The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "After me you will see others given preference to you; so be patient till you meet me at the Hawd (i.e. Lake of Kauthar). (on the Day of Resurrection). ب ن د ار م ح م د بن ب ش ار بن ع ث م ان بن د او د بن ك ي س ان (ع) - - - - These names are worth remembering, these are people who spent their lives in preserving ahadith - Usayd b. Hudayr was the leader of the Ansar

- Tasta milunee: give me some authority, position of leadership - Uthrah: Others being preferred over you - This hadith has been narrated in other Books of hadith also: Other chains The man spoke privately ع ن أ س ي د ب ن ح ض ري أ ن ر ج لا م ن الا ن ص ار خ لا ب ر س ول الل ه ﷺف ق ال أ لا ت س ت ع م ل ن ى ك ام اس ت ع م ل ت ف لا ن ا ف ق ال إ ن ك م س ت ل ق و ن ب ع د ى أ ث ر ة ف اص بر وا ح تى ت ل ق و ىن ع لى ال ح و ض [صحیح مسلم:[ 4885 It has been narrated on the authority of Usaid b. Hudair that a man from the Ansar took the Messenger of Allah aside and said to him: Will you not appoint me (ﷺ) (ﷺ) governor as you have appointed so and so? He said: You will surely come across preferential treatment after me, so you should be patient until you meet me at the Cistern (Haud-i-Kauthar). - When we look at the various narrations of the same hadith we learn different details. So here we see that the man asked the Prophet (s) privately In situations where there is bias, after Sabr the second thing to do: Give others their rights and ask Allah for yours ع ن ع ب د الل ه ق ال ق ال ل ن ا ر س ول الل ه ﷺ إ ن ك م س تر و ن ب ع د ي أ ث ر ة و أ م ور ا ت ن ك ر ون ه ا ق ال وا ف ام ت ا م ر ن ا ي ا ر س ول الل ه ق ال أ دوا إ ل ي ه م ح قه م و س ل وا الل ه ح قك م [صحيح البخاری: 7052] (ﷺ) Narrated `Abdullah, he said: Allah's Messenger said to us, "You will see after me, others will be given

preference over you, and (you will see) other matters that you will disapprove of." They asked, "What do you order us to do, O Allah's Messenger?(ﷺ) (under such circumstances)?" He said, "Pay their rights to them and ask your right from Allah. - - There are many things to learn from this - Firstly, that in the life of th eprophet (s) as there were many conquests, the Prophet (s) appointed different people as governors, so a man from the Ansar wished for such a position also - USayd b. Hudayr did not narrate the name of this sahabi, in order to preserve his honour - When the man asked this qesiton, the PRophet (s) did not answer him -with a yes or no - instead he told him about more things he would see in the future that would hurt him, so he (s) urged him to be patient - These were the Ansar who are being told to be patient: The Ansar who worked so hard for the cause of ISlam - they began the work, they sacriliced their lives and properties - women became widows and children were orphaned - and now with conquests other people were being given big postions. Some times it happens with us also that we work so hard and other people come and reap the fruit, they come and enjoy it. And we are excluded from it. So when you are in this situation what should you do? Observe patient, fullil your obligations and ask Allah for your

rights. At such times, you may want to quit, give up that there is no point for you to continue and keep working shaytan harms the servant here. - As parents also, you work so hard to look after your children: your blood, sweat, money and when they grow up and get married they forget you this happens in many things in life: family, business, etc. You start the work, you make it grow and then you are kicked out of it. Similarly you may have been a major part of an organization, you built its foundation and then you are removed, pushed out. you have no part in it anymore. So the Prophet (s) s advice: much worse things will happen, so be patient, dont lose heart. What great wisdom of the Prophet (S) - he prepared this companion and the rest of the Ansar for the bias they were going to face in the future. HE said, be patient: you do your job, fullill your obligation and Allah will not waste your reward - so meet me at the HAwd! What a great reward for those who are patient. ف اص بر وا ح تى ت ل ق و ين ع لى ال ح و ض..so be patient till you meet me at the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar).. The Prophet (s) s meeting with the Ansar at Hawd Kawthar The first meeting will be at the Hawd

ع ن ال نب ي ص لى الل ه ع ل ي ه و س ل م أ ن ا ف ر ط ك م ع لى ال ح و ض [صحيح البخاری: 6575] Prophet (ﷺ) said: I shall be there at the Cistern before you. إ ن ك م س تر و ن ب ع د ي أ ث ر ة ف اص بر وا ح تى ت ل ق و ين ع لى ال ح و ض [البخاری: 3163] Prophet (ﷺ) said: "After me you will see others given preference over you in this respect (in which case) you should be patient till you meet me at the Tank (of Al- Kauthar). Many Ansar at the Hawd أ ن ن ب ى الل ه صلى الله عليه وسلم ق ال إ ىن ل ب ع ق ر ح و ضى أ ذ ود ال ناس لا ه ل ال ي م ن أ ضر ب ب ع ص اى ح تى ي ر ف ض ع ل ي ه م [صحيح مسلم: 6130] Prophet (ﷺ) said: (On the Day of Judgement) I will be in the back part of the Hawd and I would be pushing back the crowd for the people of Yemen and I would strike them away with my staff until the water (of the Haud) would spout forth for them. - People of Yemen: Ansar - meaning, today if people push you away, then tomorrow I will push others away from you so that you drink the water of Hawd. The water of the Hawd will flow towards them وهذه كرامة لا هل اليمن في تقدميهم في الشرب منه مجازاة لهم بحسن صنيعهم وتقدمهم في الاسلام والا نصار من اليمن فيدفع غريهم حتى يشربوا كام دفعوا في الدنيا عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أعداءه والمكروهات ومعنى يرفض عليهم أي يسيل عليهم [صحيح مسلم بشرح النووي] The statement ي 0 ر ف 0 ض ع 0 ل ي ه م means, that the water will flow and come towards them.

Imam Nawawi has written in the explanation of Sahih Muslim, This honour is for the people of Yemen, so that they are given preference in drinking water, because they quickly embraced Islam, and offered their best services. The Ansar are from the people of Yemen. The Prophet (s) will move other people away so that they will be able to drink, just like in this world these people defended the Prophet (s) from his enemies, and protected him from hardship. - Hawd Kawthar: What is it like? - Every Prophet will have a hawd on the day of Judgment, and each will boast about how busy it will be, and I hope that mine will be the most frequented one. His minbar will be upon the hawd, and he will arrive there before the people to welcome them. Someone requested the Prophet (S) for intercesiion on the day of Judgment, he said come Lind me - where will I found you? Search for me at the Bridge, or by the Scales or the HAwd - I will be in one of these three places. The width of hawd kawthar is like the distance between San aa and Madina. Its soil is of pure musk, its pebbles are pearls and both its borders are of towers of pearls. There are two streams one of silver and one of gold reaching it coming from paradise. ITs cups on its sides more numerous than the stars int he sky - its water colder

than ice, more fragrant than musk, sweeter than honey and whiter than milk. Whoever will drink one sip of it will never become thirsty, and his face will never become gloomy. Who will drink it? THose who hold on to the Sunnah, who strive in the way of Allah. People frequeting it most: fuqaraa muhajireen and those who invent things in the religion will be deprived from it even though tthey will tell him (s) about their lineage and th eone who rejects its existence will not drink from it. - Huge, beautiful, thirst quenching water. for who? The one who remains patient in the way of Allah, remains Lirm on Quran and sunnah the Ansar will come and the Prophet (s) will make way for them, pushing other people aside for their sake. Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet (ﷺ) said to the Ansar, "After me you will see others given preference over you; so be patient till you meet me, and your promised place (of meeting) will be the Tank (i.e. Lake of Kauthar). - Uthrah: To prefer oneself over others, as in not give them their right and take theirs

- His advice: do not rebel, be patient, fullill your obligations - ب ن د ار م ح مد بن ب شار بن ع ث ام ن بن د او د بن ك ي س ان (ع) 3222 The Prophet (s) s special advice to Ansar to observe patience Patience regarding worldly matters ع ن ع م ر و ب ن ع و ف و ه و ح ل يف ب ن ي ع ام ر ب ن ل و ي و ك ان ش ه د ب د ر ا م ع ر س ول الل ه ﷺ أ ن ر س ول الل ه ﷺ ب ع ث أ ب ا ع ب ي د ة ب ن ال ج راح إ لى ال ب ح ر ي ن ي ا يت ب ج ز ي ت ه ا و ك ان ال نب ي ﷺ ه و ص ال ح أ ه ل ال ب ح ر ي ن و أ مر ع ل ي ه م ال ع لا ء ب ن ال ح ضر م ي ف ق د م أ ب و ع ب ي د ة مب ال م ن ال ب ح ر ي ن ف س م ع ت الا ن ص ار ب ق د وم أ يب ع ب ي د ة ف و اف و ا ص لا ة ال ف ج ر م ع ر س ول الل ه ﷺ ف ل ام ص لى ر س ول الل ه ﷺ ان صر ف ف ت ع رض وا ل ه ف ت ب سم ر س ول الل ه ﷺ ح ني ر آه م ث م ق ال أ ظ نك م س م ع ت م أ ن أ ب ا ع ب ي د ة ق د م ب شي ء م ن ال ب ح ر ي ن ق ال وا أ ج ل ي ا ر س ول الل ه ق ال أ ب شر وا و أ مل وا م ا ي سر ك م ف و الل ه م ا ال ف ق ر أ خ شى ع ل ي ك م و ل ك ني أ خ شى ع ل ي ك م أ ن ت ب س ط ال دن ي ا ع ل ي ك م ك ام ب س ط ت ع لى م ن ك ان ق ب ل ك م ف ت ن اف س وه ا ك ام ت ن اف س وه ا ف ت ه ل ك ك م ك ام أ ه ل ك ت ه م [سنن ابن ماجة: 3997 ] It was narrated from Amr bin Awf, who was an ally of Banu Amir bin Lu ai and was present at (the battle of) Badr with the Messenger of Allah,(ﷺ) (he said) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Abu Ubaidah bin Jarrah to Bahrain to collect the Jizyah, and the Prophet (ﷺ) had made a treaty with the people of Bahrain, and he appointed as their governor Ala bin Hadrami. Abu Ubaidah came with the wealth from Bahrain and the Ansar heard that Abu Ubaidah had come, so they attended the Fajr prayer with the Messenger of Allah had prayed, so (ﷺ) When the Messenger of Allah.(ﷺ) they came to him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) smiled when he saw them, then he said: I think you have heard

that Abu Ubaidah has brought something from Bahrain? They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. - How honest they were! He said: Be happy and hope for that which will make you happy. By Allah, I do not fear poverty for you, rather I fear that you will enjoy ease and plenty like those who came before you, and that you will compete with one another as they did, and you will be destroyed as they were. - Meaning with your Iman if you are in poverty then there is no harm,bu tif you have welath then it will distract you, corrput you: it will lead you to competition in increase, jealousy, pride, etc. Patience in political matters Malik reported, that Usayd b. Hudayr al-ash-hali was the naqeeb (leader, representative - just like 12 leaders were appointed for the bani Israel) and he came to the Prophet (s) and told him about a household of the Ansar who was suffering from extreme hunger. When the Prophet (s) distributed the food, he said, You did not say anything to us and now nothing is left from what was

in our hand, so now the next time you hear that there is some food then remind me of that family. He said, after that some food from Khayber was brought to the Prophet (s) that constituted of some barley and dates. He said that family was mostly of women. So the Prophet (s) distributed that food amongst the people, the Ansar and gave a lot, and also to that family. Usayd b. ج 0 زاك اهلل ي 0 ا ن 0 بي اهلل said, Hudayr thanked the Prophet (s) and May Allah reward you o Prophet of Allah on ع 0 نا أط 0 يب الج 0 زاء our behalf, abundantly and purely. So he (s) said, And you too o assembly of the Ansar, may Allah reward you with purest reward. All I know about you is that you refrain from asking and are amongst the patient, and after me you will see others being preferred in positions of power and life, so be patient until you see me at Hawd Kawthar. قالت: بل أصبر ولا أجعل الجنة خطرا [صحيح الا دب المفرد : 387 [ AbyHurayrah (r) reported that fever came to the Prophet (s) (in a person) and the person said, Allow me to stay with your family so the Prophet (s) sent him to the Ansar until he remained with them for six days and nights. So they also got high fever, and they complained to the Prophet (s), so he (s) went into every house and every

room and prayed for well-being for them. When the Prophet (s) was returning, a woman came after him and said, By the One who has sent you with the truth, am I from the Ansar and is my father from the Ansar also? The way you prayed for the Ansar, please for me also. The Prophet (S) said, What would you like? If you like I will pray for you to be safe from this fever, and if you want you can be patient and you will have paradise. She said I will be patient and not put my Jannah at risk. - - This does not mean we should not want relief from illness, but that we should observe patience with the treatment also. Patience over the loss of children Alqamah (r) reported that a woman from the Ansar came to the Prophet (s), regarding her son who had died and her people were very hard on her (that why are you going to tell the Prophet (s)?) so she said, Allah s Messenger (s), since I embraced Islam, besides this son I have also lost two other sons, so the Prophet (s) said, By Allah, you have a strong shield against the fire. - So if a person is patient over such loss then with his patience, he is safe from the punishment of hell

- So regarding many hardships, the PRophet (s) advised and encouraged the Ansar to observe patience. Narrated Yahya bin Sa`id: That he heard Anas bin Malik when he went with him to Al-Walid, saying, "Once the Prophet (ﷺ) called the Ansar in order to give them the territory of Bahrain but they said, 'No, unless you give to our emigrant brethren a similar share.' On that he said 'If you do not agree to it, then be patient till you meet me, for after me others will be given preference to you. ' امل س ن د ي أ ب و ج ع ف ر ع ب د اهلل بن م ح م د (خ) -- - - WAleed. khlaeefah in the Umawiyy / Umayyad era - When the Muhajirin were given, the Ansar were not given - they objected but later were Line. Here they are being given, but they are not willing to accept until the Muhajireen are also given, because their quality is: They prefer others over themselves even though they are themselves in need - Atharah / Uthrah: same word with different spellings

- The character, akhlaq of Ansar, their virtue: they preferred the muhajireen over themselves. Other chains of narration The Ansar s immediate response, we will be patient ع ن أ ن س ب ن م ال ك ق ال د ع ان ا ر س ول الل ه ﷺ ل ي ك ت ب ل ن ا ب ال ب ح ر ي ن ق ط يع ة ق ال ف ق ل ن ا لا إ لا أ ن ت ك ت ب لا خ و ان ن ا م ن ال م ه اج ر ين م ث ل ه ا ف ق ال إ ن ك م س ت ل ق و ن ب ع د ي أ ث ر ة ف اص بر وا ح تى ت ل ق و ين ق ال وا ف ا ن ا ن ص بر [مسند احمد: 12706] Anas (r) reported that once the Messenger of Allah (s) called us in ordert o distribute amongst us the wealth that had arrived from Bahrayn. But we said that first our Immigrant brothers share should be separated. Upon seeing this gnerosity the Prophet (s) said, After me you will see others being preferred over you, but you should be patience until you meet me. The Ansar said, we will definitely be patient. ف ا ن ك م س ت ج د ون أ ث ر ة ش د يد ة ف اص بر وا ح تى ت ل ق و ا الل ه و ر س ول ه ف ا ىن ع لى ال ح و ض ق ال وا س ن ص بر.[صحیح مسلم: 2483 ] You would find marked preference (in future), so you should show patience till you meet Allah and His Messenger and I would be at the Haud. " Anas said: We could not tolerate it. - - Meaning, we tried but were not able to obsrve it with excellence - You cannot gain ilm with physical comfort. - Sometimes with siblings also - you Lind some being preferred over you by your parents - but if you start backbiting about your own parents you are destroying your deeds - The Prophet (s) s wisdom, how he Linished the negative sentiment here. Advised them to observe sabr and hope for ajr in there hereafter. When we entertain such negativity, self-pity we fall in a ditch, we harm ourselves - The quality of the Ansar: not willing to take anything until their brothers are given what they are being given: for one cannot be a believer until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself - PAtience is not weakness, its strength because you are Lighting yourself - The sister is sharing her experience - that with her friend she was discussing this problem: how in their families they are being pushed away and they feel that others are taking their rights so she is thanking Ustadhah and she cannot wait till the end of class so she can share this with her friend also

So a group of them came to the Prophet (s) and upon seeing them he (s) said, Welcome! You have come to soft and fertile ground (be at home and feel easy), and it is your home (there is room for everyone), - - Compared to this just welcome is so plain. Ahlan wa sahlan is so much more meaningful! certainly some need of yours has brought you here. They said, By Allah, yes O Allah s Messenger (s). So they said, O Messenger of Allah (s), What about our children who are from non relatives? (Meaning, maternal grand children) So the Prophet (s) made dua for them also. He (s) said, O Allah increase his wealth, his children, give him a long life and forgive him. So regarding the first three things that the Prophet (s) prayed for me - so I have buried 103 of my children, and my land produces fruit twice a year I have been alive for so long that I am shy of people, and I hope that I will also be forgiven. The Dua for the wife of Julaybib (r) - No one was willing to marry him, but the Prophet (s) had him married to a girl from the Ansar. She married him simply because the Prophet (s) said so. After some time, Julaybib (r) was martyred in a battle, so the Prophet (S) enquired - who have you lost? people mentioned the names of their relatives, etc. but no

one mentioned Julaybib- he (s) said, I have lost Julaybib - and when they found his body, there were seven mushirkin killed around him - so he alone killed them. He (s) said, he is from me and I am from him, he (s) carried him and buried him himself.
