THE PENTATEUCH BACK TO THE BEGINNING Lesson 1: God the Creator Treasure Point: God is the creator of all things. Lesson 2: God is Good Treasure Point: All of creation is very good, but God is even better. Lesson 3: God is Wise Treasure Point: We can trust God with everything because He alone is wise and knows what is good and what is bad. He knows what is best for us. Lesson 4: God s Creative Purpose Treasure Story: Genesis 1:1-2:15 Treasure Point: God created us to glorify Him through worship and obedience. Lesson 5: God s Image: Man Treasure Story: Genesis 1:15 2:25 Treasure Point: We were created in the image of God to worship Him and to rule His creation. Lesson 6: Man s Foolish Rebellion Treasure Story: Genesis 3:1-24 Treasure Point: Even though man s greatest good is found in God, man sadly chose to seek his highest good in himself. Lesson 7: Judgment and Mercy Treasure Story: Genesis 3:1-24 Treasure Point: Man s sin brought ruin and exile from the Garden of Eden. But God promised a descendant of Eve who would be the Deliverer. Lesson 10: God s Covenant with Noah Treasure Story: Genesis 8:20-9:17 Treasure Point: God makes a covenant with Noah to never again destroy the earth with a flood. Lesson 11: Noah s Tragic Fall Treasure Story: Genesis 9:18-29 Treasure Point: Even though God decided to start over with Noah, Noah s sin proves he is not the promised Deliverer.

Lesson 12: A Story of Three Sons Treasure Story: Genesis 9:25-29, 10:32 Treasure Point: God blesses one of Noah s sons and makes him the ancestor of the promised Deliverer. ABRAHAM, ISAAC, JACOB: Keys to God s Blessing Lesson 1: God Calls Abraham Treasure Story: Genesis 11:27-12:9, 13:1-4 Treasure Point: God wanted to bless all nations and called out Abraham to accomplish this through his offspring. Lesson 2: God s Covenant with Abraham Treasure Story: Genesis 15:1-21 Treasure Point: God is faithful to keep His promises and credits us with His righteousness when we trust Him. Lesson 3: Threats to the Promise Treasure Story: Genesis 16:1-16 Treasure Point: We should trust God to keep His promises, even if we have to wait. Lesson 4: The Story of Lot Treasure Story: Genesis 18:1-19:29 Treasure Point: God punishes sin and protects the righteous. Lesson 5: The Story of Isaac and Ishmael Treasure Story: Genesis 21:1-21 Treasure Point: God is always faithful to His promises. Lesson 6: God Tests Abraham Treasure Story: Genesis 22:1-19 Treasure Point: Abraham trusted God to carry him through difficult situations. Lesson 7: The Story of Isaac Treasure Story: Genesis 24:1-64 Treasure Point: Abraham s servant trusted God to lead him. Lesson 8: The Story of Jacob and Esau Treasure Story: Genesis 25:19-34, 27:1-41 Treasure Point: God is sovereign over every detail and ordains all things according to His purpose. Lesson 9: God Reassures Jacob Treasure Story: Genesis 35:1-15 Treasure Point: God blesses us when we follow His direction. Lesson 10: God Tests Joseph Treasure Story: Genesis 37:1-36, 39:1-40:23 Treasure Point: Just as God protected Joseph, He protects us through difficult times. Lesson 11: Joseph s Rise to Power Treasure Story: Genesis 41:1-47:31 Treasure Point: Joseph was faithful, and God used him to bless his family. 2

Lesson 12: Jacob s Blessing Treasure Story: Genesis 49:1-33 Treasure Point: God chose Judah to carry on His blessing. Lesson 13: Faith in the Future Blessing Treasure Story: Genesis 50:22-26; Hebrews 11:22, 39-40 Treasure Point: Joseph trusts God to keep His promise to bring a blessing. THE LAW OF THE PROMISE Lesson 1: Pharaoh Oppresses Israel Treasure Story: Exodus 1:1-40:38 Treasure Point: God protected the Israelites from Pharaoh. Lesson 2: God Remembers Israel Treasure Story: Exodus 2:1-25 Treasure Point: God saved Moses and prepared him to deliver Israel. Lesson 3: God Calls Moses Treasure Story: Exodus 3:1-4:17 Treasure Point: God prepared Moses to deliver his people. Lesson 4: The Lord Versus Pharaoh Treasure Story: Exodus 5:1-6:8 Treasure Point: God is faithful even during difficult times. Lesson 5: The Plagues Against Egypt Treasure Story: Exodus 8:16-9:17 Treasure Point: God made His power and His name known throughout the whole world. Lesson 6: The Last Plague and the Passover Treasure Story: Exodus 12:29-51 Treasure Point: God redeemed Israel from slavery through the Passover. God redeems us through Christ. Lesson 7: The Parting of the Red Sea Treasure Story: Exodus 14:1-15:21 Treasure Point: God saved Israel through the parting of the Red Sea. He also saves us through Jesus. Lesson 8: God s Provision in the Wilderness Treasure Story: Exodus 15:22-16:20 Treasure Point: God provides for our daily needs. Lesson 9: The Covenant at Sinai Treasure Story: Exodus 19:1-20:17 Treasure Point: God established His covenant with the Israelites. If they would obey Him, they would be His treasured possession. Lesson 10: The Tabernacle Treasure Story: Exodus 25 Treasure Point: God gave the Israelites specific instructions to build the tabernacle. He wanted to have a place where they could worship Him and where He could dwell with them. 3

Lesson 11: The Golden Calf Treasure Story: Exodus 32 Treasure Point: God commands us not to worship idols. An idol is anything that we seek or desire greater than God. Lesson 12: God Forgives Israel Treasure Story: Exodus 33-34 Treasure Point: God reveals His character to us through the work of salvation. Lesson 13: Salvation in Exodus Treasure Story: Exodus Treasure Point: Moses was a great mediator, but Jesus is even greater! THE PEOPLE OF GOD Lesson 1: Atonement for Sin Treasure Story: Leviticus 16 Treasure Point: God provided atonement for the Israelites through sacrifices. He offers permanent atonement for our sin through the blood of Jesus. Lesson 2: The Holiness of God Treasure Story: Leviticus 20:26; 1 Peter 1:13-16 Treasure Point: God is holy and desires for us to be holy. He has provided a way through Jesus who atones for our sins and sanctifies us through His death, burial and resurrection. Lesson 3: The People Complain Treasure Story: Numbers 11 Treasure Point: God placed His Spirit on a select group of men to help Moses. Today God makes the Holy Spirit available to all who trust in Jesus. Lesson 4: The Perfect Prophet Treasure Story: Numbers 12 Treasure Point: God set Moses apart to lead the Israelites. Yet Jesus was even greater than Moses. He was a prophet and the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Lesson 5: Spying Out the Land Treasure Story: Numbers 13-14 Treasure Point: Joshua and Caleb trusted in God. In the same way, God desires for us to trust in Him and in His Son Jesus. Lesson 6: Moses Unbelief Treasure Story: Numbers 20:2-12 Treasure Point: God gave Moses the Law, but Moses could not completely obey it. He was still a sinner like us. Only Jesus always obeyed God. Lesson 7: The Bronze Serpent Treasure Story: Numbers 21:4-9 Treasure Point: Just as the children of Israel were healed by looking to a serpent on a pole, we are healed by looking to Christ and His work on the cross. Lesson 8: God s Promised Deliverer Treasure Story: Numbers 22 & 24:1-19 Treasure Point: God is sovereign, and He brings about His will through whomever He chooses to use. God even used the unbelieving prophet Balaam to bring blessing on His people. 4

Lesson 9: Fear and Love Treasure Story: Deuteronomy 6 Treasure Point: True obedience to God requires both fear and love. Trusting Jesus is the only way for us to fully walk in obedience to the Father. Lesson 10: A Prophet Like Moses Treasure Story: Deuteronomy 18:15-22, 34:10 Treasure Point: God promised to one day send a prophet greater than Moses. That promise was fulfilled in the person of Jesus who came to free us from slavery to sin. Lesson 11: A New Heart Treasure Story: Deuteronomy 30:1-19 Treasure Point: The Israelites remind us that we are incapable of obeying God and loving Him as we should. God, therefore, promises to give us a new heart capable of doing what He desires of us. Lesson 12: The Song of Moses Treasure Story: Deuteronomy 32 Treasure Point: Moses used a song to praise God and to tell the Israelites that they would disobey God even though He provided for them. Only Jesus could change their hearts and save the nations. Lesson 13: The Pentateuch Treasure Story: Genesis Deuteronomy Treasure Point: Despite their repeated failures, God continued to lead and protect the Israelites. He also revealed to them and to us His plan to redeem all mankind through the promised offspring. 5
