Missionary Intention: That the celebration of World Mission Day may help all Christians realize that we are not only receivers but proclaimers of God's word. Please keep in your prayers: Loretta Patrick, John Jones, Michelle Dusek, Kenny Ulrich, Gerry Williams, Sophia Crowder, Florence Schumacher, those from our local area serving in the military, and the Poor Souls in Purgatory. Anyone who needs to have prayers said for someone can call: Brenda Rummel at 301-0936; Jean Niebur at 654-2822. Names will be listed in the bulletin for one month unless specified. Carpeting Replacement The carpeting on the main floor of St. Mary s church has served the parish well for 30 years, but is overdue for replacement. In preparation for replacement, a number of parishioners have been asked to assist in choosing new carpeting. Art s Furniture has given us an estimate of $9100 to replace all carpeting on the main floor, including the sanctuary and entrance. Any contributions to defray the expense of replacement will be greatly appreciated! UPDATE: The carpeting has arrived at Art s! Unfortunately, it may be some time before it can be installed. It s hoped that the work will be done by the First Sunday of Advent, December 1, 2013. Pro - Life Messages Some who defend abortion claim that one is "truly human" only when able to reason, to choose, and to be creative. Yet a book about how to perform abortions contains this quote: "Surely embryos and fetuses do none of these things. In fact, neither do newborns, and there's the rub. Presumably it would be equally as acceptable to destroy newborns as fetuses, since both are in the same prehuman boat" (Second Trimester Abortion: Perspectives After a Decade of Experience, Berger et al., eds., p. 215). Think about it. You also can visit the International website for additional information http://www.retrouvaille.org/ Stewardship and Development Stewardship Thought: Today's passages from the Second Book of Kings and St. Luke's Gospel witness the healing of foreigners of leprosy. In Kings, Naaman is advised to seek out the prophet Elisha for healing. After much reluctance, he follows Elisha's advice and is cured. In gratitude, Naaman builds an altar in his homeland to worship God. In the Gospel, 10 lepers meet Jesus on His way to Jerusalem and are healed. But only one, a Samaritan, returns to thank Him. As stewards on life's journey, do we remember to express gratitude for our blessings from the Lord, or do we take these gifts for granted and follow the path of the other nine healed lepers? Parish Development Thought: Do you ever have the urge to make a gift to our Church, but then are stopped short because you don't know what to give to or how to make the gift? Even who to talk to? Do you wonder who will be shepherding your gift once you make it and even if it will be used the way you want? All good questions. God put it upon our hearts to give, but man sometimes complicates the process! Let's keep it simple. Contact the Office of Stewardship and Development at 406-727-6683 ext.120. St. Mary s PCCW Saint Mary s PCCW will be selling chances on a barrel of groceries at the fall dinner. Please put your donations in the barrel in the back of the church. Thank You Confessions: Saturdays 4-5 p.m., 1/2 hour before daily Mass (Mon.- Fri.) or by appointment Anointing of the Sick: Please contact Fr. Cory as soon as possible for anointing. Baptism: Normally celebrated at Sunday Mass. Parental sessions are required. Marriages: Six month couple preparation period required. Please contact Fr. Cory before scheduling marriage date. Mass Intentions As Catholics, we have a long tradition of having Masses celebrated for those we wish to offer up in prayer. The Mass is the ultimate form of prayer, and each Mass is celebrated for an intention. Please consider having Masses celebrated for family and friends on special occasions and anniversaries, as well as those who are in need of prayers. Masses are also encouraged in memory of those loved ones who have died, especially on the anniversaries of their deaths. Contact Fr. Cory for more information! Follow us on Facebook and Twitter!
