News from New Hope New Hope Baptist Church 252 Rough and Ready Road Whiteville, NC 28472 But now these three remain: faith, hope and love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV Praise Him! Praise Him! I enjoy learning the stories behind the hymns we so often sing during our Worship. Hymns help us to see our Father more clearly. The writers often have put to music the words we want to praise the Lord with. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live. Psalm 146:2 Praise is our Lord s most righteous due. It is not an option whether we will offer praise it is one of God s commands. Scriptures clearly teach that we are to offer a sacrifice of praise to God continually (Hebrews 13:15, 16). Our daily sacrifice of praise should include joyful songs for who Christ is our blessed redeemer. Then we need to praise God for all of His daily blessings, which are beyond number. We should offer praise even for trials of life for they are often blessings in disguise. Finally, our sacrifice should include praise for His leading in ways yet to be experienced. This is another of the many favorite gospel hymns written by Fanny Crosby, blind American poetess. In all she wrote between 8000 and 9000 gospel hymn texts and supplied our hymnals with more beloved hymns that are still sung today than any other writer. Praise Him! Praise Him! first appeared in a Sunday School Hymnal, Bright Jewels, which was published in 1869. The song was originally titled, Praise, Give Thanks. And still today, these words evoke praise from each believing heart Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer! Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim! Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory; Strength and honor give to His holy Name! Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children, In His arms He carries them all day long. Refrain: Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness; Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song! Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer! For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died. He our Rock, our hope of eternal salvation, Hail Him! Hail Him! Jesus the Crucified.
See You in Church on Sunday! Sound His praises! Jesus who bore our sorrows, Love unbounded, wonderful, deep and strong. Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer! Heav nly portals loud with hosannas ring! Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever; Crown Him! Crown Him! Prophet, and Priest, and King! Christ is coming! over the world victorious, Pow r and glory unto the Lord belong. Elizabeth, there s not enough room for you and God on the throne of your heart. It s either Him or it s you. You need to step down. If you want victory, you have to first surrender. --Miss Clara, War Room You say you attend church occasionally. Is that because your pastor only preaches occasionally? These proposed changes will be presented at our Church Conference on Wednesday, November 18. Proposed addition to New Hope Baptist Church Constitution For Church Conference November 18, 2015 ARTICLE IX: STATEMENT ON MARRIAGE, GENDER, AND SEXUALITY We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Rejection of one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.) We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God. (Matt 15:18-20; 1 Cor6:9-10.) We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of New Hope Baptist Church as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the New Hope Baptist Church members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by New Hope Baptist Church in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality. (Matt 5:16; Phil 2:14-16; 1 Thess 5:22.)
We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11.) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Mark 12:28-3 1; Luke 6:3 1.) Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of New Hope Baptist Church. ==================================================== Proposed Church Facility Use Policy For Church Conference November 18, 2015 I affirm that: 1. I understand that the church does not allow its facilities to be used in a way that contradicts its faith or by persons or groups holding beliefs that contradict the church's faith. 2. To the best of my knowledge the purpose for which I am requesting use of church facilities will not contradict the church's faith, and I commit to promptly disclose any potential conflict of which I am aware or become aware to church staff. 3. I am not aware of any beliefs that are professed by me or the organization I represent and which is requesting use of the church's facilities that contradict the beliefs of the church. I agree to promptly disclose any potential conflicts in belief to church staff. 4. I understand that the church does not allow its facilities to be generally available to the public, and that my use of these facilities is subject to the pastor's approval, which is conditioned in part on my agreement to the requirements in the "Church Facility Use Policy," a copy of which I have read and understood. 5. I understand that I will be responsible for any damages to the church facilities resulting from this proposed use of facilities. The church believes disputes are to be worked out between parties without recourse to the courts. See, generally, Matthew Chapter 18 and 1 Corinthians Chapter 6. Accordingly, users of the facility agree to attempt resolution of any disputes through Christian mediation. The mission of New Hope Baptist Church is to proclaim the good news of God's Love, which is the gift of His Son Jesus the Christ, and minister to the community through the power and leadership of the Holy Spirit that all people may come to believe in Jesus as their personal Savior.
