Biblical Reasons Why Developing the Love Walk Is Necessary: PART #1 Text: 1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matt 24:1-14 (NKJV) Introduction: Any believer that is walking in the light of the Word of God today can see and understand that we are indeed living in the time of sorrows Jesus spoke about in our text in v. 8. These signs of the times Jesus talked about are happening all around us. We can most definitely see the wars, famines, pestilences, and earthquakes. But our Lord also gives the church some information that we need to give heed to as well. He told us that because of the iniquity and lawlessness that will abound, the love of many will grow cold. Indeed the enemy of our souls knows the power and blessings of walking in the love of God, and so is doing everything in his power to cause God s love in us to grow cold. So in the next two Sunday s we will look at the Biblical perspective of why it is necessary to develop the love walk. I. LOVE OF MANY WILL GROW COLD: Wax that is warmed is melted and pliable. On the other hand, wax that is growing cold will solidify and harden. Our Father God does not want our hearts to become hardened and therefore insensitive to the Spirit of God. But you and I desire to be even more sensitive to the workings of the Spirit of God not less.

II. Biblical Reason Number One: A. THE LOVE WALK IS THE COMMANDMENT OF THE NEW COVENANT: 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another." John 13:34-35 (NKJV) 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. 11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts. Romans 13:8-14 (NKJV) 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 Because finding fault with them, He says: "Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah-- 9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord. 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Heb 8:7-10 (NKJV) 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more." 13 In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Heb 8:12-13 (NKJV) B. GOD S LOVE HAS BEEN SHED ABROAD IN OUR HEARTS: 1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:1-5 (NKJV)

III. Biblical Reason Number Two: A. WALKING IN LOVE WILL CAUSE US TO INHERITE A BLESSING: 8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:8-9 (NKJV) NOW NOTICE VS. 10-12! 10 For "He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." 1 Peter 3:10-12 (NKJV) B. THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM BECOMES REAL TO US WHEN WE WALK IN GOD S LOVE: 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them." 11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but "the man who does them shall live by them." 13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree" ), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Gal 3:10-14 (NKJV) THE CURSE OF THE BROKEN LAW WAS: 1) POVERTY 2) SICKNESS 3) SPIRITUAL DEATH

Biblical Reasons Why Developing the Love Walk Is Necessary: PART #2 IV. Biblical Reason Number Three: A. WALKING IN LOVE WILL CLOSE THE DOOR TO THE DEVIL: 25 Therefore, putting away lying, "Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor," for we are members of one another. 26 "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil. 28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. 29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. Eph 4:25-32 (NKJV) V. Biblical Reason Number Four: A. WALKING IN LOVE WILL KEEP US FROM YEILDING TO A WRONG SPIRIT: B. TELL CHURCH WHAT THE LORD TAUGHT ME ABOUT THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT: 1 Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, 1 Cor 14:1 (NKJV) 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 1 John 2:10 (NKJV) C. The Lord told me in prayer that, Every act outside of what love would do is yielding to a wrong spirit. April 1981 in Anguilla Mississippi.

VI. Biblical Reason Number Five: A. WALKING IN LOVE WILL HELP US TO HEAR THE VOICE OF GOD BETTER: 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, Romans 8:12-16 (NKJV) 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you. John 16:13-15 (NKJV) VII. Biblical Reason Number Six: A. WALKING IN LOVE WILL CAUSE OUR FAITH AND PRAYERS TO WORK: 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. Gal 5:6 (NKJV) 22 So Jesus answered and said to them, "Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. 25 "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses." Mark 11:22-26 (NKJV) CONCLUSION: We have given you six Biblical reasons why we should develop the love walk. Now all we must do is say, Lord, help me to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only. Let us purpose in our hearts that in the days ahead we are going to walk in the love of God as the supreme desire and goal of our lives. I know that our Father God will help us for this is the will of God.
