Page 2 Did You Know... Mrs. Koneski/Mrs. Pickering-Kindergarten: The kindergarten have welcomed to their classes their elves on the shelf. They are showing their best behavior so they report good things to Santa. They are also getting ready for the season of advent. They have made their own Advent wreaths and will color a candle every Monday. They will also do a kind act every day. They are looking forward to the birthday of Jesus. Mrs. Gilman/ 1st Grade: We hope you have seen and smiled at our painted rocks that are all around the Epiphany Church property. They are beautiful! December starts with a trip to Pope John Paul II High School on Thursday, December 7th. We will enjoy a show, sing-a-long, craft and much more. This is sponsored by PJP's Student Council and Honor Society. We can't wait to go! Our Writing Project this month is "How We Made the Grinch Grin". We will write a few lines and then each of us will create the Green Guy. You won't believe some of our ideas!!! We will celebrate this most Holy Season with "Our Gifts for Baby Jesus". Each child will create a character representing themselves; design a package labeled with their gift for Jesus ( peace etc) and then lay them at Baby Jesus's crib. Be sure to visit our hallway to witness our love and creativity. On Wednesday evening, Dec. 20th, we will perform a special song along with accompanying bells at this year's Christmas Pageant that takes place at Holy Savior Church. Also, that day we will have a Christmas Party with our first grade friends in 1B. A secret special guest will attend! Shhh!! Finally, we wish all of you a Blessed Christmas and a special time with your families. Congratulations to our Volleyball teams on great playoff runs this Fall. Our CYO Sports News Varsity Volleyball A team made it to the semi-finals of the Archdiocesan playoffs, finishing 3rd out of more than 100 teams in the Archdiocese, setting a new Holy Rosary CYO record. Our Varsity Volleyball B team comprised of many 6th graders did outstanding in the Region playoffs, winning 3 of their 4 games. Our basketball season is off to a great start, with our first games scheduled for this weekend. Best of luck to all of our teams as they represent Holy Rosary CYO.

Page 3 Letter from The Governing Board of Pastors Father McCreedy Pastor of St. Paul s Parish Dear Holy Rosary Family, For many, Christmas is an annual interlude in the monotony of life. For this reason, there s no more peace on earth after January 1 st than there was before the holidays. Familial, communal, national and international discord resume every year. What s this peace on earth all about?! On the night Our Savior was born, the angels sang what we repeat at Mass every Sunday during the Gloria Peace on earth to men of good will. To achieve this peace, people have to be of good will. But humanity s problem is understanding what good will means. It means much more than being a personable, engaging and generous being. The meaning is better captured in the Lord s Prayer: Thy Will be done. Doing God s Will is what fosters the peace about which the angels sang. It means obedience to God s laws, faithfulness to His plans for humanity (the Church) and purity/modesty in the conduct of our lives. We were created in the image and likeness of God, the Jesus Who taught us to pray Thy Will be done. Those who accept this definition are the people of good will to whom peace is promised. Peace means personal harmony with God s Will, which fosters inner peace and leads to peace with and within human parameters of association. The best remedy for humanity s lack of peace can be found in making Christmas more holy than many celebrate it. This is where Advent comes into focus. During this Advent season, please, go to confession, re-dedicate your lives to the Savior, and imitate Mary s faithfulness. Let us all be better Catholics, people of God s Will. Peace to All! Father McCreedy
