Scripture Readings OUR LORD SPEAKS TO US The First Lesson: Numbers 27:15-23 16 M : Moses said to e LORD, May e LORD, e God of e spirits of all mankind, appoint a 17 man over is community to go out and come in before em, one who will lead em out and bring em in, so e LORD s people will not be like sheep wiout a shepherd. 18 So e LORD said to Moses, Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is e spirit, and 19 lay your hand on him. Have him stand before Eleazar e priest and e entire assembly and 20 commission him in eir presence. Give him some of your auority so e whole Israelite 21 community will obey him. He is to stand before Eleazar e priest, who will obtain decisions for him by inquiring of e Urim before e LORD. At his command he and e entire 22 community of e Israelites will go out, and at his command ey will come in. Moses did as e LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar e priest and 23 e whole assembly. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as e LORD instructed rough Moses. This is e Word of our Lord. All: Alleluia! May your priests be cloed wi righteousness; may your saints sing for joy. Alleluia! (Psalm 132:9) The Gospel: Matew 9:35-10:8 Worshipers stand. W [sing]: Glory be to you, O Lord! M : Jesus went rough all e towns and villages, teaching in eir synagogues, preaching e good 36 news of e kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw e crowds, he had compassion on em, because ey were harassed and helpless, like sheep wiout a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful but e workers are few. Lord of e harvest, erefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 37 38 Ask e 10:1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave em auority to drive out evil spirits 2 and to heal every disease and sickness. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered dea and was buried. On e ird day he rose again in accordance wi e Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at e right hand of e Faer. He will come again in glory to judge e living and e dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in e Holy Spirit, e Lord, e giver of life, who proceeds from e Faer and e Son, who in unity wi e Faer and e Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken rough e prophets.
