This time f preparatin can change nt nly yur child s life frever but yur entire family! Please pray abut hw Gd wants yu t grw thrugh this time, and make every effrt t place this preparatin prcess at the tp f the list fr yur family. If yu d, we prmise that Gd has great things in stre fr yu! Take a mment t think f yur life, its busyness, schedules, running arund. What we spend ur time ding shws us where ur heart is and what we value. In a special way this year, yu will be asked t dedicate maybe mre time than yu are use t, t prayer and frming yur child in the faith. We will be asking yu t prayerfully cnsider if yu are able t cmpletely dive int this prcess, and if yu are willing t nt just give time thrugh frmatin, attending Mass every Sunday and Recnciliatin at least 1x a year this specific year, but fr the rest f the time yur child is in yur care. Yu will even be asked t sign a written prmise (fund in this packet). This is a big decisin, and ne that shuld nt be taken lightly. If yu are willing t pur yur time, effrt and prayers int this prcess we prmise the rewards in this life and in the next will be beynd yur wildest dreams! Gd lves yu and has an incredible plan fr yu and yur family! Please take time t review each page fund in this packet, and feel free t cntact any f us with questins. Sacramental Preparatin Requirements 2012/13 Belw are the requirements fr St. Jerme s sacramental preparatin prgram. Fr many f us ur lives are full f running back and frth with sprts, schl, errands, wrk, hbbies and mre, making it feel like we cannt pssibly fit ne mre thing in. The Lrd knws f ur busyness yet in Luke 10:25-28 he is asked hw we can inherit eternal life, and he answers yu shall lve the Lrd, yur Gd, with all yur heart, with all yur being, with all yur strength, and with all yur mind. The requirements belw are nt meant t be hps t jump thrugh fr yur kids t receive the sacraments, but rather they are meant t prepare yur family and t strengthen yur faith and lve fr Christ and His Church nt just this year, but fr the rest f yur lives. Attend Sunday Mass every week Attending Mass every week has always been an imprtant teaching f the Cathlic Church. This teaching is s imprtant that it is an actual Mrtal Sin if yu purpsefully miss Sunday Mass, and therefre yu need t g t Cnfessin befre receiving the Eucharist again. This teaching is meant t help us live mre dedicated lives t Christ. Many times we are s willing t have multiple practices and games every week fr sprts. We realize that the cmmitment is what makes us better at the sprt, but then we cmplain abut giving up just 1 hur fr Gd and attending Mass. The Church is wise, just like a cach, knwing that withut having it be mandatry we are less likely t g. By putting in just 1 hur f ur week, we receive s much mre than we culd hpe fr. We receive grace t make it thrugh anther week, and encuragement and grwth thrugh the readings, sngs, hmily, Eucharist, cmmunity and mre! When yu cntinue in a sprt, yu begin t desire t practice and g t games and becme better. Even mre will yur lve and desire t g t Mass grw as yu cntinue ging and puring yurself int the Mass. Yu must believe that the Cathlic Church and the Eucharist are imprtant if yu are here having yur child prepare fr the sacraments. We ask yu t shw this imprtance t yur child, and make sure t attend Mass every Sunday! Attend all meetings/dates listed Please refer t the Sacramental Preparatin Dates page fr listed dates. Signed Sacramental Preparatin Parent/ Guardian Cmmitment Frms These pages can be fund in this packet fr yu t review befre signing. We will review them at ur first meeting Sat. Nvember 10 th. This cmmitment is nt smething that we have made up, but rather a cmpilatin frm Church dcuments and dicesan requirements fr a child t receive the Sacraments. Parents agree t these things by the act f having their child receive the sacraments, but we want yu t visually see what yu are cmmitting t and make it cncrete. Yu will have a chance t sign these dcuments at specific preparatin meetings. Cntinued n back

Weekly Examinatin f Cnscience Part f preparing fr the Sacrament f Recnciliatin is reading thrugh the Children s Examinatin f Cnscience 1x a week in Schl r RED class, as well as 1x a week at hme as a family. It is a great habit fr everyne t examine hw they did and did nt serve Gd at the end f each day. We hpe that this exercise will help develp this habit within yur family, but als that it will help the child t learn what sins t cnfess t the priest. This activity culd have a great impact n yur family, giving yu the pprtunity t talk abut areas yu are struggling, a time t aplgize t ne anther and t help each ther grw in hliness. (The Children s Examinatin f Cnscience can be fund in this packet as well as a Hw t g t Cnfessin page and a list f lcal Cnfessin times. These examinatins are t begin at the Nv. 10 th meeting and asked t be cntinued thrugh t the January 16 th meeting. Meaningful Mass sheets filled ut and returned Part f the requirement t attend Sunday Mass weekly will be filling ut Meaningful Mass Sheets. These sheets help families and children t get the mst ut f Sunday Mass. The first f these sheets is lcated in this packet as an example. The rest will be given at the Nvember meeting. These will be due at the Wed. January 16 th meeting. Assignments cmpleted and turned in frm the Little Catechism f the Eucharist by Fr. Rbert Cggi In Preparatin fr the Sacrament f First Eucharist we will be using the bk Little Catechism f the Eucharist which yu will be given t keep. There will be 5 shrt assignments frm this bk that yu will d tgether with yur child t learn mre abut the Eucharist and turn in at the Wed. April 24 th meeting. These questins will be given t yu at the First Eucharist meeting March 6 th.
