PAGE 2 FROM THE PASTOR S DESK... My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I trust that each of you are enjoying this wonderful summer. It is hard to believe that the time is moving as quickly as it is. In a recent meeting one of our parishioners asked me, Whatever happened to our parish council? Following the merger of St. Margaret Mary and St. Gregory the Great, there developed a council made up of members from both councils. It was decided that a new constitution should be developed. With the help of the Pastoral Planning Office of the diocese and with input from the members of the council, a new document came forth. It was suggested that a council be formed from among members of the two former parishes and new parishioners joining us from other parishes. This council would serve for one year and would take us through an election process at the end of its term. That new council will be formed this fall. Our Parish Finance Council continues its work, meeting monthly. Abbé Weaver will be speaking at the Masses next weekend when he will be making a special request. I do hope that we can be generous in helping him with his studies and preparations for the priesthood. Fr. Dave R. Ireland, S.T.D. Pastor Fr. Thomas J. Winkel, M.Div. Parochial Vicar Deacon David N. Father Ireland....from the voices of the children... The children have shared these Good Deeds for God, and they are exactly as the children presented them. Helping my grandpa watch my brother and sister. Holding the door for my grandfather. I was nice to my family. Thank you, children, for sharing these. Father Ireland FAMILY PERSPECTIVES... Jesus went to the mountain for some quiet time with the disciples. When 5,000 people arrived unexpectedly, He put aside His agenda, welcomed and fed them. Jesus teaches us to be people of hospitality who welcome the stranger and cheerfully give time and nourishment to others. II. Jason Schamp & Erin Meglich (St. Noel) I. JULY 29, 2012 P AGE 5 REFLECTION ON THE SCRIPTURES Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Jesus said, "Have the people recline." Now there was a great deal of grass in that place. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number. When they had had their fill, he said to his disciples, "Gather the fragments left over, so that nothing will be wasted." This exhibit, currently on display at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, includes photos, video footage, documents, and artifacts recording the extraordinary contributions of Pope John Paul II to relations between the Catholic and Jewish faiths. The exhibit draws its name from the Pope's 1993 appeal marking the 50th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising: "As Christians and Jews, following the example of the faith of Abraham, we are called to be a blessing to the world. This is the common task awaiting us. It is therefore necessary for us, Christians and Jews, to first be a blessing to one another." The exhibit will run through August 5th at the Maltz Museum, 2929 Richmond Rd., in Beachwood. For information call 216-593-0575 or visit maltzmuseum.org. Now we are ready for the cutters and sewers. There are patterns and directions for making the diapers available in Mary s Room. All of the material has been sorted into two categories: Fabric for diaper shell Fabric for the soaker part of the diaper If you are able to assist by cutting and/or sewing a few diapers, please stop by Mary s Room and pick up your materials AND the patterns and directions you will need.
