God Will Help You Achieve Your Goals By Bill Marshall What is a Goal? A goal is something that you want to be, do, or have. If you take a look at your goals something you want to attain you can always classify them as be, do, or have goals. For example, let s say your goal is to earn or accumulate a specific amount of money. That would easily be classified as a have goal. Is your goal to travel to some luxurious location? That would be a do goal. Maybe you want to be a become a better spouse or parent. That would be a be goal. A goal is something you DESIRE. As we learned from Napoleon Hill in his classic book, DESIRE is the first step in the Think and Grow Rich formula. A goal should be specific something you can measure. You should be able to describe it so clearly that a young child would know exactly what you are talking about. My Perspective I am writing this from the perspective of a Bible believing Christian. I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life and I do my best to serve Him. I believe in God s commands as well as His promises. I believe that both go together. So greed and materialism have no place in my thinking. In fact, I believe that they are the opposite of true blessing, prosperity and abundance. Applying the achievement principles that God reveals in the Bible is NOT trying to use God for selfish means. In fact, selfishness has no role in God s system of success. As a Christian, I believe that true success means to develop the fruit of the Spirit as defined in Galatians Chapter 522-23. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22 23 (KJV) Think about it. A person who has developed these characteristics has developed the characteristics of a truly successful person. This type of person is a joy to work with and to do business with. I say this by introduction so that there is no misunderstanding about the importance of being a genuinely good, generous, and positive person.

How to Achieve Your Goals by Creating Your Reality In the book of Genesis, God said: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26-28 (KJV) God is the Creator. He created us in His own image and gave us dominion over the earth. We are natural born creators. A goal setter is someone who CREATES their reality. A goal setter is activating their God-given ability to set a goal and achieve it by using our creative powers. How do we activate our God-given creative powers? Let s look at how God created everything that is. And God SAID, Let there be light : and there was light. Genesis 1:3 (KJV) God SPOKE creation into existence. He used WORDS. Specifically, He used faithfilled words. And this is where affirmations, confessions, professions, declarations or whatever term you want to use help you achieve your goals. This is why writing out your goals is so effective: you are articulating the goal in words. You are literally creating your reality achieving your goals--with the words you choose. You will NOT automatically achieve your goals by speaking creative, faith-filled words. BUT creative faith-filled words are part of the creative process. Most of us use this process unconsciously by speaking to ourselves. Our self-talk. My purpose here is to help you use the process consciously and more consistently.

Let s examine some other passages in the Bible related to the Word of God, faith, the words that we speak, prayer, and attaining our desires (achieving our goals): Word of God God has established that all words are important. When God created the heavens and the earth, He SPOKE them into existence with His WORDS. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1:1-3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Psalm 33:6 The Bible is the Written Word of God. This is a great gift and gives us a great advantage. For at least these reasons: 1. These Words reveal God to us. 2. God s Words are eternal. For ever, O LORD, Thy word is settled in heaven. Psalm 119:89 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Mark 13:31 3. As we have seen, God s Words are creative. They are LIFE. It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4 4. Because they are written, we can quote/speak God s Words. When we speak God s Words, we release His creative power into our life.

5. God s spoken Word creates FAITH and belief. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 This book of the law (i.e., God s Word) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8 6. When we plant God s Word in our hearts (spirit, subconscious mind), we have God s promise to help us attain our desires achieve our goals. We plant God s Word in our hearts by study, meditation, prayer, listening to it, and speaking it out loud. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luke 11:28 The Power of Faith and the Spoken Word (i.e., Affirmations or Confessions) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 Faith, belief is the evidence of things not yet manifest. Your goal is something that you want that is to be manifest at some time in the future. So, it is not yet here. It is not yet manifest. You create your goal by speaking faith-filled words and taking faith-based actions. For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works (i.e. faith-based action) is dead also. James 2:26 Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall SAY unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart (i.e. spirit, subconscious mind), but shall BELIEVE that those things which he SAITH shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he SAITH. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye DESIRE (i.e. your goal), when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:22-24 This scripture very concisely describes the reason why affirmations or spoken words mixed with faith or belief are so important.

Here is another one: And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might SAY unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you. Luke 17:5 6 Faith is calling things which are not (our goals) as though they were. (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4:17 Through speaking faith-filled words, we can call things that are not as though they are. This is not denying reality. I think that this is the BIGGEST stumbling block that people have using faith-filled affirmations or confessions. This is creating a NEW reality through faith-filled words and actions. Just speaking the words will NOT create your new reality. BUT speaking the words is part of the creative process. All human progress has occurred by men and women who looked into the future with their imagination and faith and created new things that never existed until they created it. The same creative process that Edison used to create the light bulb, that Steve Jobs used to create the modern smart phone, that Bill Gates used to create the windows operating system, etc., etc. is the EXACT same process that you can use to achieve your goals by creating a future reality. I believe that it is best to keep your confessions private or only share them with people who believe and who understand what you are doing (even family members). So, don t go running around telling other people your goals or what you are confessing. If you do, the odds are great that the other people will most likely not understand what you are doing and so seeds of unbelief that will delay the achievement of your goal OR will prevent the achievement all together. Your words are important!!! Your words are the reflection of your inner thoughts. out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For

by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 12:34 37 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: And the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. Proverbs 16:21 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24 What man is he that desireth life, And loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, And His ears are open unto their cry. Psalm 34:12 15 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: But the tongue of the wise is health. Proverbs 12:18 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21 I believe that you can also say that Success and failure are in the power of the tongue. If you want to succeed achieve your goals talk success. Prayer Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. Proverbs 21:23 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man s religion is vain. James 1:26 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 1 Peter 3:10 Here is Mark 11:24 again: Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye DESIRE (i.e. your goal), when ye pray, BELIEVE that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:24 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. Matthew 6:6 8

Prayer is different from confession. Prayer (of petition) is asking for God s help. When you ask, you do not need to keep asking. God already knows what you need. Ask in faith belief that you receive what you are asking for. Confessing is speaking faith-filled words. That is speaking to things. Speaking to situations. Speaking the Word of God over your situation. That you can and should do consistently. Let us hold fast the profession (or confession) of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:23 Here is another passage about faith-filled prayer. Believe and you will receive. Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matthew 21:21 22 Napoleon Hill put it this way: Whatever you conceive and believe you will achieve. Here are four great words to think about: Conceive use your imagination. Believe move forward in faith. Go as far as you can see and you will see farther. Act as if Receive This is missing from Napoleon Hill s quote. I believe in treating what I achieve as being a GIFT from God. Achieve this is the final realization of the goal. I believe that you do what you can do and then expect God to do only what God can do. Think about a seed. If you want tomatoes, you plant a tomato seed. You plant the seed in the soil. You provide water and light. You may provide fertilizer to add new nutrients. Those are things that YOU do. But you cannot make the seed grow. That s God s part. When you do your part FIRST, then God will do His part. You don t know how the seed grows, but you know that the seed will grow.

When you pray, mix your prayers with thanksgiving and gratitude. Be as grateful for what you pray for now as when you shall receive it. Being grateful in ADVANCE is an expression of faith. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6 7 Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 18 The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James 5:16 You can magnify the power of your prayers and confession when you join with other people who agree with you even if it is just one other person. Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Matthew 18:18 20 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:7 11 Some Practical Applications 1. Choose to pursue righteousness. Keep your confessions within the guidelines of the Word of God. Again, this process is not a license for greed and selfishness. When you choose to do your best to pursue righteousness, mercy, justice, peace, kindness, and love, you qualify for the blessing of the Lord. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, And he addeth no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22

2. Write out your goals, affirmations, confessions, and prayers. This allows you to analyze and edit your WORDS to be sure that they are in line with the Word and the will of God. Writing allows you to crystalize your thoughts. 3. Speak your words with a feeling of faith. This is how you mix your words with faith. Faith is the power that makes your words come to pass. People have asked me how do you mix your words with faith? The tongue is the mixer. You have to speak the words out loud. Napoleon Hill realized this. Here is what he said in the chapter on Faith in Think and Grow Rich. Repetition of affirmation of orders to your subconscious mind is the only known method of voluntary development of the emotion of faith. 4. Read and LISTEN to the Bible regularly. My personal favorite narrator is Alexander Scourby. I have listened to his recordings for years. My favorite ap for my iphone is his narration along with the text of the Bible. I listen to it regularly on my iphone. You can loop specific playlists, verses, or chapters. What I like about this is that it allows me to meditate on specific passages and makes it easier to memorize the scriptures using the principle of repetition. It s also available for Android, Windows, and Macs. You can get more information at http://www.scourby.com. 5. Choose ALL of your words carefully. Listen carefully to your self-talk and start correcting yourself. If you find yourself speaking lack, failure, doubts, and fears, reverse those negative words and replace them with words inspired by God. Listen, you cannot expect to achieve your goals if you speak your affirmations and confessions of faith a few times per day and then speak words of doubt and fear the rest of the day. That is NOT believing in your heart. That is not believing that you receive. Resolve to make all of your words consistent. You may think thoughts of doubt in the beginning, but keep those thoughts to yourself. Choose not to express those thoughts. Choose not to speak those thoughts.

6. Find a BELIEVER to agree with you in prayer and positive confession. Remember what Jesus said about agreeing with someone else. This has the effect of magnifying your power to achieve your desires. Matthew 18:18 20 I Will Agree with You in Prayer If you would like a BELIEVER to agree with you in prayer in the name of Jesus, I invite you to email me the details of your prayer request, confession, and/or goal. If you need help articulating your affirmation, I will help you. My one condition is that your request must be in harmony with the Word of God. Just email me your information at whmarshall@earthlink.net. All correspondence will be held confidential. Coming Soon Affirmations Inspired by the Bible My next affirmation project is to go through the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs and create affirmations inspired by the Word of God. Eventually I may choose to include other books of the Bible. I plan to organize these affirmations/confessions according to the books and chapters in order to make it easy for you to refer back to the source material. When as these are available, I plan to post them to my download page. It is currently December 31, 2016. I plan to update my download page at least once each month until the affirmations are complete. My current plan is to provide the new affirmations in text form only. I have not yet decided if I will record them. If you have followed my previous work, you know that I am thorough, so it will take time for me to complete this project. If you are interested in getting access to my download page, you can get lifetime access to the page right now for only $17.76. I specifically chose this price in honor of the spirit of 1776 American Independence.

I have also added over 1,000 Power Affirmations in text form inspired by Think and Grow Rich. Freedom and liberty lead to prosperity. Get Lifetime Access to the Power Affirmations Download Page for only $17.76 Includes 488 Power Affirmations Recordings and Other Material The American Constitution does not grant us our rights. It recognizes the freedoms that have been given by God to every human being. One important point about the affirmations that I have written in the past. These affirmations are not specifically inspired by the Bible. Instead, they are inspired by works by authors such as Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Zig Ziglar, and Wallace D. Wattles. However, because I wrote these affirmations as a Christian, I believe that they are in harmony with the Bible. If you would like to receive additional thoughts and ideas about affirmations, confessions, faith that are in harmony with the Bible, I invite you to join my new email list specifically for Christians. Just visit, http://www.poweraffirmations.com/ and enter your name and email address in the email form. With Gratitude, Bill Marshall www.poweraffiramtions.com.
