Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; And that is what some of you were. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. by the power of signs and wonders, through the power of the Spirit of God. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. [ Doing Good to All ] Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. which was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God s holy apostles and prophets. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel [ Imitating Christ s Humility ] Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. Do not quench the Spirit. The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us. God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will. [ Warning Against Unbelief ] So, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who 7

Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead, so that they might be judged according to human standards in regard to the body, but live according to God in regard to the spirit. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. The one who keeps God s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit. These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 8
