2017 Mission ONE Thanksgiving Report

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 WE GIVE THANKS for God s blessings upon Mission ONE this past year highlighted in this annual Thanksgiving Report. Our hearts are overwhelmed with the goodness and faithfulness of our Lord. WE GIVE THANKS for the fruitful ministries of Mission ONE s partnering organizations in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Thousands are being transformed by the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ; hundreds of new churches are being planted among the new disciples; marginalized women, children, and refugees are being served and uplifted; and communities are being transformed through missional business. WE GIVE THANKS for the significant impact of Mission ONE s training ministries in the USA and around the world. Hundreds of mission leaders are being empowered through our training resources and conferences. These leaders are then able to train other faithful men and women who continue the training in their local ministries. WE GIVE THANKS for God s sustaining grace through trials and challenges. The verse above instructs us to give thanks in all circumstances. As we navigate through this season at

Mission ONE, we are experiencing the comfort, guidance, and strength of the Holy Spirit. We are pressing on into a deeper intimacy with the Lord and into a hope-filled future at Mission ONE. WE GIVE THANKS for those of you who pray, give, and encourage. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to Christ and His kingdom work. You are standing with us shoulder to shoulder and heart to heart as we obey our Lord s command to go into all the world and preach the gospel in word and deed. One of my favorite hymns declares, My hope is built on nothing less / Than Jesus blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame / But wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand / All other ground is sinking sand. WE GIVE THANKS for that solid Rock upon which our lives and Mission ONE stand. We have a deep sense of His presence. Thinking of you as we count our blessings Bob Schindler Founder / Global Ambassador To everyone s surprise, while walking down a path in Kenya last June, Wilfred Githongo (far left) and Bob Schindler ran into an elder from the Kijabe Town church where Bob preached on his first trip to Kenya in 1988. Mission ONE trains and mobilizes the Church, focusing on cross-cultural partnerships to engage the unreached and serve the poor and oppressed.

People saved and following Jesus churches planted a desperate stepmother feeds her children joy and praises glory to God! Reaching the unreached in Kenya Most of the unreached places in Kenya are in the north, which is totally desert. These are also the most remote areas of Kenya. Pastor Mutitika has been in the area for 15 years and has planted two big churches there. We trained five pastors in the last year and two of them, Pastors Wuweru and Ekuwom, have already planted churches! Pastor Ekuwom s church is in a remote area near Hell s Gate park. His church is strong and full of men and women plus youth. NEO Kenya Team Funds to buy food to survive There were children whose stepmother attempted to poison them because she did not have enough food to feed them. They sought protection at the church and the pastor called an urgent meeting to raise money to buy them food. Mission ONE provided funds to buy food to survive. EFCSS South Sudan Team Eighty-five were saved the bees streamed out of the house Our team preached in a village and 2,000 people attended. Eight-five were saved. Praise God! After the crusade, a couple came to me and asked me to visit their home. A swarm of bees had inhabited their home and they could not get rid of them. I went with them and rebuked the evil spirits and commanded the bees to leave. With all the people watching, the bees streamed out of the house. There was joy and praises from the whole village for hours. Glory to God! NEO Kenya Team

Medical ministry to the destitute delivering women from oppression through job training missional business partnership She could not hide her joy A mother and one-year-old child walked ten miles to our KenSud medical facility because no government hospitals were open during the strike. She was in much pain and the child had a high fever. They received food and observation for the night. In the morning, she could not hide her joy and appreciation. KenSud East Africa Team A missional business to help oppressed women in Kenya through Mission ONE We traveled with Mission ONE this summer to Kenya to meet Wilfred, Rahab and Zack Githongo of the NEO Kenya Team along with several of the women who are in the sewing ministry. We were inspired! It is an honor to witness the work of our Lord. Hearing stories from several of the girls who have been rescued from prostitution through the sewing ministry was a powerful testimony to the transforming grace of God. Our Lord is alive! We want to continue supporting the sewing ministry in the months and years ahead. It is our dream to partner with Mission ONE s NEO Kenya Team to create one-of-a-kind products. In turn, we hope to bring the products to the States and share with our audience. We envision the sewing ministry graduates being able to complete their training and have the option to stay and be discipled and support their family using their newly learned skills to reach more lives for Christ. Good jobs sustainability and empowerment missional business deliverance from evil through Jesus Christ partnership amidst persecution Praise God for the sacha inchi project With the sacha inchi project, we counteract the view that Christianity is not local or indigenous. Through this project, funding for evangelism arises from local resources. People are now empowered. You are no longer their answer. God became their answer through the work of their hands. I would not walk back to the time when we were dependent on you and your help. We will always need your prayer, encouragement, teaching, and presence, but our partnership has moved into a higher phase. MEM Thailand Team Delivered from the bondage of evil Rani was suffering for six months. She sought help with several sorcerers and Hindu temples and went on pilgrimages, but it was all in vain. Finally, she was brought to church for prayer. Rani was completely delivered from the bondage of evil and received Christ as her Savior. She was baptized and attends church regularly with her family. Praise the Lord! HBI India Team I covet your prayers like never before A radical Hindu group occupied the Cornerstone campus by force. They attempted to kidnap me. By God s grace I escaped. The LORD has made a way for us to retrieve our files from the campus and to file a legal appeal to the high court. They attempted to bribe the judge. I need you to hold my hands up and stand in the gap and pray. This campus is the LORD s and it s for His kingdom. We are taking it back. We need a miracle to have this given back to us. This is a trying time. I appreciate your friendship and partnership. CWC India Team

Investing in leaders through marriage retreats healthy marriages for healthy ministries preaching through the Jesus film Their marriage has hope now When they sat in this retreat, Dawa said, Now I understand why my wife gets angry with me all the time. It is because I don t listen to her. His wife, Shanti said, Now I understand that I was not angry with his decision to be the next pastor, but I felt angry because Dawa was not listening to me. When Bob talked about communication, it opened their eyes and both of them prayed together and made a commitment that they will listen to each other and help each other become who God wants them to be. In fact, their marriage is saved. Their marriage has hope now. The students are getting theological training, but if their families are not doing well, then this learning will go in vain. I knew some leaders were going through a tough time in their families. I was praying for a conference to strengthen the marriage. Bob and Linda accepted my request. They came and conducted a two-day retreat. They not only taught from their notes, but from their lives, which was very powerful. TN Nepal Team Muslim couple watches Jesus film daily Pastor Bashir has been preaching by playing the Jesus movie. He played a movie for a group and afterward an older Muslim couple asked for a copy. Later this year he returned and played the movie again. The same couple stood up and testified that they watched that movie every day. By watching the Jesus movie, we have been blessed by Jesus Christ. All of the 150 people clapped for them. RCPC Pakistan Team

Serving hundreds of Syrian and Iraqi refugee families food security and shelter friendship evangelism social cohesion for children We mourned our losses, but now Kareema and her family lived in Mosel, Iraq their whole life until ISIS started to take over their area. Bombs and gunfire became a part of their everyday life. They fled to Lebanon, where God sent a Christian brother to them. He cared for them and brought them to church. Kareema said, We wept a lot and mourned our losses, but now we thank God for ISIS! God has used ISIS to bring us back to Him! Middle East Team I want all my family to know Jesus Abbad is from a fanatic Muslim Sunni background. He came to Lebanon five years ago. He slowly became our key leader among the Syrian Sunni refugees. After watching our ministry for four years, he started wondering: Why does Jesus call for love and forgiveness while Mohammed calls for war and hatred? Why does the Christian show unconditional love, while the Muslim does not love anyone but the Muslim? Today, Abbad stands fast in the Lord and he says, Jesus is the only Lord of my life and I want all my family to know Jesus. Middle East Team Christmas gifts to children We distributed over 300 Christmas gifts to children. We told stories about Jesus and heard stories from the kids about how they would not have been able to get gifts any other way. We told them the source of the gifts and how the kids in the U.S. love them and wanted to bring joy to their hearts during this bad situation. The kids and their parents were very thankful. Mission ONE Training Ministries blessing individuals training nationals and equipping leaders impacting the Church around the world Investing in God s kingdom through the Honor-Shame Conference Thank you for investing so much of the time, energy and skill of the Mission ONE team in the Honor-Shame Conference. This might be Mission ONE s most valuable contribution of partnering in the global church and investing in God s kingdom. Steven Hawthorne, PhD We learned how Jesus covers our shame and restores our honor It was a pleasure having Werner Mischke lead our Honor-Shame conference in Newport Beach, CA, September 16, 2017. He is a gifted communicator, event host and Bible teacher. His passion and expertise of the subject matter moved our hearts. His personal stories resonated with our audience, many of whom work directly with Muslims and Middle Easterners. We learned how Jesus covers our shame and restores our honor. We will recommend his material to ministry leaders and incorporate the honor-shame message into our media projects and outreaches. Shirin Taber, Director, Middle East Womens Leadership Network The honor-shame oriented gospel is the urgent need Most of the honor-shame dynamics are present in Indian society. But quite often Christians fail to present the gospel that would be more apt for our communities. The honor-shame oriented gospel is the urgent need of the community who are going through domestic violence, honor killing, and cultural conflicts. HBI student, India
