A Cumberland Presbyterian Congregation July 1, 2011 Volume 4 No.7 "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance" (Psalm 33:12). My Dear Friends, God has certainly blessed the United States. He's extended His hand of provision across this great nation. Yet, how often do we fail to thank Him? As most Americans prepare to celebrate their independence this week, it's fitting to take a moment and offer thanks to God. He's provided so abundantly for us. Think about how God has blessed us in the following areas: First, our Godly heritage. History shows that many of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence were Christians. This country was founded on Biblical principles and a Christ-centered interpretation of justice, fairness, and equal opportunity. Second, He's blessed us with natural resources. Just think about the blessings God's placed at our feet: ore, minerals, oil, forests, lakes, pastures, farmlands, and more. He's provided what we need for ourselves and enough to care for other countries around the world. Third, we should appreciate our economy. The free enterprise we enjoy in America is a remarkable blessing. We excel in innovations because we're at liberty to follow our passions. Finally, God has placed us in a free country. You should thank God for the election process and the freedom to personally impact the direction of this nation. It's an amazing blessing that's completely unheard of in many parts of the world. This weekend, slow down a bit and look around. Try to intentionally notice the Lord's blessings in your life. What do you need to thank Him for? I look forward to seeing you on Sunday, July 3 rd, as we worship together and then on Monday, July 4 th, for our annual Fourth of July Celebration Community Cookout. Due to the drought situation, we will not have our fireworks display this year but we will still have a lot of food, fun, and fellowship. Wayne and his crew will be serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the trimmings. You are asked to bring your favorite desserts and come on over at 6:00PM. Until then, HAVE A GREAT WEEK WITH JESUS! Sincerely His then yours, Eddie

Hope Church has opened its Fellowship/Youth Building to the Valrico Elementary School s, S.P.A.C.E. Program. They will be meeting here each Friday, beginning June 17, and continuing through July 29, 7:30 AM 6:30 PM. Mr. Sam Macko, Physical Education Director, from Valrico Elementary, is the Program Director. The acronym S.P.A.C.E. stands for Students, Parents, and Community Education. It is a unique one of a kind after-school enrichment program that functions under the direct supervision of the School District of Hillsborough County. During their time spent here they will be providing the students a camp-like atmosphere that focuses on developing the physical and social needs of the students. This is accomplished through the use of cooperative play activities that include video and board games, arts and crafts, outside physical activity, cooperative bingo, etc. We are glad that we are able to offer the use of our building and grounds for the next 7 Fridays as a part of our outreach to the community. MONDAY, JULY 4 TH 6:00 P.M. Food and Fellowship The church will furnish hot dogs, hamburgers, and all the trimmings (look for some special surprises). You can bring your favorite desserts, lawn chairs and a friend or two! See you on the Fourth!! Meals on Wheels Coordinator, Don Head, reports that our new program is off and running. Enthusiasm is high and our volunteers are showing up ready to work. We have finished early each week so far and we give God the glory for allowing us to serve in this great ministry. If you would be interested in joining us, then show up on Thursday morning around 10:00AM and let God use YOU!!
