St. George Youth Director Alex Limberatos Alex Limberatos is a graduate of Hellenic College & Holy Cross. He began his education in 2011 when he enrolled for a Bachelors of Religious Studies and continued on to finish at Holy Cross with a Masters of Divinity. Among his academic theological studies, Alex studied pastoral subjects such as youth ministry, religious education, and marriage & family life. His senior Masters of Divinity Thesis was on the intersections of Orthodoxy and Far Eastern Religions & Practices. He has had experience teaching and leading Vacation Bible School programs as well as teaching elementary & high school Sunday School classes. Alex has participated in a number of mission trips, including two to Albania, one to Project Mexico. This summer, between graduation from Holy Cross and beginning at St. George on August 1, he will be in Indonesia for a month staying on various islands. He is hoping to pursue the service of missions down the road in his life. Alex is a Wisconsin native who loves to write and read. He hopes to develop family ministries along with youth ministries so as to enrich the lives of all with the holy and sustaining life of the Orthodox Christian Church. Alex is excited to be serving the community of St. George, and hopes to not only become a welcome member of the parish but also to give all he can in service to God and this beautiful community. Greek Dance 2017-2018 St. George Greek Orthodox Church Dance group for ages 4-6 This group is an introduction to the culture and heritage of Greece. Dancers will learn the basic dance steps to prepare them for the second level of the dance group Dance Group for ages: 7-13 This group focuses more in depth in the Greek culture and heritage. Dancers prepare for the Hellenic Dance Festival, an organization where Greek Folk dancers come together once a year to compete while having fun. Dance Group for Ages 14-18 Mid-advanced group Dancers focus on heritage and culture in a more advance setting. Dancers prepare for the Hellenic Dance Festival, an organization where Greek Folk dancers come together once a year to compete while having fun. Dance Group for ages 19-30 The highest level and advanced dance group for adults The dancers at St. George are taught dances from various parts of Greece with emphasis on culture and heritage. All groups and age levels will perform at festivals and various church functions. The Sunday School Program is a very strong religious education program for pre-school through high school aged students. Staffed by dedicated and trained volunteers, students participate in weekly classes following the Divine Liturgy each Sunday during the academic year. The instruction materials are those which have been developed by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of Religious Education. Special projects, including art and music, are also offered at certain grade levels. HOPE & JOY HOPE & JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth) are ministries leading the children into experiencing the Holy Orthodox Faith. By developing a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and becoming active sacramental members of the living Church, our children will be equipped with tools necessary to assist them in their journey toward salvation. By laying a foundation of faith at this age, the young people will have something that will guide and strengthen them through life. HOPE (Holy Orthodox Primary Education) is for Kindergarten - 2nd Grade children: This is the beginning level of introducing the Orthodox faith in a child s life. Activities are based on the specific age groups. JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth) is for 3rd Grade - 6th Grade children A well balanced Joy ministry program will provide activities that meet the needs of all children in the ministry. This is a more advance level of teaching and introducing the advance level of our faith. Y.A.L. The Young Adult League (YAL) is open to all young adults of St George Church. The YAL creates a setting where Young Adults grow spiritually through experiencing the four characteristics the Orthodox Faith: Worship, Witness, Service, and Fellowship. Using these four characteristics, we will live a balanced Orthodox Christian life, growing in His likeness. YAL meetings are held weekly.
