For people who are blind and cannot see and for those who can see but are blind to people around them. Spirit, in your mercy, help us touch each other For people who move slowly because of accident, illness or disability, and for those who move too fast to be aware of the world in which they live. Spirit, in your mercy, help us work together. For people who are deaf and cannot hear, and for those who can hear but ignore the cries of others Spirit, in your mercy, help us respond to each other. For people who learn slowly, for people who learn in different ways, and for people who learn quickly and easily but often choose ignorance. Spirit, in your mercy, help us grow in your wisdom. For people who have chronic illnesses for which there is no known cure or relief, and for people who live in unholy fear of developing chronic illness Spirit, in your mercy, help us and heal us. The Cross First Baptist Church has joined many others in our county and around the country in a silent testimony to our faith. The Cross displayed in the front yard or at a prominent visible place on your private property will remind passersby that because of God s love, Jesus died on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins. The plain wooden cross in your front yard will tell the world that you are a believer and you want to be a testimony for the Lord. The mission team has prepared a supply of crosses that will be in the back foyer Sunday morning. You are encouraged to take one and display it in your yard. If you have a non-member friend who would like a cross, they are welcome to one of our crosses. I really enjoyed it and I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Thanks again! Sincerely, Avis Jones PROPOSED CHANGE TO BY-LAWS By majority vote at the April 23, 2014 regularly scheduled meeting, business sessions will now be held on a monthly basis. This will be an opportunity to inform the church body of leadership/committee issues and to conduct time-sensitive business. Meetings are scheduled the third Wednesday at 6:30 pm of each month. The moderator rules the above action out of order, and thus void on the basis of By-Laws Article XIV General, Section 4, under (Notification of Meetings and Business), which reads as follows: The Church shall be notified at least one week in advance of the presentation at church business meetings of matters necessitating expenditure of funds not presented in the church budget, or matters concerning the purchase or sale of church property, or matters which constitute modification of church policy. The pastor hereby calls a Special Business Meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 6:30 pm for the specific purpose of changing Article III. Meetings, Section 2. Business Meetings, which currently reads The church shall hold a regular business meeting each quarter. Thus the change shall read, The church shall hold a regular business meeting monthly. {Two-thirds majority required}
