misplaced emphasis on unimportant things. They can easily get caught up with what they re having for dinner or what they will wear. Often it is a tragedy that helps people to refocus on what is really important. What I shall wear is an irrelevant question when I am facing surgery or chemotherapy. What s for dinner is immaterial to those living through grief or unemployment. In today s Gospel, Jesus tells us not to worry. He doesn t say, Don t eat. Don t cook. Don t buy clothes. He says, Don t worry. Jesus asks us not to relinquish our responsibilities but to let go of our anxiety. Anxiety betrays a lack of trust and Jesus reminds us that Your heavenly Father knows all that you need (Matthew 6:32). Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Pastoral Council 2017 PARISH DIRECTORY Do you want to become more involved in your Parish Community? Do you enjoy working with others to solve problems or develop new initiatives? Then you may want to consider serving on the Pastoral Council. The Nominations Committee is currently seeking individuals willing to serve on the Pastoral Council. If you are interested in serving or would like to recommend a candidate for the open positions, please contact Darlene Stowe at dstowe@saintanthonycatholic.com. Nominations are open through February 28. The purpose of the Pastoral Council is to foster full participation of the entire parish in the pastoral life and mission of the parish. It is solely a consultative body with the role of advising and assisting the Pastor in those pastoral matters presented to it by the Pastor. The Pastoral Council develops and recommends parish pastoral plans and directions through a consensus process and prayerful reflection. The St. Anthony Pastoral Council consists of 6 atlarge members, 6 appointed members, 1 school community member, 1 multicultural community member, the pastor, any other clergy and deacons assigned to the parish. A council member must be a parishioner of St. Anthony Church, in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, comfortable offering advice and counsel to the pastor, collaborative and willing to work towards building consensus. The members of the Council serve at the discretion of the Pastor for a term of three years. CYO NEWS CYO is open to all 7-12 th graders who are interested in learning more about their faith and having some fun at the same time! Baked Goods Needed The Women of St. Anthony Is asking their members to drop off baked goods to the Parish Center for the Fish Fry on Friday, March 3 rd ST. PATRICK S DAY DISPENSATION This year, the feast of St. Patrick fall on a Friday during the penitential season of Lent. Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone has granted a general dispensation from the obligation of abstaining from meat on March 17, 2017, to all members of the Catholic Church within the Diocese of Charleston. Catholics fast and abstain during Lent to unite in the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to prepare to rejoice in his Resurrection. In lieu of this, the bishop recommends that anyone who avails himself or herself of the dispensation substitute another form of penance, prayer, or almsgiving to the poor in its place at another time during the remainder of the Lenten season.

CATHOLIC RADIO We have access to good Catholic programming in the Florence area. Tune in and check it out! Él no dice: No coman. No cocinen. No compren ropa. Él dice: No te preocupes. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
