Grace, Godliness, Glory Titus 2:11-15
Building a community of faith
Titus 2:11-15 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. 15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
1) Grace 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. ~ Titus 2:11
What is Grace? Is God s gratuitous favour in the scheme of redemption
He has saved us and called us to a holy life not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time ~ 2 Timothy 1:9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God ~ Ephesians 2: 8
1) Grace Is needed
For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God ~ Romans 3:23 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ~ Romans 5:8 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 6:23
1) Grace Is needed Is for everyone
For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people ~ Titus 2:1 And they sang a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation ~ Revelations 5:9 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb ~ Revelations 7:9-10
This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. ~ 1 Timothy 2:3-6
2) Godliness It teaches us to say No to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age. ~ Titus 2:12

The antidote to the illness of sin
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 3:12-14
It is worth it.
