Surah Yusuf Part 2 We learn the Arabic language because it is the speech of Allah, not to be amongst any tribe. When Allah narrates any story it will be the best story. The Surah before is Surah Hud and in it you can see different messengers and Prophets and how they faced problems with the other people. Surah Yusuf is revealed upon the Prophet Mohammed who faced calamities from family, not outsiders only. Initially Yusuf s problem was his brothers so this is a comfort for the Prophet Muhammad If you are following guidance you will find obstacles outside and inside, but don t despair in the mercy of Allah. We need to feel happy to receive this story because Allah sent it down. Here Allah is talking about the Qur an in Arabic has everything that humans need. One of the Sahabah said You can t find anything in the universe we need to know, even if it s about the birds, that the Prophet didn t teach us If you reach a level, in order to prevent you from being arrogant you need to look at your past. Like when you were a baby. This is the weakest, most helpless situation we were in, we totally depended on someone. So after reminds the Prophet of his favor, he tells him about his past. Before this Qur an and these stories he was unaware. Sometimes when people acquire the knowledge it can make him feel powerful, and when they see heedless people they look down upon them. Look at your past; never compare yourself with anyone because you don t know what that person is going through. Always have compassion and mercy towards people especially those who are ignorant and heedless. From this verse we can see that if we don t want to be from the heedless we need to ask Allah to teach us. Everything is LA ILAHA ILALLAH. Don t think about the means. Allah will bring the means which is suitable. We can see the name Wakeel here. We need Tawheed, we need to ask Allah to teach us and not make us from among the Ghafileen.
Surah Yusuf is the best of stories because it is revealed from Allah and He is teaching it to the Prophet, and the Prophet did not write it or make it up because he was of the unaware. Another reason Surah Yusuf is the best of stories that Allah mentioned different groups of people. Sometimes kings, brothers, women, men, fathers, etc. And this is a true story. There is not a single detail which is in unimportant in this story. The way Allah said it, the words He used are important. THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY:- The introduction of any story is important. Verse 4 (Remember) when Yûsuf (Joseph) said to his father: "O my father! Verily, I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves to me." At the beginning of the story Allah mentions a conversation between a father and his most beloved son, both of which were messengers. Yusuf started the story. You can see the relation between the father and son. You can see that the son goes straight away to tell his father, and his father immediately listens to him. If your child comes to you to tell you something, even if it is a dream, you should listen to them. The greatest bond between the children and the parents is that if they need anything they run to you, so you can give them the right advice. Ya qub is the son of Is haq who is the son of Ibrahim. Ibrahim s father was a disbeliever. This disbeliever had Messengers in his offspring. Don t ever look at someone s root, you should look at the person, do not think about their parents.
Look at the manners of Yusuf. He did not say Baba. It is a call but it s gentle. You can see respect and love from this word. The one who is talking to him about the dream is Yusuf. Ya qub had 12 sons, but he loved Yusuf the most. The love should be equal, but love is something you can t control. You have justice between all of them but the heart is different. Don t show that you love a child more than their siblings. One mother was asked who the most loving child was to her. She said, The young till she become old. The one who is travelling until she returns. And the sick until she becomes well It s a vision, it was something he saw in his dream. All of the dreams of the Prophet are true. sun and moon. -He saw exactly eleven stars/planets and the And then again he mentioned So he saw this for sure! This is an affirmation. = To me
This is a noun and it is stronger than a verb. It is in masculine form which means either all or the majority was masculine. This was a dream which sounded very strange to him. This is a very clear dream. Ya qub said in his mind he interpreted this as 11 planets/stars and Yusuf had 11 brothers. And the sun and moon were He and his mother. All of these were prostrating to Yusuf. Ya qub interpreted this as that Yusuf will have some rank in the future, that Allah will elevate him. The sun, moon and stars are already in the sky which means they have a position but Allah will elevate Yusuf above them. This will come in the future, but it will come through a means and not easily. Allah will honor him and this will not happen unless he goes through different stages in his life. If you are asking Allah for any provision, it is not like you will get it quickly; it will go through means according to what suits you. Don t expect it to be according to what you think, let Allah your Wakeel plan for you. We tire ourselves by planning too much and we exhaust ourselves. Why did Allah make the dream come before anything happened? It is a glad tiding from Allah to keep him going firm. If Yusuf didn t have this dream, problem after problem would come and he would not have hope. That goal kept him going. For a believer, don t you want Paradise to be your goal? If paradise is your goal whatever you are going through in your life will become easy for you. Allah Al Qader, Al Qadeer is able to make him straight away get this honor. But Allah wanted to teach him that even the good you need to struggle to get it. If you want honor you need to struggle though Allah is able to change you and whatever you want quickly. And this happened to Yusuf even though he was a messenger. This is a lesson for the Prophet Muhammed and for all of us. Verse 5 When Ya qub realized this dream was an honor he became afraid of his other sons. He straight away advised him with this good advice:
He (the father) said: "O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers, lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Shaitân (Satan) is to man an open enemy! is from Qasas. Don t narrate your vision. means upon them. You would usually use Ila (to). But this word is used because this dream would be like if it was on top of their heads and difficult for them to believe. It would be something they could not bear. They would have problems if he told him that. After he ordered he immediately gave a reason. This teaches us when we forbid our children for something we need to give them a reason. You are the mother but you need to make everything clear t to them, this is one of the rules of nurturing your children. And when you explain don t twist the truth. You can t lie to your children. The reason is: The father knew the nature of all his children. He knew that there was jealousy in their hearts towards Yusuf. You need to observe your children; you need to be observant on the feelings of his heart. Ya qub did that even though he was a Prophet. He didn t tell Yusuf that they were jealous of him; he told them the consequence of the jealousy. Maybe they would plot against Yusuf a great plot. Comes from Kaada which means to plot against someone in order to make that person fall in trouble.
He didn t say Alayka because that would show they were enemies. He made it softer, to show that they might plot to you not upon you. This means that there is some harm but they are not completely bad. You need to see the good and the bad. The Shaytaan is behind all the problems. Yaqub knows his sons are jealous but he doesn t want his son to hate his brothers. We go through this situation sometimes. We want to inform our children but we don t want them to have this hatred or jealousy to someone close to him. Ex. Someone close to your husband is dealing with magic. You want to inform him but not too much to make them cut their relation. Allah, Al Wakeel inspired this wisdom to Ya qub. Yusuf s brothers are not his enemy. They may make mistakes, so don t trigger their jealousy. But the Shaytaan is our enemy. Don t help the Shaytaan cause more problems. We need to remember that behind all the plots and problems there is Shaytaan. He is our clear enemy. The Shaytaan never feels tired. The brothers may get tired but Shaytaan will not, which is why don t be afraid of the plots of people if they are jealous or plotting because they may lose their mood but Shaytaan is always in the mood to cause problems. We need Al Wakeel to protect us from the Shaytaan. Fights between brothers and sisters, husbands and wives are from the Shaytaan, don t make it more. Take the means but don t rely on them. The means Ya qub took were that he advised Yusuf. We can benefit from this that if we want to do something do not announce it before it happened. This is like marriage. Before anything happened don t announce it to everyone because people could get jealous. It s not like you rely Allah and throw yourself in the ocean. We need to take the means. Or if you want to build a house, you don t need to announce it to everyone. If anything good happened to you, you don t need to announce it to the world because people could become jealous. It is permissible to conceal talking about blessings Allah gave you for some benefit. When Allah gives you a blessing we should show it. But if you talk about the blessing before it happens people could plot so we need to take the means to protect ourselves. If everything is done then you can. It is okay to tell certain people.
Anybody who has a blessing there will someone who will be jealous of it. The Shaytaan can whisper and cause problems between people. With every problem in your life Shaytaan has a big role in it.
