We praise you for your creation, for keeping us and all things in your care, and for all the blessings of life. Above all we bless you for your immeasurable love in redeeming the world by our Lord Jesus Christ. On the mountains, and in the valleys We praise You, Lord, for all to see. Chorus: Oh la, oh dee oh, We sing and praise your holy name Oh la, oh dee oh, Forgive our sins, forget our blame Oh la, oh dee oh, Please take our troubles for today Oh la, oh dee oh, As we worship You and pray. You have called us to be your people. Lord won t You come and be with us? See us standing round your altar, won t you Come and set us free? Chorus 3

CONFESSION OF FAITH (all) Behold, the heavens, the earth and all that is in it, belong to the Lord our God. Yet the Creator of the universe has chosen to love and care for us. Through Jesus Christ, the Son of God, we know God s love and forgiveness. Jesus showed us how to walk in the way of love. He emptied himself as a servant and became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore, God highly exalted him and raised him up, that at the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. As servants of Christ, we live each day by the power of the Holy Spirit, who strengthens us in faith, calls us to be witnesses, and gives us peace. We trust God to give us courage, strength and guidance for our lives each day. Courage to touch others with the healing hands of Christ. Strength to care for the hungry, the stranger, the lonely, and the outcast. Guidance to reach out in loving ways to those around us. We place our lives, our future, and our all into God s hands. Amen. OFFERING SONG: We Offer Of Ourselves Chorus Verse 1) Verse 2) Verse 3) Verse 4) We offer of ourselves to show our love for you. We share your sacred time because you want us to. Lord, accept us for what we are for we come from near and far To worship through your son. Children of a sinful race who do seem so out of place, But worshipping as one. Chorus Our work and joy and pain ---we also offer you Accept our humble gifts because we want you to. Chorus We realize we re poor but we offer what we can. Accept our change of heart accept our open hand. Chorus Now as we celebrate--- this sacrament of love. You give yourself to man --- A gift from up above. Chorus OFFERTORY PRAYER (all) Bless these gifts, O God, and bless us as we offer ourselves to serve you in different ways and to praise you in many voices. Send your Spirit upon us, that when we speak the word of your love, people may hear and understand. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen 4

SONG Let The Sunshine In PRAYERS Joyful hope, love of God and smiling faces, Is the heritage we have as a child of God; Christ has risen to new life, put an end to death and strife, Now we celebrate as children of God. Chorus: So let the sun shine in, share Christ with your neighbor, And happiness will never leave your heart. So let the sun shine in, share Christ with your neighbor, And happiness will never leave your heart. On the job, in your home, or at a party, People wishing all their friends the peace of Christ; Happy feeling in the air, forget your troubles and your cares, And join all those who share the peace of Christ. Chorus Instrumental Repeat the chorus THE LORD S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen. 5

SONG: Together Forever Polka J. Evavold Instrumental Play through the verse Let us sing to God our praises for the sin that God erases. Open up our minds to see that our God has set us free. Life will never be the same since God calls us each by name. We will always be together in a life that lasts forever. Bridge So on this day that God is giving life on earth to all the living. Let us join in thankful serving with every breath that we are breathing. Nothing in all God s creation can separate us from relations. God will keep us all together in a life that lasts forever. Bridge Play through the verse BENEDICTION Go into the world blessed with the holiness of God, clothed with the humility of Jesus Christ, united in the power of the Holy Spirit SENDING SONG He Has Made Me Glad I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter his courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made; I will rejoice for he has made me glad. He has made me glad, he has made my glad. I will rejoice for he has made me glad. He has made me glad, he has made me glad. I will rejoice for he has made me glad. (instrumental) Repeat the song. CCLI#1330601 6

SONG: When The Saints Go Marching In Oh, when the saints go marching in, When the saints go marching in, Oh Lord I want to be in that number, When the saints go marching in. The two apostles on which so much depends are honored on the same day. Although each is important in his own way, the wisdom of pairing them is in perceiving their respective ministries, roles, and equal stature. Paul is not Peter and Peter is not Paul, and yet each of them gives so much to the church it would be impossible to rank them. In today's gospel we encounter Peter primarily through the repeated command of Christ. Peter is challenged by Jesus, "Feed/tend my lambs/sheep." It's a puzzling passage. Much has been made of the slight variations in the way Jesus asks his question and then gives his instruction. By the end of the exchange, we know how central Peter is to the ministry Jesus expects after his departure. In the second reading we hear Paul's parting words written to Timothy. Many Pauline themes are echoed here. Paul has kept the faith. He has run the race. There has been a battle and suffering, but the Lord has stood by and strengthened, as the Lord always does. Paul lives from and expresses his profound hope. Hope has marked his whole ministry. Now it is articulated in his farewell. Where the two texts come together is in the anticipated endings they communicate. Jesus describes how Peter's ministry will end, what kind of death he will endure. Paul also seems to be writing in anticipation of some kind of end, likely his own death, his being poured out as a libation. In both cases, in their deaths they will glorify God and God will illustrate God's faithfulness even in the midst of persecution and death. You will die, yet you will live. Once there, people are invited to sit on the benches together and enjoy the view, walk together along the boardwalk, ride ahead on their bikes, or go for a run with a church friend. See Heidi Johnson for a fund-raising opportunity. We hope to see many of you there. Great news! Due to a generous match, we have raised $1,375.00 for the Gabriel Fund through the Grandma's Marathon Fundraiser. Gloria Dei raised $1,265.00 for a total of $2,640 from the two churches. The Gabriel Fund was originally set up by several local churches to assist families who call local churches for help when they are in emergency situations. The fund is currently managed by CHUM. When we at Trinity receive these types of calls for assistance, we forward them to CHUM for help. Again this year, we won the Oasis Cup which is a competition between Gloria Dei and Trinity to see which church can raise the most funds for the Gabriel Project through sponsorship of Grandma s Marathon racers. We want to thank everyone who so generously helped with this project in any way. 9
