2 DELHI & NEW DELHI Delhi sometimes referred to as Dilli, is the second-largest metropolis in India, after Mumbai, with a population of 11.5 million, and with an extended metropolitan population of almost 22 million. Delhi has the political status of a federally-administered union territory known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT), which in itself is part of National Capital Region. A constitutional amendment in 1991 gave Delhi a special status among the Union Territories. Delhi is one of the oldest continually inhabited cities in the world. Having been the capital of several empires in ancient India, Delhi was a major city in the old trade routes from northwest India to the Gangetic Plains. Many ancient monuments, archaeological sites and remains of national importance have been erected in its history. The Mughals built a section of the city (now known as Old City or Old Delhi) that served as the capital of Mughal Empire for a long period. During the British Raj, New Delhi was built as an administrative quarter of the city. New Delhi was declared the capital of India after India gained independence from British rule in 1947. As the seat of the Government of India, New Delhi houses important offices of the federal government, including the Parliament of India, making Delhi a powerhouse of Indian politics.

3 TOUR (Tour will start and end at one hotel as pre decided) Morning proceed for full-day combined sightseeing tour of Old & New Delhi (Red Fort Closed on Mondays) Tour starts with visit to Old Delhi - Old Delhi is a world all in its own. As you meander through the bustling galis (streets) of this Mughal nerve-centre of old, is difficult to imagine that way back in 1648, Emperor Shah Jahan s daughter Jahanara built up the area only to pander to her father s fetish for grandiose processions, Here you will see the Jama Masjid, built in 1650 AD, and one of the largest mosques in India. Drive through the fabled Chandni Chowk (literally, 'Silver Street'), once the most opulent perfume market of India, but now a bustling market, good for hunting down old and new silver and gold from jewellers whose forefathers served the emperors. Tour the Red Fort (closed on Mondays), dating back as far as 1639-48 AD, and built by Emperor Shah Jahan, who also built the Taj Mahal. Visit Raj Ghat where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated following his assassination in 1948. After the tour proceed for Lunch at local specialty Indian restaurant. Post Lunch continue tour of the New Delhi - New Delhi was planned and built by the British in the 1920s and is characterized by Sir Edwin Lutyen's monumental architecture. You will visit Humayun's Tomb, aptly called the predecessor of the Taj Mahal because of its ornate Mughal style of architecture, later perfected in the Taj Mahal.. Continue drive to 12th century Qutab Minar, considered one of the most perfect towers in the world, measuring 72 meters high. Nearby, amidst the ruins of the Quwwat ul Islam Mosque stands the iron pillar, which is over 1500 years old and seemingly immune to rust. Drive through the city viewing the government buildings, President's House and Parliament House. Visit India Gate

4 and the sikh Temple - Gurdwara Bangla Sahib - is an important historical and religious place in India. Dedicated to the eighth Sikh Guru, Sri Harkishen Sahib. Its main hall is kept simple, except for the open central shrine, covered by a small golden dome sporting a sculpted bronze cupola. Devotional music is relayed throughout the complex continuously. Holy water of Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, known as 'Amrit, is said to have miraculous powers of curing the sick.. End of the Tour

1 AGRA EXCURSIONS EX DELHI DELHI/ AGRA/ Delhi Same day Excursion. SAME DAY EXCURSION TO AGRA 0800hrs: After buffet breakfast leave for Agra by surface (204 kms/05 hrs App). Tradition ascribes the foundation of the present city of Agra, situated on the banks of Yamuna river, to Raja Badal Singh around 1475 A.D. However the mention of Agraban in the Mahabharata suggests that it has been the sister Of Mathura, an ancient city in the vicinity, from a very early period. Agra came into limelight in the 16th century during the rule of Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi, and rose to greater heights under the successive Mughal rulers as their capital. In modern times, the city of Agra is a thriving carpet industry where you can also find leather workers; sandstone and marble sculptors, some of whom claim to be direct descendants of the craftsmen who had helped build the Taj Mahal. To the lover of art and to the traveler seeking the wonders of India, Agra is the goal of a pilgrimage, its shrines being the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Upon arrival in Agra proceed for sightseeing including visit to Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. Taj Mahal: Taj Mahal stands on the banks of River Yamuna. It was built by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1631 in memory of his second wife, Mumtaz Mahal, a Muslim Persian princess. Construction began in 1631 and was completed in 22 years. Twenty thousand people were deployed to work on it. The material was brought in from all over India and central Asia and it took a fleet of 1000 elephants to transport it to the site. It was designed by the Iranian architect Ustad Isa and is best appreciated when the architecture and its adornments are linked to the passion that inspired it. It is a "symbol of eternal love".

2 TAJ REMAINS CLOSED FOR PUBLIC ON FRIDAYS Agra Fort : It represents the first major building project of Akbar, though remains of only a few buildings built by him now survive. Many extant buildings were erected by Shah Jahan (AD 1630-55). 2 Half day shopping tour followed by Rickshaw Ride in Old Delhi Old Delhi is a world all in its own. As you meander through the bustling galis (streets) of this Mughal nerve-centre of old, is difficult to imagine that way back in 1648, Emperor Shah Jahan s daughter Jahanara built up the area only to pander to her father s fetish for grandiose processions. Time was when an offshoot from the mighty Yamuna flowed in here, gathered up into a big pool that shimmered invitingly on moonlit nights, giving the place its first and last name Chandni Chowk. The best way to see Old Delhi is on Rickshaw, unless you can walk. Go into the heart of Chandni Chowk passing through Dariba where Delhi s traditional jewelers sit proudly on floor cushions in their deceptively nondescript kiosks that are in fact worth more than a million dollars! For more jewellery shops there is Kinari Bazaar, where India s old rich still buy their wedding trousseau glittering sherwanis and safas to lehengas and shararas the zari and zardozi work-manship is some of the finest in the country.
