FEW ARE THE HEARERS AND DOERS OF THE WORD SOWING THE WORD OF GOD FRIDAY, AUGUST 5, 2016 Matthew 25:1-12 Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now FIVE OF THEM WERE WISE, AND FIVE WERE FOOLISH. Those who were FOOLISH TOOK THEIR LAMPS AND TOOK NO OIL WITH THEM, but the WISE TOOK OIL IN THEIR VESSELS WITH THEIR LAMPS. But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard: Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him! Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out. But the wise answered, saying, No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and THOSE 1
WHO WERE READY WENT IN WITH HIM TO THE WEDDING; AND THE DOOR WAS SHUT. AFTERWARD THE OTHER VIRGINS CAME ALSO, SAYING, LORD, LORD, OPEN TO US! BUT HE ANSWERED AND SAID, ASSUREDLY, I SAY TO YOU, I DO NOT KNOW YOU. Luke 6:46-49 BUT WHY DO YOU CALL ME LORD, LORD, AND NOT DO THE THINGS WHICH I SAY? WHOEVER COMES TO ME, AND HEARS MY SAYINGS AND DOES THEM, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and COULD NOT SHAKE IT, for it was founded on the rock. BUT HE WHO HEARD AND DID NOTHING is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it FELL. And the ruin of that house was great. Ephesians 5:15-17 See then that you walk circumspectly, NOT AS FOOLS BUT AS WISE, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. THEREFORE DO NOT BE UNWISE, BUT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE WILL OF THE LORD IS. Psalms 40:8 "I delight TO DO YOUR WILL, O MY GOD, AND YOUR LAW (Torah) is within my heart. Matthew 7:21-27 NOT EVERYONE WHO SAYS TO ME, LORD, LORD, SHALL ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, BUT HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN. Many 2
will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, I NEVER KNEW YOU; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS! Therefore WHOEVER HEARS THESE SAYINGS OF MINE, AND DOES THEM, I will liken him to A WISE MAN who built his house on THE ROCK: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and IT DID NOT FALL, for IT WAS FOUNDED ON THE ROCK. But EVERYONE WHO HEARS THESE SAYINGS OF MINE, AND DOES NOT DO THEM, will be like A FOOLISH MAN who built his house on THE SAND: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; AND IT FELL. And GREAT WAS ITS FALL. Matthew 21:28-31a But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, SON, GO, WORK TODAY IN MY VINEYARD. He answered and said, I will not, but afterward he regretted it and went. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir, but he did not go. WHICH OF THE TWO DID THE WILL OF HIS FATHER? They said to Him, THE FIRST. James 1:21-25 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and RECEIVE WITH MEEKNESS THE IMPLANTED WORD, WHICH IS ABLE TO SAVE YOUR SOULS. BUT BE DOERS OF THE WORD, AND NOT HEARERS ONLY, DECEIVING YOURSELVES. For IF ANYONE IS A HEARER OF THE WORD AND NOT A DOER, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, 3
and immediately FORGETS WHAT KIND OF MAN HE WAS. BUT HE WHO LOOKS INTO THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY AND CONTINUES IN IT, AND IS NOT A FORGETFUL HEARER BUT A DOER OF THE WORK, THIS ONE WILL BE BLESSED IN WHAT HE DOES. HEAR: Mark 12:28-30 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, Which is the first commandment of all? Yehoshua (Jesus) answered him, THE FIRST OF ALL THE COMMANDMENTS IS: HEAR, O ISRAEL, THE LORD OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE. AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH. THIS IS THE FIRST COMMANDMENT. AND DO: Mark 12:31 "And the second, like it, is this: YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. There is no other commandment greater than these. HEAR: Deuteronomy 6:4-7 HEAR, O ISRAEL: THE LORD OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE! YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH. And these words which I command you 4
today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. AND DO: Deuteronomy 6:4-7 Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. AND THESE WORDS WHICH I COMMAND YOU TODAY SHALL BE IN YOUR HEART. YOU SHALL TEACH THEM DILIGENTLY TO YOUR CHILDREN, AND SHALL TALK OF THEM WHEN YOU SIT IN YOUR HOUSE, WHEN YOU WALK BY THE WAY, WHEN YOU LIE DOWN, AND WHEN YOU RISE UP. The hearers and doers are few. Matthew 9:36-38 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, The harvest truly is plentiful, but THE LABORERS ARE FEW. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Matthew 7:12-14 Therefore, WHATEVER YOU WANT MEN TO DO TO YOU, DO ALSO TO THEM, FOR THIS IS THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS. Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult 5
is the way which leads to life, and THERE ARE FEW WHO FIND IT. Luke 13:22-27 And He went through by cities and villages, teaching, and making progress toward Jerusalem. And one said to Him, Lord, ARE THE ONES BEING SAVED FEW? But He said to them, LABOR to enter through the narrow gate, for I say to you that many will seek to enter in, and WILL NOT HAVE STRENGTH. From the time the Master of the house rises up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and answering He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you? Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank before You, and You taught in our streets.' And He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know you, from where you are. Stand back from Me, all workers of unrighteousness.'" Joshua 1:7-9 Only BE STRONG and very courageous, that you may OBSERVE TO DO according to all THE LAW WHICH MOSES MY SERVANT COMMANDED YOU; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. THIS BOOK OF THE LAW shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may OBSERVE TO DO ACCORDING TO ALL THAT IS WRITTEN IN IT. For then YOU WILL MAKE YOUR WAY PROSPEROUS, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? BE STRONG and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, FOR THE LORD YOUR GOD IS WITH YOU WHEREVER YOU GO. The name Simon (or Simeon) means "hearing" in Hebrew. 6
The name Jonah means "dove," which represents the Holy spirit (Luke 3:22). This message is for you who "HEAR" the Spirit and "DO" what He says: John 21:15-17 So when they had eaten breakfast, Yehoshua (Jesus) said to Simon Peter, Simon (HEARING), son of Jonah (SON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT), do you love Me more than these? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, FEED MY LAMBS. He said to him again a second time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? He said to Him, Yes, Lord; You know that I love You. He said to him, TEND MY SHEEP. He said to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me? Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, Do you love Me? And he said to Him, Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You. Yehoshua (Jesus) said to him, FEED MY SHEEP." Here is wisdom: ONE WHO HEARS THE SPIRIT: Takes and eats of the Bread of Life; the Word of God. AND ONE WHO DOES THE WORK: Feeds the Bread of Life, the Word of God, to others. Matthew 14:19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke AND GAVE THE LOAVES TO THE DISCIPLES; AND THE DISCIPLES GAVE TO THE 7
MULTITUDES. Matthew 28:18-20 And Yehoshua (Jesus) came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL THE NATIONS, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, TEACHING THEM TO OBSERVE ALL THINGS THAT I HAVE COMMANDED YOU; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen. Matthew 24:45-46 Who then is a faithful and WISE servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, TO GIVE THEM FOOD IN DUE SEASON? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will FIND SO DOING." 8
