Lunch with God A little boy wanted to meet GOD. He knew it was a long trip to where GOD lived, so he packed his suitcase with twinkies and a six pack of root beer, and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her a twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word. As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later; his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with GOD."But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!" Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked, "Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with GOD." However, before her son responded, she added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected." Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally! Og Mandino "There has never been another you. With no effort on your part you were born to be something very special and set apart. What you are going to do in appreciation of that gift is a decision only you can make." Dan Zadra "Prosperity depends more on wanting what you have than having what you want." Geoffrey F. We had GFMBC Women s Revival and workshops on Thursday, September 12 and Friday, September 13, 2013. THE WORKSHOPS: Thursday s workshop facilitator was our own Sis. Lisa Crawford, who did a spectacular job educating us about the importance of Wills. She explained that everyone should have a Will in order to eliminate confusion when the time comes, especially a Living Will. We thank Sis. Crawford for sharing her time and knowledge with us. Friday s workshop facilitator was Sis. Lakeycia Garcia. Sis. Garcia focused on our young people. She explained the importance of maintaining a good image, by dressing and acting apprioprately at all times. She also explained that we should be careful not to put our personal business on social networks. We would like to thank Sis. Garcia for once again coming out to help us educate our young ladies. THE REVIVAL: The revival began each night at 7:30 pm. The speaker for the revival was Rev. Gloria Jackson Davis from New Shiloh Baptist Church. On Thursday night Rev. Davis taught from the scripture John 12:1-3 and from the subject The Worker, The Witness and The Worshiper Which one are you? On Friday night she taught from the scripture 1 Samuel 17:3 and the subject I can handle this As usual Rev. Davis blessed our souls. We are truly grateful to her of accepting our invitation to come revive us. The Women s Ministry would like to thank everyone you participated in the revival. Come, Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Risen Christ, be with us today and always. Be our Light, our Guide, and our Comforter. Be our Strength, our Courage, and our Sanctifier. May this new year be a time of deep spiritual growth for us, A time of welcoming your graces and gifts, A time for forgiving freely and unconditionally, A time for growing in virtue and goodness.
