DEAR FRIENDS In a session at the Presence conference, main speaker Michael Ramsden of RZIM was asked what he saw as the biggest challenge facing student ministry in Europe. His response was a challenge facing not just student ministry and not just Europe. It came down to this simple question: How do we breed leadership in the absence of commitment? He shared about discussions with leaders in major secular organisations in the UK and the US who had also identified this as a challenge, and had been seeking solutions, but without success. Please pray for staff, volunteers and older student leaders in IFES national movements seeking to mentor younger leaders in a culture with little respect for commitment, a culture where it s all about me. Pray for Christian students to stand out in their university cultures as people of commitment, as people who serve others as sacrificially as Jesus did. Jill Bain IFES Supporter Relations
01 05 JUN English and Portuguese- Speaking Africa 01/06 The Africa Study Bible is a contextualised Bible study tool being launched this year in Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa. Pray that it would help many IFES students and staff across Africa to study the Bible. 02/06 Pray for the planning of EvaSue Ethiopia s National Leadership Summit from 21 Aug to 6 Sep. Ask God to equip student leaders and national movement staff for their leadership roles. 03/06 ABEMO Mozambique ask us to pray for the work in the north zone of the country where there is currently no staff worker. 04/06 GHAFES Ghana give thanks for former General Secretary, Victor Obeng, and ask us to pray for their Search and Selection Committee working to recruit a new general secretary. 05/06 Pray for pioneering work in the Cape Verde Islands and for plans to begin pioneering in the Island of São Tomé and Príncipe. 06 10 JUN International 06/06 Give thanks for the recent launch of the IFES new monthly online magazine Conexíon covering topics such as faith and leadership. Please pray that it will help many to connect with the work of IFES. 07/06 The IFES board meeting starts today in Belgium. Give thanks for the dedication and commitment of the board members and ask God to guide them in their decision making. 08/06 The deadline for the second round of IFES Innovation Evangelism grants is 30 Jun. Pray for student groups working on their applications and for those considering applying. 09/06 Praise God for the IFES Ministry Impact Team s creation of a new tool designed to measure the effectiveness and impact of IFES ministries. Pray for IFES International Services (Asia) as they pilot this in some English-speaking countries. 10/06 Pray for Ross McKenzie and his wife Robin, joining the team working on the IFES Engaging the University project which aims to help students to connect their faith with academic issues.
11 15 JUN Middle East and North Africa 11/06 Please pray for the planning of the triennial IFES MENA Regional Student Conference being held in Alexandria, Egypt, this August. 12/06 JUCS Jordan ask us to pray for graduates and alumni now living in countries where there are no IFES movements. Ask that they would be able to build bridges to pioneering new ministry in these areas. 13/06 A movement in a sensitive country shares: there are many young believers in this movement, pray for them to be established and rooted in their faith. 14/06 Give thanks for student ministry starting in a North African country, pray that the ministry would be successful and lead many students to Christ. 15/06 Give thanks for a movement s spring conference and especially for the Mark Drama a dramatic retelling of Mark s Gospel. Please pray that all those who attended the performance would have been touched by the gospel message. 16 20 JUN South Pacific 16/06 TSCF New Zealand s Lincoln University Christian Fellowship ask us to pray for the future of this fellowship, that we may continue to grow in numbers and that our hearts will be constantly open to God s will for us. 17/06 Give thanks for PSFC Fiji regional staff members Dan and Tony, running leadership training for tertiary students on Fiji s second largest island, Vanua Levu. 18/06 AFES Australia students at the University of Wollongong in New South Wales asks us to pray for international students on campus. Ask that they may have opportunities to hear the gospel. 19/06 TSCF New Zealand s Summit 2017 training event for student leaders takes place next month from 3-7 Jul. Pray that student leaders would learn from each other and be equipped to serve in their student groups. 20/06 AFES Australia trainee staff worker at the University of Melbourne, Naomi Brunacci, is running four Sharing the Gospel through Dance workshops this semester. Pray that those attending would be encouraged in creative evangelism.
21 25 JUN North America 21/06 Praise God for a GBUC Canada student at Polytechnique Montréal who shared the gospel with his new lab partner, which was well received 22/06 Please pray for InterVarsity USA s Global Programs summer mission trips to locations around the world. Ask that students will be inspired to go and serve and that their work would be a blessing to others. 23/06 IVCF Canada students at the University of Calgary ask us to pray for Tuesday lunches with international students, that we will form a closer community among the students and that their attendance will be more consistent. 24/06 InterVarsity USA Fellowship at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York praise God for 12 non-christians who are regularly attending meetings. Pray that students would be bold in sharing their faith. 25/06 Give thanks for IVCF Canada s recent Bible study weeks across Canada focusing on the gospel of Mark. Pray that students will have learned new ways to share the gospel with others. 26 30 JUN East Asia 26/06 Please pray for the planning and preparation for the East Asia Regional Conference taking place in August. 27/06 IVCF Philippines ask us to pray for staff and counsellors on summer camps. Pray especially that the Lord will provided the needed subsidy for each camp. 28/06 TCS Thailand recently welcomed two former student leaders onto the Bangkok team as staff. Praise God that they now have enough staff to cover the Bangkok area. 29/06 Give thanks for SONOKO Cambodia s student leadership training in the city of Battambang last month. Pray for students and staff as they consider planting student ministry in this city within the next year. 30/06 FES Singapore student, Cheong Song Yu, gives thanks for the opportunity to reach out to Chinesespeaking students through the Chinese Varsity Christian Fellowship (CVCF) at the National University of Singapore. He asks us to pray that students will remain in God and God in us (John 15:5).
01 06 JUL Europe 01/07 SEAM Exodus Macedonia volunteer staff worker Katharina asks us to pray for boldness as we go out and reach unbelievers. 02/07 IFES Europe s Bible and Culture course runs from 2-30 July and equips graduates to live out their faith in their workplaces and communities. Please pray for all those attending. 03/07 IFES InterAction volunteer Sarah is pioneering student work at the University of Luxembourg. Give thanks for Brout (Bread), a group meeting weekly to share food and study the Bible. Pray that the university will grant them official recognition as a student group. 04/07 VBH Slovakia student Olena asks for pray for the hearts of the people in our university that are hesitating about whether they need God. 05/07 Gabi Nobre IFES InterAction volunteer with CyFes Cyprus, asks for prayer for two students: Anastasia and Reneé, who are investigating the Christian faith. 06/07 LKSB Latvia staff worker Mārīte asks us to pray for students to get involved with international student ministry and for new friendships with non-christian friends. 07 11 JUL Latin America 07/07 ABUB Brazil s recent IFES Innovation Evangelism project explored a Christian worldview through lectures and exhibitions on the work of J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S Lewis. Pray that students who attended would be keen to learn more about the gospel. 08/07 Sub-regional conferences for student leaders take place in El Salvador and Ecuador this month, please pray that participants would learn to be Christ-like leaders in their student groups. 09/07 Praise God for ABUA Argentina s Open your Bible one day creative Bible training event for students. Ask that students will use what they learned help their student groups study the Bible. 10/07 AGEUP Peru recently celebrated their movement s 54th birthday. Please pray that student ministry would strengthen and grow in this country. 11/07 Give thanks for Compa Mexico s recent regional camps across Mexico on the theme of students bringing hope to the university. Thank God for the chance to study the book of Jeremiah and consider how his words brought hope to the people.
12 16 JUL Francophone Africa 12/07 Please pray for the planning and preparations of GBU Burundi s National Congress next month. Pray for a good time of fellowship and training for both students and staff. 13/07 Praise God for GBEEB Benin s successful mini-camps earlier this year. One student, Salomon, shared I have just become a Christian, after many years of involvement. students as they seek to make friends and share the gospel. 15/07 UJC Central African Republic give thanks for the opportunity to meet with local churches and para-church organisations and share about their movement. Please pray for strong future partnerships. 16/07 IFES Centre Africain du Christianisme Contemporaine provides theological and leadership training to IFES national movement staff in Francophone Africa. Please pray for participants currently studying on the program. 17 21 JUL Eurasia 17/07 IFES Eurasia Formacíon, a twoweek student leadership training program, begins today. Please pray that students attending will deepen their relationships with God, develop leadership skills and be inspired to share the gospel. 18/07 CCX Belarus give thanks for 8 mission weeks held across the country in Feb Apr. Please pray that all those who attended would have been touched by the gospel message. study tool Uncover John. Please pray for them as they start promotional work through videos and a website. 20/07 SKSK Georgia student Giorgi asks us to pray for our group to have more understanding of God s heart and love and to have a thirst for him. 21/07 Kenny, a student in a sensitive country, is an assistant evangelist in the international team of his student group. He asks us to pray that we would all face and answer questions that other students ask us. 14/07 Thank God for GBU Mali students Evangelisation over a Cup of Tea initiative which reached 100 people, 15 of whom became Christians. Please pray for 19/07 CCX Russia s IFES Innovation Evangelism project is to publish a Russian translation of the seeker Bible
22 26 JUL South Asia 22/07 BSFB Bangladesh students from Bharashapur have created a new student group in the city of Khanpur. Thank God for students pioneering new student groups. 23/07 Praise God for FOCUS Sri Lanka s recent national camp. Give thanks for good times of learning and fellowship, pray that students will have been inspired to share the gospel back home. 24/07 UESI India students from Punjab state ask us to pray for Bible study cells at Punjab Agri University in Ludhiana and Central University Bathinda to be strengthened. 25/07 NBCBS Nepal training coordinator, Bharat Pradhan, is taking part in the IFES Global Leaders Initiative designed to train and equip future leaders. Please pray that he will develop as a leader and use what he learns to serve the movement. 26/07 UESI India students in West Bengal ask us to pray for plans to start an Evangelical Graduate Fellowship (EGF) in the village of Salboni. 27 31 JUL Caribbean 27/07 The IMPACT 2017 graduates conference starts today in Grenada and runs until 31 Jul. Pray for graduates attending that they would be inspired and learn how to live for Christ after university. 28/07 IS/IVCF Belize ask us to pray for their Christianity Explored course taking place at the University of Belize in Belmopan. Pray that many students would attend and would be touched by the gospel message. 29/07 SCF Jamaica give thanks for their graduates who continue to shine for Christ with distinction. Please pray that these graduates would be good rolemodels for Christian undergraduates. 30/07 Give thanks for GBU Guadeloupe s 30th anniversary celebrations last week. Ask that God will continue to bless the work of the students and staff. 31/07 GBU French Guiana ask us to pray for good relationships with the board of the Guyanese Christian radio station Radio Voix dans le Désert (Radio Voice in the Desert). Ask for opportunities to reach students with the gospel through RVLD.
