We reflect on the love Jesus shows us in forgiving us and inviting us to reconcile with Him. Jesus is the source of peace in our hearts. He is patient with us, as He was with Thomas. If our faith falters or grows weak, Jesus does not abandon us, but continuously calls us to renewed faith and holiness. Jesus I trust in you. The Resurrection Joy The empty tomb, in ordinary human terms, raises doubts and confusion in our minds. We wonder what happened to our Lord. But for the believer who has truly experienced God s love that empty tomb is a sure sign of our Lord s victory over sin and death. Our faith in the risen Christ is not simply based on the empty tomb, but that empty tomb is the external sign that the Lord is not held down by the pangs of death. As the risen Lord continues to appear to his disciples, bestowing his peace on them, urging them to continue his ministry as his witnesses and essentially keeping his spirit alive in them, all of which helps the disciples to overcome their sadness. In our own Christian journey of faith as well, there are times when we feel disillusioned and doubtful like the disciples. There are moments when we find ourselves before the empty tomb of life and we wonder what to make of those situations. In such moments, we need to remember the words of our Lord telling us that anyone who believes in him would have eternal life. In those words, Jesus is calling us into a spiritual relationship where we encounter him as he comes into our lives to dispel our doubts and fears. It is a relationship where our Lord is continuously present to us and assures us of our inner peace, and most importantly, we are guaranteed of a new life awaiting us after our earthly life. It is also a relationship where we are expected to make choices for Christ, choices that are meant to rid our hearts of the old self and put on the new person with the risen Lord. In those choices, we are essentially saying to the world that we do believe by our actions. This indeed is The Resurrection Joy. Our joy is that we are a new people in the risen Christ and we should live as such. Father Ben
