Kids Christmas party Inside this issue: Thank you from the Governor Administrator highlights Women of the Moose spotlight 2 2 3 Sweetheart dance 3 February 2017 4 Heart of the Community 5 The storm postponed Kids Christmas Party was a HO-HO-HO fun time for everyone. Thanks Chris Suman The Christmas spirit was spread all over by the Women of the Moose. They delivered approximately 30 gifts to 15 Angels on the Angel tree. Three needy families were given food baskets and toys were given to seven for the many pictures! A special thank you to Dennis Deeter from Miamisburg for being Santa the last 5 years. Christmas gifts to needy families kids and five adults. Three gift cards were given to Lodge members. These gifts were very much appreciated by all the people. Also, some nice Christmas gifts were sent to our Sunshine Child at Mooseheart, Esperancia Rempert, and our Sunshine Grandparent, Robert Shay Sr., at Moosehaven. These two were very appreciative and thankful for all we do for them. (See also page 3.) Moose Legion 6 Special points of interest: Check out the fun for Valentine s Day and Sweetheart Dance. Thank you from the Governor Thank you! Thank you! That is the best I can say for all the great things our members in Bellefontaine Moose do for our lodge, our community, and for each other. Three priorities for the remainder of the Moose year ending April 30: 1. Sponsor new members so we may grow and meet our great Moose goals. 2. Do all you can for the Hats off to all our fine members Administrator highlights Moose, for community, and for each other to be the friendliest place in town. 3. From the song by Jim McGraw always be humble and kind. The men have 407 members, 57 Moose Legion members, seven Fellows, one Pilgrim (deceased.), one District Board Officer, and one State Official. Note: we also have many dual members with these degrees. Our Lodge continues to grow in all aspects. Our lodge has a very solid base. We could not exist and grow and be one of the best Lodges in Ohio without all the fine efforts from each of you. Our Heart Of the Community giving is on page five. Other heart of the community Our lodge was rated Superior the last two quarters in Community Service and also received the Bronze Award in the nation last year. companion activities: Make-A Wish; big brothers, big sisters. Working with Local Cancer society to offer rides for out of town cancer appointments. We are in contact with local D.A.R.E. Office and we helped at their 4th annual community event. We have offered our Lodge in case of local emergencies'. We are asking to help a local Scout Troop in some way. Richard Sharon, Bellefontaine Moose Lodge Administrator Moose International State Association District #3 news Tampa Fl., is a vibrant, dynamic, and beautiful destination for the 2017 Moose International Convention June 29-July 3. At the time of this newsletter printing, there is still time to plan to attend and enjoy the Ohio State Moose Association 2017 Mid Year Conference February 1-5 in Independence. Look for really great things there to be announced in the March Newsletter. The next State District #3 Meeting will be at Lima Lodge March 19, and at Kenton April 9. (note the date.) Women of the Moose spotlight Wow! Here we are close to a new Moose Year with a different newsletter. The Women of the Moose WOTM have been busy with our first Craft Fair and Special Auction of Art Projects Women of the moose glass decal can be ordered from Moose Intl. Place this on your car or a visible place. created by our own Aiden, Logan, and Hannah. We really appreciate the donations and support everyone has given to our many charities, to our wonderful Mooseheart and also to our wonderful Moosehaven. Thank you! We are now starting to look for new 2017-18 WOTM Officers. Ladies we need you! We have 263 members, two College of Regents, 13 Academy of Friendship, two Star Recorders, and one Woman s State Official (Chris Tillman, State Community Service Chairman for the WOTM). We are so very proud of her. If you would be interested in a trip to Mooseheart to attend her graduation and see Mooseheart, let your interest be known to any officer. With enough interest we may be able to set up a day trip! Robert Shay Sr., our sponsored grandparent at Moosehaven, is doing well. If you are ever close to Jacksonville, Florida, stop in and see him at Moosehaven. They are both very appreciative of everything we do. They write very nice thank you notes to our chapter expressing their thoughts! Treat your sweetie for Valentine s Day, and dance Feb. 10 Be sure and mark your calendar for Valentine s day February 14 and the Sweetheart Ball February 10. The dance is going to rock your socks and is even fun to watch. There is going to be a lot o f f u n f o r e v e r y o n e. No sweetie? Well come on down for free hugs and great spirit. No one will be left out of all the good fun. There will be a lot of camaraderie and food may be available. Reach out and hug someone; you will make their day. Heart of the Community, making a difference Moose International: Making our communities better places in which to live is a major portion of the mission of the Moose fraternity. Our Lodges and Chapters annually contribute monetary donations, values of miles driven and value of hours served totaling more than $75 million. From small projects to large undertakings, from local programs to national and international partnerships, In the Heart of the Community program Bellefontaine Moose is among the best. This one document will help do so much for so many people! the men and women of the Moose are there and they are reliable, compassionate and genuine in their responses to the needs of others. Our goal is for residents, both members and non-members, to see the Moose as The Heart of the Community. Raise the Roof, build the Moose Family Organization The most important moose document you can carry is the form for signing up members. The Bellefontaine Moose is well on the way to our goals. Get out and sign friends, family, and people you know for a chance to have the most fun in Bellefontaine, at the friendliest place in town. By being a member there are very large numbers of people that you can make a positive difference in their lives by Lodge community service and helpfulness. Even by just walking in, you bring a certain Moose spirit to the lodge. Any member can sponsor men or women into the lodge. Yearly dues: men $40; women $30, one time fee $20. Ring, Ring, Ring goes the Bell The Bellefontaine Moose Lodge is starting another newsletter. This will add to our other web communications on Facebook, YouTube, Moose Web, and the OSMA site to spread the word about our Moose pride and fun at the friendliest place in town. The Bell Publication will cover areas of our fine lodge, but we need pictures to make it fun. Pass it around to people you know. Winners of cook off: Hot Gerri Welch, Mild Gloria Jackson Thanks to Mike and Carlee for a huge success on the OSU outside fire ring fund raising. The gas grill was a big success thanks to Jim and Richard. Thanks to Geoff for another successful December big Chili cook off. The 50/50 s are always fun. The fund raising during OSU Football Games is fun for all involved. Our latest project, the purchase of a new popcorn machine for the Lodge, Mooseheart and Moosehaven. We do so many fine things for the Moose, it is hard to list them all, however, a few of our recent prowas a really tasty success with great pop music. In closing, a big thank you to the Moose Legion Board of Officers for a great successful year. Meeting times are: second Sunday of each month at 12:00 noon.
