Stewardship Strategic Objectives /2016 Updated as of April The strategic objectives of the Stewardship Committee for 16 are to be aligned with the vision of St. John Vianney becoming a stewardship parish, fully committed to the opportunities and responsibilities of that goal. The Stewardship Committee Guidelines state that the Committee "is responsible for promoting and nurturing the ongoing stewardship efforts of the parish. The Committee is committed to building a community of prayer and hospitality which welcomes and affirms all gifts. At its core, the Committee is responsible for the design and implementation of the stewardship renewal. In addition, the Committee develops programs for welcoming new parishioners, designs creative tools which invite all parishioners to share their time, talent and treasures and assists with the placement of voluntary ministry talents through the LINK office." Toward this purpose the following are our current objectives: Growing in our Understanding of Stewardship Goal: All Committee members and parishioners will grow in their understanding of what it means to be a Christian steward and how to best live that out in our daily lives. Possible Activities: Each Stewardship Committee meeting will include some time for discussion and prayer in order to grow individually and as a group as Christian stewards The Committee will send at least two members to the annual International Catholic Stewardship Conference (lcsc) in Chicago on October 22 25,, to learn best practices from other stewardship parishes Review and revise (if necessary) our new parishioner activities (breakfasts, initiation meetings, etc.) Identify and study other parishes that have achieved tuition free Catholic schooling and what they did to get there (or are doing to achieve that goal) Sharing of Time Goal: That each parishioner will share a sacrificial portion of their gift of Time in prayer and the study of their faith every day
Possible Activities: Sharing of Talent Tally the number of parishioners/families that have committed to a routine of at least 10 minutes of daily prayer Evaluate the prayer commitment responses and develop ways to effectively promote and support the efforts of those who have made the commitment, including creative use of the bulletin, posters, Mass announcements and/or social media Evaluate ways that will help to increase the number of parishioners who accept the "10 minute challenge" going forward Goal: That each parishioner will share a sacrificial portion of their gift of Talent in serving others Possible Activities: Continue to advocate for ministry involvement through bulletin announcements (incl. Let's Live Like That" stewardship messages), homily mentions, and various other methods of communication Consider a "First Serve" means of encouraging parishioners to begin to get involved in parish ministry Highlight in some way those ministries most in need of volunteers Sharing of Treasure Goal: That each parishioner will share a sacrificial portion of their gift of Treasure with SJV and the world Possible Activities/Changes : Transition to an every other year renewal format Continue to emphasize stewardship over fundraising Revamp the treasure renewal to assertively reach all parishioners and work toward getting more responses and increased gifts Create and begin to implement a planned giving program
