Welcome Welcome to First United Methodist Church; we are delighted that you have chosen to worship with us this morning. Founded in 1821, First Church is the oldest Protestant church in the area and the oldest Methodist church in Florida. This historic church, with four Sunday services, has a membership of 3200 and is overflowing with life. We hope that you will consider becoming a member of our church family. Flowers The flowers in the Sanctuary are given to the glory of God and in celebration of Jane and Ken Weekley s 60th wedding anniversary on February 26th by their grandchildren, Jennifer Dannelly, Sarah Paulk, Valerie Westmark and James Westmark. Visitor/New Member Class We welcome all visitors and new members that are interested in learning more about First Church to an introductory class that consists of four parts. The class will assemble at 9:30am in room PH101 next door in the Perry Home. Today s class, Tour of First Church will walk you through the historic buildings of our campus. On March 1st, Introduction to First Church will give you an opportunity to ask questions and learn about the history, theology, worship, and membership of this great church. On March 8th, Ministries of First Church is about all the programs and ministries of the church. We hope you join us each week. Announcements Wednesday Night Activities Join us from 5:00-6:00pm in The Wright Place for a time of food and fellowship. During Lent, the menus for Wednesday Night Dinners will follow the guidelines of The Daniel Plan. Menus will include more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains while limiting white breads and sweets. This week s menu is Herb Pork Loin, Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Broccoli and Salad. You may make your reservations in the registration pads, by calling the church office (432-1434), or online. Please make your reservations by 1:00pm on Tuesday. After dinner, join us for our Lenten Service beginning at 6:00pm in the Main Sanctuary. We hope that you join us on Wednesday night! Wednesday Night Lenten Service This week s Wednesday Night Lenten Service is John Wesley s Service for Evening Prayer. Based from our Anglican roots, this service of prayer and singing follows the order of evening worship that John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, gave to the Methodist church in 1783. Join us for this special service at 6:00pm in the Main Sanctuary. Bring a Friend to Church in Lent! This Lent everyone is encouraged to invite their friends and neighbors to join them in worship at First Church. Special hospitality booths will be set up outside the Main Sanctuary to welcome visitors and name tags will be available to help us all get to know each other better! Also, be sure to pick up additional SEASONS 2015 Winter/Spring Guides. This is a great resource to give to your co-workers, friends, family and neighbors as you invite them to become a part of the First Church family. Church Council Meeting February 23rd Our Church Council will meet this Monday, February 23rd, at 6:00pm in Wesley Abbey. Members of the Church Council are expected to attend, but the meeting is open to all members of our congregation. 50 Forward: Silver and Gold February 26th At this month s Silver and Gold, on Thursday, February 26th, we will be hosting the Washington High School Drama Team under the direction of Ms Barbie Spears! You won t want to miss the energy and talent of the students as they perform scenes from Nunsense. They won superior at District Festival! Artist of the Month Our new Artist of the Month is Frank Brueske, an award wining photographer from Pace. His latest solo exhibit, Pensacola s Krewe of Lafitte Illuminated Mardi Gras Parade, features more than 30 prints, all color, taken at Pensacola s Illuminated Parade in 2014. The exhibit will be held in the Art Space at The Wright Place through March 16th. Featured art from the Artist of the Month can be viewed on Sunday mornings, Monday Thursday from 8:30am 4:30pm, Friday from 8:30am noon, or by special appointment. Stop by and check out these great prints. Great Day of Service Yesterday, our church gathered to worship and serve in a number of work projects in the community.
