Level 7: Worship and Character Course Description: Allah the Most High, through his infinite mercy and wisdom has made the deen of Islam easy to learn and understand. This great blessing of Allah, can be appreciated by the student having a thorough understanding of the Pillars of Islam and the Pillars of Iman. It is important that the student recognize the primary difference between these sets of pillars: The Pillars of Islam focus on the apparent actions of a Muslim, i.e. his or her apparent deeds, while the Pillars of Imaan focus on the beliefs of a Muslim. In this subject, the student continues the study of the Pillars of Islam by being introduced to: Zakah, the 3rd pillar of Islam, along with some of its ethics and rulings. This subject also teaches students the importance of giving sadaqah. The importance of living an Islamic lifestyle characterized by being modest in ones character, conduct, and dress. This subject also delves into the concept of death in Islam and the realities of the Hereafter. Unit B: Journey to the Hereafter This unit discusses the inevitability of death and what the deceased experiences in the Hereafter. It also teaches the students the proper way of praying for the deceased and discusses the signs of the impending Day of Judgment. This unit concludes with an explanation of Surat-ul-Haqqah which describes the realities of the Day of Judgment. Chapter Name Chapter 1: Death: The Gate to the Unseen World Student Objectives Understand the reality of death: its inevitability and unpredictability. Acquire the proper understanding of death. Acquire the proper belief in the Angel of Death. Recognize the importance of remembering death. Learn the hadeeth of the chapter where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, reminds us that we will all taste death. Explain the statement attributed Al-Hasan Al-Basri on our life span. Explain Ali Ibn Abi Talib's statement, "People are asleep, and they will only wake up when they die." Chapter 2: Salat-ul-Janazah Learn the importance of Salat-ul-Janazah. Learn how to perform Salat-ul-Janazah. Learn the benefits of Salat-ul-Janazh. Learn and understand the hadeeth on the reward of praying Salat-ul- Janazah. Learn about some Un-Islamic practices of some Muslims during the Janazah. Understand the concept of Sadaqah Jaariyah based on the hadeeth of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him in this chapter.

Chapter 2: Males and Females Learn that males and females are partners in Islam. Recognize the importance of avoiding temptations. Recognize the importance of marriage. Recognize the dangers of sexual relations outside marriage. Learn and understand the verses on lowering the gaze, the blessing of marriage and the evil of Zina in this chapter. Learn and understand the hadeeth on equity of men and women, and also the hadeeth on encouraging marriage. Learn the ahadeeth on forbidding khulwah and touching between the two genders. Understand that envy can harm others and we must protect ourselves from hasad. Learn how Allah gives people chances to accept and follow his guidance. Learn why believers must educate non-believers. Know the vocabulary terms: hasad and ayn.

Chapter 5: Sadaqah, Without Paying Money Learn the different types of sadaqah that do not involve money. Learn the importance of thikr and remembrance of Allah. Learn the importance of helping others. Learn the importance of doing good deeds. Know the hadeeth reported by Abu Tharr Al-Ghifari that sadaqah is prescribed for each human being, every day the sun rises. Learn the hadeeth that smiling for your fellow Muslim is sadaqah. Explain how sadaqah protects from the fire. Understand the hadeeth about how one can combat evil.
