WELCOME STATE CONGRESS OF CHRISTIAN EDUCATION VOLUME 7, NUMBER 2 JULY 2012 Progressive Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention of Florida, Inc. The President Speaks... Greetings, Progressive Constituency, Visitor, and Friends! Greetings, and Welcome to the 39th Annual Session of the Progressive Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention s Congress of Christian Education. As we have gathered here in the beautiful city of Orlando, I am thankful to the Almighty God who has allowed us to come together one more time. Also, I m excited about our week of study that promises to be a very enriching time of teaching, sharing and learning. Director McCullough and his staff, along with Director Cooper and Directress Rosier, have been busily planning and preparing to offer our adults and youth an intense week of study. The word tells us to; study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. This week gives us an opportunity to extend, enrich, or continue our study from our various churches, as well as give us helpful information that will enhance our knowledge of God s word and enable us to grow in our personal walk with the Lord. If the church is to be Real, Relevant, and Righteous, teaching and study of the word must always be a high priority on our agenda. Special thanks to Reverend Dr. Willie C. Barnes and the Macedonia M. B. Church of Eatonville, and Reverend Dr. Rollie Murray, Jr. and the Bethel M. B. Church of Orlando, along with First South Florida Association for taking the challenge to host and co-host this congressional session. Your hard work, time, and effort, to ensure us an enjoyable stay in Orlando is not taken likely, and we certainly appreciate all you did to make it a memorable one. My prayer is that each of us will have a blessed week and return to our local churches with renewed vigor to do more for kingdom Building. Rev. Dr. Bartholomew Banks, Sr., President The 39th Annual Session of the Congress of Christian Education THEME: The Church Real, Relevant, and Righteous Matthew 16:18; 1 Peter 2:4; Acts 5:12-16

SENIOR WOMEN S MINISTRY 2 A Word From President Wright Greetings, Beloved Sisters! It is with great joy that I greet you in the Name of Our Lord and Christ! Without doubt, our God has been both gracious and kind to us as we continue to do the work of mission. It is nearly impossible for me to express appropriate gratitude to this sisterhood for the wonderful ways you participate in serving persons Jesus called, the least of these, during this past convention year. To be sure, according to Matthew 25, Jesus said that when we feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, take in strangers, visit those in prison, we literally do so unto Him. Senior Women, you have done just as He s asked. We ve reached out at home and abroad and yes, God is pleased. Although this has been a busy year for us, we give glory, honor and praise to God for allowing us to carry out His will and His work. We were able to come together with our beloved sisters from across the nation for a fellowship extraordinaire as we hosted the 19th Annual National Field Missionary Conference. This conference, held in Panama City was a blessed time in the Name of Our Lord and Savior. Special thanks is extended to our North Florida Family led by Area Chairperson, Sister Eddie L. Lindsey, Co-Chair, Sister Dorothy Davis; District President, Sister Gloria Beamon; Advisor, Rev. B.K. Brown; Moderators, Rev. A. Young, Dr. R. Wood, Rev. H. McCullough, Pastors, Teachers, Churches, Committee Chairs, Field Missionary Workers and Senior Women from across the State, for a job well done. Our National Senior Women s President, Sister Alice Thomas, as well as the National Field Missionary Conference President, Sister Carrie Moore were most grateful for the spiritual blessings received along with the missionary outreach to the North Florida area HIV/ Aids Network through an abundance of donated items from many of you. As we continue our service to mankind throughout the remainder of 2012, we pray God s blessings upon you and our efforts, as we are continue to be reminded that we are one body, one fellowship, one mission and most of all, we serve one God. May your week of study at the State Congress be filled with sincere fellowship, love, and unity of purpose as we grow in the grace, knowledge and understanding of God s Word. Your Servant, Barbara F. Wright

I Sister Gerri McCallister t is with great joy that I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, as we look forward to a spiritual-filled and blessed 39th Annual Session of the State Congress of Christian Education during this week. We praise God for showering us with His blessings during the 98th Session of the Progressive Missionary and Educational Baptist State Convention and, the 6th Annual Session for the Deaconess Council Ministry. We were blessed by the presence of a number of Deaconesses attending for the first time. They came away inspired by what they witnessed during this time. Praises to Sister Bobbie Ponder of Ft. Walton Beach for her presentation on The Deaconess Role in the Church. Praises also to Sister Verveine Monroe of St. John Progressive Missionary Baptist Church Tampa for presenting the convention s theme in such a clear and concise form. As always, workshop directress, Sister Ruth Johnson did an excellent job continuing her series of teaching on the Different Types of Prayer. Special thanks to Sister Alice Frye, outgoing 2nd Vice-President of Panama City for introducing to us, The Cluster Session. Everyone enjoyed this spot tremendously and look forward to next Sadly, our beloved President, Sister Patricia A. Ball gave her resignation at the end of her annual address. Many were stunned by this announcement but now understand why. We are grateful to God for seeing her through surgery and this period of recuperation. We thank God for her 6 years of leadership. Immediately following Sister Ball s resignation, President Bartholomew Banks appointed first vice-president, Sister Gerri McCallister of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church - St. Petersburg to succeed Sister Ball and, 3rd vice-president Sister Judy Fagins of New Mt.
