This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 118:24, NIV). Welcome! Today we continue our series on the parables by looking at the Parable of the Lost Sons from Luke 15:11-32. Next week, we will study the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard from Matthew 20:1-16. We will also witness the baptism of Wilfred Cabot Bekius, the son of Cabot and Jackelyn Bekius. After this morning s worship service we will cast lots for new deacons and also vote for new elders. All new elders and deacons should plan to attend an orientation meeting on Monday, August 4th at 6:00. Supper will be provided. Afterward deacons and elders will each have their monthly meeting at 7:00. New and current officebearers should plan to attend that meeting. Your offering next Sunday, July 27, will be received for the General Fund. DONATIONS FOR A NEW PARSONAGE GARAGE: The Deacons are inviting you to come to the parsonage garage this Wednesday, July 23 or Thursday, 24 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and are asking for your help financially with this project. A dessert and beverage will be served. Please come and support this effort. If you have any questions please talk to Char DeKraker. This morning each of you received a letter about welcoming children to the communion table. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Michael or your household elder. All parents of baptized children who haven t made public profession of faith but are too old for Worship Center should have received an additional letter as well inviting you to discuss this new opportunity as a family. If you did not receive one of those letters and should have, please inform Pastor Michael or Anita. Congratulations to the following congregational members observing special days this week: Rena Top - 98th birthday, Tuesday, July 22 Maynard Smith - 88th birthday, Tuesday, July 22 (Maynard s address is c/o Mikel Smith, 1213 Circle High Dr. Burnsville, MN 55306) Ray Tellinghuisen - 86th birthday, Friday, July 25 Marie Larson had successful partial knee replacement surgery this week. Please keep her and Darold in your prayers as she recovers. We express our sympathy to Frank Kuperus and his family in the passing into glory of his sister-in-law, Marie Kuperus, in Ackley, IA Bonnie Kaun has been busy completing a few of the things on her bucket list which included a trip to California to visit her sister and attend a nephew's wedding. Her health has had its ups and downs but overall she is doing well. Her pain medication is under control, unfortunately the side effects have made her somewhat confused and more forgetful. She tires easily so she goes to bed early and sleeps late most days. Bonnie & her family continue to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support. The Goodness, Patience, Joy & Gentleness Households will meet at Rock Pile Driving Range (across from the Stones Throw Golf Course) this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. for a picnic. Hamburgers & Hotdogs will be provided. Bring a chair and your golf clubs and enjoy an afternoon together.
