You have to be careful you never know who is sitting at the table with you (there were 12 different personalities at the table with Jesus) It takes preparation and expectation to go to the table. Jesus went to the table as a guest and then became the host. We go into God's house as guests but we should grow and become hosts in the house of God. Lessons learned at the table are ones of Hope, Joy, Happiness, Peace and Understanding. 102nd Session Ohio Annual Conference June 7, 2017 First A.M.E. Zion Church 873 Bryden Rd., Columbus, OH 43205 7:30 Breakfast 9:10 AM - Song "This is The Day" Presentation by Rev. Leslie Barnett Davis, Pastor, Patterson-Asbury A.M.E. Zion Church, Baltimore, MD Title - Focused to Become Fruitful Rev. Davis shared her story about how God gave her the roadmap to take you out of the land of familiar. Her church was without a roof for 20 months and the membership declined. She had to ask her church 3 questions 1. Why are we dying? 2. What are we going to do? 3. When are we going to do it? You have to be Engaged in worship Equipped by the Word Empowered for Kingdom Work In order for church to grow you have to follow Jesus' mandate in Matthew 28:19-20 to Go, Teach, Baptize and Make Disciples Go outside and tell others to Come and See - John 1:39, 4:42 In her presentation, Rev. Barnett shared the 5 Practices of Fruitful Congregations 1. Radical Hospitality 2. Passionate Worship 3. Intentional Faith Development 4. Risk Taking Mission and Service 5. Extravagant Generosity 3

Bishop W. Darin Moore extended time for Questions: Q. Did you change your hours of worship? A. They worshiped at 9AM when they had to go somewhere else and they liked it. Q. How did you advance your "Street Cred"? A. By getting out in the streets Q. Are you able to travel to help local churches with your presentation? A. Rev. Barnett's willingness to preach is great, but if forced to go she would go because she loves to teach. Bishop W. Darin Moore commented: -Every one of us has people in our churches who have skill sets in their job that aren't being recognized and used in our church. You have to utilize their gifts in the church. -Consider how you treat guests in your church, you can't expect them to act like church folk. Let the person who invited them introduce them. -Too many in church leadership are lazy - trying something different takes work. -Work as a team, be creative and try something new. Young people today are visual. Find ways to be more visual in your service, it enhances what is written. -Regarding Rev. Barnett traveling to our churches, we have the ability to purchase CD's and DVD's and take them back to our churches to share in bible study and other settings. Bishop W. Darin Moore thanked Rev. Barnett for her presentation. She will present tomorrow morning with handouts. 4

2:30 PM - Devotions Song - Oh, Magnify The Lord Prayer - Dr. Tyler Hymn #226 - Blessed Assurance Introduction of Bishop Moore by Presiding Elder Simon Hymn - I am Thine O Lord Episcopal Address Rt. Reverend W. Darin Moore (See Report) Bishop Moore acknowledged that on Friday, June 9th he and Mrs. Devieta Moore will be celebrating 33 years of marriage. Bishop Moore thanked Ohio for being an amazing assembly of clergy and laity. He came to Ohio unaware of most of the people and he is impressed by their way of doing work with grace, dignity and responsibility. Ohio has a wonderful spirit. God is sending renewal because of your faithfulness. It speaks to your love of God and the Church. In June 1979 Bishop Moore was 19 years old and a traveling minister under Bishop Shaw. 6 months later Bishop Shaw went home to be with the Lord. The title and scripture of Bishop Shaw's Episcopal Address then will be used today: Title: Take Another Look Scripture: I Kings 18:43 NLT There's a big difference between eyesight and vision. You can have excellent eyesight and poor vision. Vision requires faith to be used to see beyond the natural eyesight. It takes faith and the power of the Holy Spirit. Our Theme is Refocusing on our Purpose and will be used at all levels of the church. 12

Take Another Look At: 1. Our Culture - "It's All About Me" We used to need each other to survive, now we are slipping into idolatry thinking God is limited to our cell phones. We are disconnected as a community of faith. "Trumpism" is a spirit, just like Pharoah, Herod and Cesar were spirits. Don't focus on the person so much that you ignore the spirit that keeps coming. 2. Our Church - We must confront the issues and reclaim our voice (don't suffer from prophetic laryngitis). Every church won't be a large church, but every church should be a healthy church. We must have passionate, authentic worship. When we are passionate, we are not loud, but enthusiastic. We plan and evaluate. We are intentional in God getting the glory. The Word is rooted in scripture with practical application. Jesus Christ is Lord. We must have a serious systematic study of scripture - Deepen priority of bible teaching and preaching. Have and Outward focus - turn our gaze on the outside and do what we do with enthusiasm. 3. Our Calling - Pastors, churches don't need you to retire before you retire. Churches want energetic and engaged pastors. Laity, change takes risk but it is risky not to change. When you become comfortable you are sliding into decline. Don't become lazy and uncomfortable - try something different. This is a team effort - partner with your pastor. Don t' let folk that don't come to church try to tell you how to run the church. Create a dynamic environment with a healthy congregation no matter what the size. Look at our Culture, Our Church, Our Calling. Look at Jesus! Presiding Elder Posey moved to receive this prophetic, stirring, full of wisdom, experienced, Episcopal Address by the 99th Bishop in Succession, Second by Presiding Elder Tyler. Un-readiness - Presiding Tyler spoke on behalf of the Akron District and Ohio Conference by saying, this is another Call to Worship to stand up for those who don't have a voice. Thank you for challenging us to go back and fight for the poor. There's work to be done. 13

Rev. Walker said this was an inspirational, instructional and powerful Address challenging us to examine ourselves, accept the challenge and Thank You. Rev. Holloway said Thank you and Thank God for Blessing us. MOTION CARRIED. Love Offering received in whatever amount you choose to give Bishop Moore asked Presiding Elder Colbert to preside until he returns.
