July 30, 2017 SEEKING THE FACE OF GOD IN PRAYER It is with great joy we announce that the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites are in the process of forming a community in Ville Platte. Discalced Carmelite Seculars are members of the Carmelite family of the 16 th century reform of St. Teresa of Jesus. Seculars are practicing members of the Catholic Church who are over the age of 18. They come from all walks of life: men and women, married or unmarried, or ordained diocesan priests or deacons. The Secular Carmelites main charism is prayer. They make the commitment to the Discalced Carmelite Order to seek the face of God for the sake of the Church, the world and their families. If you would like more information on the Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites, please see the brochure on the literature rack of call: Karen Perron: 336-1775 Roberta McCurry: 363-6994 Connie Fontenot: 363-1576 Marlena Fontenot: 336-9372 Try a little kindness One look at the daily news reminds us: It s a cold, cruel world out there. Innocence is slaughtered every day. The harshness of the world can make us tough, self-protecting, and cold at the center: Not my job. Not my problem. But the violence of our generation really is our problem, and the job of responding to it can only be ours. We have one great weapon in the war against cruelty. Today, unwrap the gift of kindness. Use it liberally, especially with those who trespass against you. Natural Family Planning Class Natural Family Planning (NFP) brings romance to married love! Couples naturally expand their repertoire of intimacy (in-to-me-see) while effectively planning the births of their children. Learn NFP to capture the romance!
