UNION MEETING MINUTES Tuesday March 17, 2015 General Membership Meeting ILUW Hall San Francisco, CA James Mansfield, President Mike Ratusz, Vice-President Dan Nicholson, Business Agent Janice Baker-Kinney, Recording Secretary Matt Johnson, Treasurer Don Amundson, Sergeant-at-Arms AGENDA: -Baseball -Program Production -Business agent -Open Discussion Meeting called to order at 11:25 am by Dan Nicholson 11:25am: Dan discusses that a fellow member passed away. A $500 check was sent to the husband of Shorty Hackamack in her memory. We received a nice thank you card from her husband. Also, Sacramento member Stephen Moriano has been hospitalized with chest pains and is recovering. 11:28: Janice Baker-Kinney reads minutes from last meeting. Accepted and passed by members. 11:30: Matt Johnson reads treasurer s report. Audit will be done beginning of June. Accepted by members and passed. James: training fund used for new equipment in partnership with MIRA. Don Watt: need training on new EVS Dyno for ALL EVS operators. He is concerned and requests we schedule more training days. Grass Valley might be able to train locally at their facility in SF. 11:36 BASEBALL James: has A s credentials and will mail out when he receives Giants stickers that will be placed on last year s credentials. UNION MEETING MINUTES Sludge bucket next to visiting TV truck by recycle was addressed. A complete walk-thru with NBC and CSN on safety issues was done. A scrim was purchased for visiting booth at A s and Dave Rinetti of A s will have it installed. Port-a-potties will be delivered on April 1 to both venues and will be cleaned twice a week per Dan. James will send out MLB dress code for this year. Marc Kennedy brought up that he knows of an OSHA approved safety training program if needed. 11:56 Program Production James re-visits Bob Carzolli and Program Production. Sammco works for us and we are not a fan of getting an outside crewer involved with our group. James will respectfully decline Bob s offer after letting him know we discussed this as a group one more time. Dan Berger: speaking of outside crewers, what s up with Pac-12? Mike Ratusz: nothing has changed. Only way to get Pac-12 to work with us may be to allow the people they currently hire to continue to work with them but sign the cards. People working for Pac-12 do NOT want to sign union cards John Ward: we ve offered this but Pac-12 just doesn t want to work with us. Dan N: still just try to collect cards Lots of Pac-12 talk. Lots of opinions. No resolutions. 12:25pm Business Agent Board is 100% agreed to hire a BA We need to bump dues up by 1.75-2% and discuss this during 3 consecutive meetings in which there is a quorum. Dan is currently our Business Representative. Need a Business Agent Our dues are currently 1.75% and they will need to be raised to be able to pay a living wage to a BA Wage should be at least $80,000 plus benefits. 12:32pm James officially reads the proposal to our quorum from the By-Laws increasing the dues by 2% Further discussion tabled until after FX Crowley speaks. 12:37pm FX Crowley Discussed prevailing wage by city/county. Jurisdiction could be an issue but we want to have no conflicts with other locals. FX will meet with Supervisor Scott Weiner, SF City Attorney and representatives from all Locals to discuss prevailing wages and jurisdiction conflicts for SF owned and leased property. James: yes but dues are low. hopefully will raise 1.75%, not 2% Sam J.: dues seem to be going up a lot lately James: that is international, NOT local dues.
