Book of Remembrance You are welcome to include the names of your dearly departed in our Book of Remembrance during the month of November. Praying for the Faithful Departed It is the practice of Christians to pray for those who have died. When we depart this life, we continue our journey to God and are prepared to meet him face to face. This preparation (cleansing or purification) is necessary to remove all stain of sin or remaining imperfection. God s grace achieves this in us, and special graces are granted in the month of November when we pray for the dead, visit a church or cemetery. These graces are called indulgences, and although they ve gotten a bad press over the years, they are a way for us help the Holy Souls by our prayers. From 12 noon on All Saints Day (Nov 1st), until midnight on Nov. 2nd, all have who confessed, received Holy Communion and prayed for the Pope s intentions (Our Father, Hail Mary or any other prayer of one s choice) can gain one plenary indulgence for the faithful departed by visiting a church or oratory and there reciting the Our Father and the Apostle s Creed. Confession made be made at any time within a week before or after 1st Nov. A plenary indulgence for the Holy Souls may also be gained once every day from Nov. 1st to 9th by visiting a cemetery having fulfilled the same conditions. Evening Mass on All Soul s Day Monday 2nd November at 7.30pm
