Pastoral Vacancy Announcement (Application Period: May 15, 2017 August 8, 2017) Saint James of Valdosta, Georgia is prayerfully seeking a full-time pastor, called by God, who will be the spiritual leader of the congregation. The pastor is responsible to God and the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Bible, to provide Christian leadership in all areas of the church, to counsel, preach to lead others to Christ, and to engage in pastoral care for the congregation and community. The pastor must be a leader with sound biblical doctrine as listed in 1Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Saint James is seeking a licensed and ordained pastor who is called by God and equipped by the Spirit to teach and preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Cobb in his home on Branch Street (currently Martin Luther King Dr.) in Valdosta, Georgia. Rev. Cobb and other baptized believers who reposed faith wholly in the Lord Jesus Christ served to fulfill the calling and mission of the church. This is an autonomous, sovereign Baptist church which is democratically governed by and with the consent of its members. The polity and practices of this church are patterned after the churches of the New Testament. Purpose The purpose of this church is the preaching and teaching of the Word of God; the administration of the ordinances of the New Testament baptism and the Lord s Supper; the spiritual improvement of its members; ministering to its own community; and the spread of the Gospel in all the earth. Qualifications (not all inclusive) Must be a licensed and ordained Baptist Minister having demonstrated a commitment to The Call. Meet scriptural criteria as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Jeremiah 3:15, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4 and 2 Peter 1:3-11. Strong Christian faith and prayer life A commitment to support and promote the mission and focus of Saint James Missionary Baptist Church by providing Bible-based guidance and education as well as adhering to the church s doctrinal and mission.
