Bishop Search Timeline The search for the 11th bishop of Indianapolis is broken into two big pieces. The Search Committee will work between now and July 2016 to engage in conversation with members of the diocesan household, develop a profile of our diocese, receive names for consideration, and discern a slate of candidates. From there, the Transition Committee will introduce the candidates to the diocese, oversee the election of the new bishop at the October 2016 diocesan convention, celebrate the ministry of Bishop Cate, and plan for the consecration of the new bishop in April 2017. Joseph Cruickshank Talbot (1872-1883): Previously served as bishop of New Mexico, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Montana, and Idaho, calling himself the Bishop of All Outdoors.
