Memory Verses for Grades 7-8 (2017-18) Each week you will have a new memory verse that you will need to write out on Friday along with who wrote the verse, context of the verse in the Bible and how this verse can apply to your life. At the end of each unit You will need to write out all verses from that unit. Please study your memory verses each day so the verses go into LONG Term Memory! Unit 1 Lesson 1 "I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you" (Psalm 119:11). Lesson 2 "The word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything he does" (Psalm 33:4). Lesson 3 "May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all" (2 Corinthians 13:14). Lesson 4 "Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!' " (John 14:6,7). Lesson 5 "The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!" (Galatians 5:22, 23).
Unit 2 Lesson 6 "Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding, or from human initiative. No those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God" (2 Peter 1:20, 21). Lesson 7 "Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near. Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously" (Isaiah 55:6, 7). Lesson 8 "People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy" (Proverbs 28:13). Lesson 9 "Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, 'Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.' This is a daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day. Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate. Thus day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ" (Steps to Christ, p.70). Lesson 10 "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see" (Hebrews 11:1). Lesson 11 "Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him" (Steps to Christ, P. 93).
Lesson 12 "He does not punish us for our sins, He does not deal harshly with us,as we deserve. For His unfailing love toward those who fear Him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:10-12). Unit 3 Lesson 13 "Commit everything you do to the Lord, Trust him, and he will help you" (Psalm 37:5). Lesson 14 "If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness" (1 John 1:9). Lesson 15 "See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him. Dear friends, we are already God's children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is" (1John 3:1, 2). Lesson 16 "They said to each other, 'Didn't our hearts burn within us as he talked with us on the road and explained the Scriptures to us?'" (Luke 24:32).
Unit 4 Lesson 17 "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere--in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8). Lesson 18 "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect" (Romans 12:2). Lesson 19 "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,do it all for the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). Lesson 20 "See how much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him" (1 John)
Unit 5 Lesson 21 "Go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age'" (Matthew 28:19, 20). Lesson 22 "As for us, we can't help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation--a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth" (2 Thessalonians 2:13). Lesson 23 "Jesus said to them, 'The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!'" (Mark 2:27, 28). Lesson 24 "We died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives" (Romans 6:4). Lesson 25 "Every time you eat of this bread and drink of this cup, you are announcing the Lord's death until he comes again" (1 Corinthians 11:26). Lesson 26 "The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words" (1Thessalonians 4:16--18).
Lesson 27 " 'Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do' says the Lord of Heaven's Armies, 'I will open the windows of heaven for you I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!' " (Malachi 3:10). Unit 6 Lesson 28 "Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. 'Honor your father and mother.' This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, 'things will go well for you and you will have a long life on the earth' " (Ephesians 6:1-3). Lesson 29 "There are 'friends' who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). Lesson 30 "Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them: (Exodus 25:8). Lesson 31 "Don't let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity" (1Timothy 4:12).
Unit 7 Lesson 32 "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets' " (Matthew 7:12). Lesson 33 "He went a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, 'My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine' " (Matthew 26:39). Lesson 34 " ' Look, I am coming soon bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.' " He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, 'Yes, I am coming soon!' " (Revelation 22:12, 13, 20).
