1 December 9, 2012 Morning Class Al Muttaqin Ayah 113 115 Surah Ale Imran Continuing from the last week discussion of the characteristics of we summarized their characteristics as follows, given in Ayah 113 & 114: given in Ayahs 113 and 114 of Surah Ale Imran, 1. 2. 3. 4. 1 Abu Dawud, Tirmidzi, Ibnu Majah, An-Nasa I, Al Baihaqi i, Ath-Thabrani, Ahmad, Muslim Meaning: verily all praise is for Allah, we praise Him and seek His help and ask for His forgiveness, and we seek refuge with Allah from the evil of ourselves and the bad consequence of our deeds. Whomever Allah guide there is none who can misguide him, and whomever Allah misguide there is none who can guide him, and I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah alone, having no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger. And because of these characteristics they have been elevated among the righteous people: they are among the righteous The name sa aleh means being reformed deserves to live in the Jannah it can be a sa aleh deed or a sa aleh person ( ). Now we shall see in Ayah 115 Insha Allah how Allah reward and appreciate the righteous people: Ayah 115 Whatever good deeds they do ( ) anything that is good, less ( ) or more ( ) Page 2
They shall never go unappreciated Allah negating in the future ( ) i.e.. an assurance is given by Allah that all their good deeds, no matter how small or big it might be, will never go wasted or unnoticed by Allah, they will never be deprived ( )or miss the rewards ( ) of their good deeds. is a passive tense and comes from which means to cover, here it shows that Allah will never cover their good deeds from appreciation and will appreciate and reward all the good deeds of the righteous people and that too the best and complete reward, and who can be better in appreciating and giving rewards than Allah. And Allah is All Knower of the Muttaqin See how every good deed is related to taqwaa in the end the logical sequence of all the good deeds of the righteous people goes to the taqwa of Allah and how Allah - the All Knower knows about their taqwa and how He reward and appreciate them for their taqwa. So if we never want to be deprived of Allah s blessing and rewards then we should always be careful about taqwa because Allah knows our hearts as well the more the taqwa the more the reward. Page 3
Another verse in Quran says Allah accept only from the God-fearing 2, i.e. any deeds without taqwa are not accepted. So the more we have taqwa the more we have acceptance of the deeds and the rewards of our accepted deeds. Now we move to Ayah 120 of Surah Ale Imran 2 Page 4
In this Ayah Allah is telling about the Ahle Kitab and their relation with muslimeen. if something good happens to you is from meaning touch; it means that when any good ( ) touches ( ) or happens to muslimeen: for example any victory over the enemies ( ), or conquered an opening ( ) or any war booty ( ) then the Ahle Kitab feel bad and sad about it and they feel hurt and depressed. it annoys them is from which means feeling sad ( ) or depressed ( ) But next we see in the ayah that when some muslimeen. evil befalls on muslimeen then the other party is happy to see the distress of the Page 5
if something evil befalls you Any big calamity like defeat in a war or someone killed or similar type of crisis befalls muslimeen then the disbelievers are very delighted about it. they are delighted with it They are the real enemies of the muslimeen. What do the believers do ( )? See how Allah is telling the muslimeen to deal with this type of situation, actually there are two things muslimeen have been advised to do: if you keep patiencee and fear Allah (1) Patient not to feel bad about it, control your self (2) Taqwa guarding yourself from falling into sins: don t want to really say or do anything which displeases Allah. These two things patience and taqwa - together give us victory ( ). Page 6
What is the real victory of muslimeen? Their cunning shall not harm you at all Allah promising the believers that if they keep patient and fear Allah and control themselves against the disbelievers, their enemies, then the reward from Allah is the victory and promise that their enemy s evil plots will not do any harm to them. High taqwa and patience followed by big victory and the plots of the enemies will turn back to them ( ), this is the best victory. from meaning harm their plot even little of the plot In the end of the verse Allah say Allah is All-Encompassing of what they do Page 7
Allah s is All-aware, His knowledge is perfect and Allah encompasses whatever they do and whatever p[, His knowledge surrounds them is from which means to surround, their enemies try to plot against them but Allah surround them what they by His Knowledge ( ) and His Ability ( ) Fear Allah wherever you may be; follow up an evil deed with a good one which will wipe (the former) out, and behave good naturedly towards people." {The Concept of Taqwa from Forty Hadith of Imam An Nawawi: Reported by Jundub bin Junadah and Mu'adh Bin Jabal Radhiyallahu anhuma} We ask Allah for His forgiveness and Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah for His acceptance of all our good deeds and forgiveness of our sins Ameen. Page 8
