Spiritual community - A positive path for spiritual living July 2016 Minister's Message "Don't let anyone steal your spirit!" -Sinbad How often have we allowed someone, or some situation to steal our spirit? How many times have we given our power away to another person to have something or that someone in our lives - only to find it wasn't worth what we gave up? No one can rob us of our blessings like we can. There is an epidemic many of us participate in called "people-pleasing" and it is often the cause of upset and disappointment. When you and I do things we don't really want to do or feel comfortable with in an attempt to please others - we are allowing our spirits to be depleted. Don't do something with resentment; don't agree with something that goes against your own personal truth or morals to fit in; in the bigger picture we disrespect and harm ourselves. The greatest thief to our spirit is us! We rob ourselves of our integrity - we rob ourselves of our peace of mind when we go against what our hearts are calling us to do or not to do. Be true to yourself. Be authentic in why you won't or can't do something. Speak clearly, speak calmly and be at peace that you spoke your truth. Please understand - If you made an agreement to do something and you don't want to do it - or can't do it - then we must be willing to make another agreement so that we remain in integrity. Not showing up - not keeping our word is even more damaging to our spiritual growth. Don't rob yourself of your blessings - don't rob another by not honoring your agreements. What we give - we get back! TODAY I AM CLEAR THAT I WILL NOT ROB ANOTHER OF THEIR BLESSINGS AND I WILL NOT ROB MYSELF OF MINE. I STAY IN INTEGRITY BY BEING A PERSON OF MY WORD. Serving on the Prayer Team is a little different than serving on other teams at Unity. One of the differences is that a series of three training classes are required. We only offer this training about every two years. On Saturday, July 23, from 9:00-11:00, we will have an Inquirer's Class to answer questions and describe what we do and why we do it. We will also practice "holding Sacred Space," which is a major function of the Prayer Team. Those that wish to continue with the training will have input in choosing the next training dates. Deciding to serve on the Prayer Team is usually a "Spirit-led" decision. No prior experience or formal training is necessary to participate in the training sessions. After completion of the three training sessions, participants then decide if they wish to make the commitment to join the team. My commitment to the Prayer Team has been a transformative soul work that continues to deepen my spiritual path. If you have felt the call to serve, now is the time to answer that call. Sign up on the Prayer Team clipboard at the back of the church and I will contact you with more details about the July 23 class.
