She then went on to tell us about the latest project of Habitant For Humanity, The Veterans Village and how it is progressing. Why the Veterans Village, according to the Veterans affairs 1.6 million veterans live in Florida: 45,000 reside in Lake and Sumter Counties. Transitioning from the services to civilian life is not easy. A safe, affordable home assist in the transition not only financially, but mentally, providing a veterans with a peace of mind. A home is where we feel safe, where we connect with our families, and where we establish ourselves in our community. Habitat for Humanity believes that our veterans deserve a place to call home. What is the Veterans Village? A 13 home planned unit development located in Umatilla, Fl. Designed as a Florida Cottage pocket Community, The village will have an old time feel, where front porch sitting and knowing your neighbors is encouraged. The location is beautifully situated on Lake Enola, with walk able access to downtown and near the local bus line. Who is Eligible? Veterans, active military, and spouses of those who have served that fall within the economic threshold for affordable to workforce housing with the ability to pay a affordable mortgage. This Rotary club looks forward to helping out on those project as well as the many other projects that Habitant for Humanity does through out Sumter and Lake counties. 1

Special Anti Polio drive kicks off in Southwestern Pakistan Kabul,December 21, 2016 Polio High Council meeting held on Tuesday to provide full support for Polio Eradication in Afghanistan, emphasizing on strengthen coordination among all polio partners and maintaining program neutrality to gain access to all children under the age of 5 with two drops of polio vaccine in every round of the campaign. Dr Ferozuddin Feroz calling the polio eradication program as a national and global health priority added at the beginning of 2016 we said we were closer to polio eradication than ever before. Today I can say that we are even closer than ever before. All data and information from Afghanistan and Pakistan indicates that the virus in the last reservoir is on the verge of extension. This means that the trend of the program improvement is encouraging. During 2016, so far, 99% of the districts of the country did not report any virus circulation both from AFP cases and environment. This is a success which is recognized at the Global level; thus, the momentum that has been taken by the government of Afghanistan should not be interrupted but strengthened, but further Dr. Feroz went on to state that the success would not have been possible without the strong commitment at the leadership of the government from the Presidential palace to the leadership of all line ministries. Soon a global world free of Polio, we are so close, but it is not over yet we still need your support. I would like to thank Bud Mangels and Bonnie Rae Cypher for making me aware of the articles paraphrased above. 8
